Sunday4 April 2010 Muang Thong United v Navy Rayong
Friday 9 April 2010 Thai Port v Muang Thong United
Sunday 25 April 2010 Bangkok Glass v Muang Thong United
Sunday 23 May 2010 Muang Thong United v BEC Tero
Sunday 13 June 2010 Osotspa Saraburi v Muang Thong United

Teams that walk off the pitch will forfeit the match in a new ruling announced by Vichit. Hallelujah!! They get there in the end, don't they? source: www.thaileaguefootball.comAlthough, that is only for the TPL. I've seen the rules and regs for the RL and the punishment for a coach who hauls his team off the pitch during a game is a 6,000 baht fine and a two-match touchline ban. The fine is exactly the same amount that a fan can be fined for raising his or her middle finger.

I am not sure it was your mistake or the one from another. Cause the FAT changed the whole schedule, after they agreed to postpone the start of the league.

I followed up on a similar appeal a couple of years ago (Vinnie might remember?) and it involved an awful lot of work which would have meant missing most of the match. It's more for aspiring journalists than fans who just want to enjoy a few beers and watch the game.

I'm still a little worried by your lack of condemnation concerning last week's events.

Really interesting to see. We nearly do have the same predictions. Only the Police can be found in the top and at the bottom. But I didn't really thought that others would predict TOT and TTM at the bottom that much.

With all the hype that currently surrounds Thai domestic football iIt can be quite easy to forget that there was a time when information was extremely difficult to come by. Following the local leagues was very much a minority pastime up until a couple of years ago and press coverage, particularly the English language press coverage, was very thin on the ground. Nowadays we have numerous websites, magazines, newspapers and TV channels dedicated to reporting on the game, in Thai, English and even German , and most TPL clubs are guaranteed to pull in a few thousand, rather than a few dozen, fans for their home games. If you click on the link below you will be able to read four articles from the period 1997 to 1999, which was when I first started to watch Thai football. This of course was pre-Chonburi but some of the clubs mentioned are still playing in the top flight and, if the price is right, I might even reveal which was "my" team. (Quiet, JC ) Researching this feature has brought back a lot of memories of the period when the players on the pitch often outnumbered the supporters in the stands http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifc/club_news.pl?news=323439

Well, I guess security is the big issue at the moment and all security personnel would have to be deployed anywhere but at a football ground. So i guess cancellations have to happen. Thailand should count themselves lucky though. Many leagues in Asia would simply play the games behind closed doors just to get the match into the schedule - of course, then fans just gather outside the ground.

The match between Muangthong United and TOT CAT is rescheduled by Thai Premier League Co.,Ltd to response to Government’s Announcement of State of Emergency.
There are 3 more matches in Bangkok, Thai Port v Bangkok Glass, Insee Police United v Buriram PEA, BEC Tero v TTM Pichit rescheduled to March 17th (Estimated). However, the match between MTU and TOT CAT date is still not set because on the 17th, MTU will play AFC Cup with Indonesian team. The further information will be later announced by the club.

Bangkok United has changed the next game on their website to their game from gameday 2 (vs BEC Tero), so I`ll guess they start with that if they don`t play gameday 1 in midweek. But after what I`ve been told the new date for the postponed game vs Samut Songkhram will not be confirmed before sometime next week. http://www.bangkokunitedfc.com/

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/sports/34236/all-tpl-games-postponedThe Thai Premier League will kick off next weekend instead of this Saturday as originally scheduled because of the simmering political situation. Vichit Yamboonruang, chairman of the Thai Premier League Co, said yesterday the league will kick off next weekend for the safety of all concerned parties in the wake of the planned mass rallies by the "red shirts." The TPL was originally scheduled to begin this weekend but the pro-Thaksin Shinawatra organisation plan to stage protests in Bangkok and other provinces. The government is using the Internal Security Act to handle the rallies. The law covers Bangkok and Nonthaburi and some areas in Ayutthaya, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Pathom, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon from today until March 23. This weekend's matches have been rescheduled to take place after the final week of the first leg, Vichit said. This weekend's matches of the on-going Division One have also been postponed. However, if the rallies do not stop next week, concerned parties may consider further postponement of matches, he said. Meanwhile, four TV stations will televise live all 240 TPL matches in the upcoming season. They will be shown on NBT 11 (60 matches), TrueVisions 102 (30), T-Sport (30) and Siam Sport TV (120). Each team will get 1.5 million baht from the broadcasters.

