Is there a transfer window in Thai football? There is, isn't there? Someone was asking me about it today.

And it may mean nothing, but Rajnavy Rayong is just listed as 'Rajnavy' without the 'Rayong' suffix.
They were Siam Navy at the Football Expo today (Can't remember if Rayong was in the name or not)

Cheers for the mention Loko.. You're right about the booths, Chonburi was by far the best booth. I was really disappointed with Bangkok Glass' booth and general efforts over the 2 days.

I was offered a ridiculous amount of money for one of my original Pro League shirts last week. I turned it down. I'm now wondering if they wanted it for this display? Interesting to read Loko's piece - and your comments BGB - as to which teams made an effort and which teams didn't.

so why the lengthy break in june/july?
That's the close season in England. It's the perfect opportunity for money spinning friendlies against disinterested English Premier League players. I'm surprised you had to ask?! just thinking about me hols, nothing else crossed my mind

Btw how do you call "kleinfeld" in English? I mean this small pich where you were playing on? Is it 5-a-side? The pitch there, well, it was so small it was 3 a side. It had two small goals at each end about a meter wide and the pitch was just strips of green carpet that everyone kept tripping over... It certainly wasn't what I was expecting. Of the fan clubs that played, I've no idea who won the tourny. I'm guessing TTM Pitchit. From the games I saw them play, they were very impressive. Also during last season I played in most BG fanclub matches and TTM were easily the best, I think TTM and Chonburi were the only teams to beat us all season (although Chonburi beat us on their turf, we got revenge on our patch.)

If PEA are there or thereabouts come the run-in, then they'll be red-hot favourites to lift the trophy. Look at their final eight games (subject to change, I know)
TOT (a) Army (a) TTM (h) Navy (a) Samut Songkhram (h) Sriracha (a) Sisaket (h) Chiang Rai (a)
On paper a easy run in but how about this little group 20-Mar BURIRAM PEA CHONBURI 23-Mar PATTAYA BURIRAM PEA 27-Mar BURIRAM PEA MUANG THONG 30-Mar BANGKOK GLASS BURIRAM PEA 3-Apr BURIRAM PEA THAI PORT I suppose that Newin had these arranged?

That's a very revealing comment, binnsy! Who said anything about Newin arranging fixtures? It was just an observation that of the title favourites PEA seem to have a slighly easier run-in than the others.

Not at all, binnsy. It would seem to be the other way round. I make a harmless observation and you think I'm accusing your owner of arranging matches! Either way, it makes no difference what way the fixtures come out – you're gonna win the league, I think.

TPL teams ponder mystery of the missing balls Already stained by a brewing scandal, Thai football's reputation faces further blemish with news of a shortfall in the number of balls received by clubs for the new season .
Nike Thailand is contracted to provide each Thai Premier League club with 25 balls (15 for practise and 10 for games), as well as 20 balls for each Division One side, with a topup of 10 balls per team for the second half of the season.
Nike reportedly handed over the full complement of 1,170 T90 Tracer balls - the same model used in major European leagues including the English Premier League - to the league organisers, Thailand Premier League Co.
However, when the TPL teams turned up to collect the balls, each received only 23, two short of the number stipulated.
Contacted by Kom Chad Luek newspaper, Nike revealed it had a document to confirm that they gave the full complement of balls to the organisers, and they had no idea where the missing ones had gone.
The episode comes hot on the heels of an allegation made by a Senate committee on sports last week that three highranking officials of the Football Association of Thailand took bribes in return for appointing a referee in a Thailand Premier League match.

As football corruption goes, this isn't so much Jack Warner as Warner Brothers! I had to check it wasn't April 1st. Is this Tor's doing? It took me a while to work out what he meant by "brewing scandal". I thought it was going to be Singha or Chang watering down their beer!

As we've all suspected for a long time, Thai football is just a load of balls!! Along with Vinnie, I was quite excited when I read the phrase "brewing scandal". The Burton Mail would frequently use such headlines, as Burton-upon-Trent is the brewing capital of England.

Honestly, that doens't seem like enough balls anyway. Only 10 for 9 home games in each leg?
What about the extra ones for the ballboys to throw back when the 'match' ball goes out of play?

FIXTURE CHANGE According to the TPL site, there are now only 5 matches on the 12th. Khon Kaen v Osotspa Si Saket v Navy- Rayong ( or whatever the name is) are both moved to the 19th joining the Chonburi v Port fixture on that date.

Budgets for the 2011 season in millions of baht (if I read it right) PEA 120 MTU 85-90 TTM Phichit 90 (!) Tero 80 Chiang Rai 80 (!) Police 70 Thai Port 60-70 Chonburi 50-60 Osotspa 60 BG 60 Army 50-60 Pattaya 50 Sriracha 50 Samut Songkhram 50 Sisaket 40 (TOT 40) Khon Kaen 30 Siam Navy 17-20 The article notes that the average budget is in the 40-60m bracket and that over 1 billion baht will be spent by clubs this year. http://www.siamsport.co.th/Sport_Football/110123_285.html.

Impressive budget for PEA but of course they have expenses that other clubs won't. For example, I understand they supply food for fans for away games. So say they supply two meals per person at 40bt each for 1500 fans. That's a cost of two million baht for the season. They've already announced 10 million baht is "for the fan club" so that's down twelve million already. Then you have the cost of away travel. MTU to Buriram cost fans 550 bt each. Take off one hundred baht for the ticket and you have about sixty people per coach paying 450bt each. That's income of 27,000 baht per coach. So say the actual cost of transport was 25,000 per coach and with 1500 away fans that's about twenty coaches. Let's be frugal and say Buriram use fifteen coaches. For each away game in Bangkok they are looking at an expense of about 375,000. I think by the time you budget in all the extra costs, the gap will be far closer.

I'm pretty sure that 2009 was the first time the games were played over the weekend.

I honestly think the fixture list is worth sweet FA (no pun intended) this season. Every fan should take it game by game.