Is anyone else feeling slightly pessimistic about the forthcoming season? It's hardly got off to an auspicious start.

wrote summat similar the other day. http://jakartacasual.blogspot.com/2010/03/thai-politics-trumps-tpl-kick-off.htmlthing is last years success has caught ppl by surprise and as ever in thailand there is little in the way of long term thinking we been here before of course with a good showing at hiroshima in the mod 90s and tfb doing the business. the marketing is better now of course but still success has dropped in people s laps and when that happens there is a feeling that it will continue to do so and so people overlook the hard work that needs to go hand in hand hopefully the hard business heads at mtu et all won t take things for granted and will have learnt lessons...hopefully

The Songkla match needs to be held, cause Honda paid already the transportation cost in advance. And as per my understanding, Narathiwat will play vs Sriracha on March 21, and Sriracha than have to play Songkhla on 17th. All other games from Matchday 1 will played at the end of the first round. So same as in TPL.

Loko, I think you got some dates mixed up in your previous response, from my understanding, Sriracha play Narathiwat tomorrow and play Songkhla on Wednesday, so we should have two games tomorrow?
Is this correct? Has the fixture list been altered this weekend?

Nope I don't think so. And it wouldn't makes sense cost saving wise. Maybe I am wrong with 17 and 21 but not I am sure with tomorrow.

The red shirts have announced they will march through Bangkok next Saturday.
The TPL will need to consider some contingency plan if we get delayed much further.

Link: http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/sports/34550/tpl-fans-still-waiting-for-big-kick-offTPL fans still waiting for big kick-off
In 2008, Thai sports were affected by politics when the yellow shirts seized Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports. This prompted several events to be postponed or cancelled as participants could not come here. Now it's the red shirts' turn. Their rally has forced the Thai Premier League to postpone its season-opening round from last weekend to this weekend. The decision was made after the government invoked a security law to handle the red shirts' protests. The law covers Bangkok and Nonthaburi as well as certain areas of other provinces. While some matches could have taken place last week as they were to be played in unaffected areas, the TPL decided to postpone all matches for fairness. The rescheduled kick-off to the new season this weekend will be postponed again if the demonstration goes on. The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) and Thai Premier League Co will meet today to decide whether this weekend's matches will go ahead. Also Muang Thong United's AFC Cup match against Indonesia's Persiwa Wamena at the TPL champions' Yamaha stadium was also postponed for security reasons. Although people have the right to stage a rally, their acts must not adversely affect other people. I know too well how people feel when they are affected by political rallies because my house is near Parliament and Government House. For the sake of the country, I do hope that the current rally ends before it becomes major unrest. On another tack, Thailand coach Bryan Robson is now looking forward to the Suzuki Cup (Southeast Asian Championship) in December and the Asian Games in November following the national team's failure to advance to the Asian Cup finals. Robson, who is in charge of both squads, says he will watch as many TPL matches as possible to find players for the full national and Asian Games (U23) sides. The former England international hopes clubs will release their players for both teams' friendly matches as part of their preparations for the two events. It will be good for Robson to see TPL matches and pick his own players. When he arrived in Thailand last year, there was only one round of matches left in the season so he could watch only one game. Apparently, it was his then assistant Steve Darby who selected the squad because Robson was new to Thai football. Darby is now in charge of monitoring overseas-based Thai players after he steered Thailand's U23 side to an early exit at the SEA Games in Laos last year. Robson will have around seven months to prepare his team for the Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou, China. Meanwhile, Robson has recommended Muang Thong goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan to his former club Manchester United. Robson is still a global ambassador for the English champions. Robson used three goalkeepers in the Asian Cup qualifying campaign - Kawin, Kittisak Rawangpa and Sinthaweechai (Kosin) Hathairattanakool, who is playing in Indonesia. Once one of the best goalkeepers in Asia, Kittisak seems to past his prime although he may be able to win back Thailand's No 1 shirt now that he is with Bangkok Glass, one of the country's top clubs. Sinthaweechai is a good shot stopper but inconsistent and shaky with high balls. You may call him "Thailand's David James." Probably on Darby's advice, Robson started with Kawin in goal in Thailand's deciding Asian Cup qualifier against Iran earlier this month. The young goalkeeper made several good saves in Thailand's 1-0 defeat against the Asian powerhouses in Teheran. One of the fastest rising Thai goalkeepers, Kawin is agile and brave. Although he is not tall, he is comfortable with high balls. I hope Robson's move is not just a PR stunt. It would be good for the goalkeeper himself and Thai football if he gets a chance for a trial with Man U. My advice for him is that he should go to the gym more often to add muscle if he wants to play in Europe. About the author: Tor Chittinand is the Bangkok Post's football writer.
