They finished 13th out of 16 last year. Maybe they could do with a new coach to go in there and sort them out...bon-nirman, I think you're the man for the job!

I think you may be right binnsy. I think I saw something about the Thai Football Expo & fixtures in Thai last week.

EDIT - Confirmed on TLO. For anyone who's interested, it's at 1pm today at the Centara Hotel, in their 23rd floor Grand Ballroom. Div 1 fixtures will also be announced. Maybe they know something about tomorrow's matches that we don't?  Huh?

Also, I think Dr. Vijit confirms that the both leagues will commence on February 12th. Except that MTU and Port won't play due to other commitments. First fixture change of the season and the fixtures aren't even out.

Strangely TOT are listed as team 12 in Thai, which is the position they finished last season.

A name change/relocation on the cards??

Good start: two matches postponed on the first day of the season. On the plus side, it's good to see Chiang Rai and Khon Kaen get underway with winnable home matches.

I guess due to the actual owner situation. And from what I read, there are actually two different teams are on training. One team, the TOT, is coached by Somchai. ex Bangkok United.

It will be finished 2mrw, unless they decide to have more play-offs to make an 18th team for D1.

I've just been told that the fixtures (first leg) will be released tomorrow.

So, let's pick up where we left off.

Why do the TPL/FAT go out of their way to do things which invite suspicion?

Fixtures all the way to the end of ther season, too!   My cynicism was misplaced in the above quotation.

And it may mean nothing, but Rajnavy Rayong is just listed as 'Rajnavy' without the 'Rayong' suffix.

I've had a quick look at the fixture list. I know that it will be changed several times but i'm just curious why  Army weekend home games are listed for Saturday while all the rest are Sunday games? Please don't tell me that the FAT would prefer the TPL games to be played on Sundays rather than Saturdays.

Rayong will be replaced to Sattahip and they may share the stadium with Pattaya in Chonburi. There new name "Siam Navy League Club".

Re-TOT, sorry to dissapoint you vinnie. But teh site looks like this througout the last season already.

Re-fixture list, it's supposed still no more than a scribble. Nothing uncommon even for European leagues. Bundesliga is doing the same. Just putting the weekend fixtures together first. And before the season starts, they rearrange it in details. Means on which day which club will have to play in the end.

Guess the same here. The Saturday match may just a placeholder though.

It'll be interesting to see how many Navy fans stick with the team and how many throw their weight behind Rayong F.C.

That's the fansite, and previously was the only official one.

I am not sure regarding Rayong FC. Don't foget that you will have PTT, obviously getting a lot of good players, and thwoing in a lot of cash. They even have plans to build a stadium for 150 Mio. Baht. And you will have the new RL side Matraput Rayong. Does any other city have clubs apart from BKK?

Regarding the name, I don't now what to make out of it.

Siam Navy sounds good, not sure about the rest of the moniker though.

I'll be at the Expo today if anyone else is around.

I'm in the mascot match which is due for 4pm. Originally is was supposed to be Mascots v FHM girls, but then the FHM girls wanted to play the players  so now it's mascots v mascots. I wonder if PEA Man and Thunder boy make the trip and I wonder what the punishment would be for a two footed challenge

I had a brief look at the Expo yesterday. It was pretty much a larger version of what you see outside most TPL stadiums on a matchday. Lot's of loud music and young girls shouting into microphones. I think all of the TPL teams had stalls selling merchandise along with a selection of teams from the 1st and 2nd divisions.

There were some mascots there yesterday too. The were mostly standing around and posing for pics. No sign of BG man or the 2 Buriram guys though.  Obviously they were at home sharpening their studs for today's showdown.  Grin

If PEA are there or thereabouts come the run-in, then they'll be red-hot favourites to lift the trophy. Look at their final eight games (subject to change, I know)

TOT (a)
Army (a)
TTM (h)
Navy (a)
Samut Songkhram (h)
Sriracha (a)
Sisaket (h)
Chiang Rai (a)

Actually Loko, Thunder Boy isn't BFC's mascot. PEA have 2 mascots, The superhero and the sidekick, but yeah, I'm sure BFC's version is one of those same guys.

Anyway, they didn't show up

There was a decent turnout of clubs there, maybe 25-30, even Naratiwat turned up. No sign of Nakorn Pathom though

Incidentally, it seems Siam Navy may be reverting back to the old image completely as the mascot they brought down wasn't the dragon but the male and female sailors from previous seasons and they were using the old club badge again although it might be a stop gap until they come up with a new image.

Did you know that both are the same guy? So thats maybe the real reason why FC and PEA are not able to play the same day Smiley

What exactly has happened? Extraordinary that one of the best-supported clubs in the TPL has been ripped apart like this.

-June planting rice and for young men who turned 20 or poseponers to enter 'short term monkhood' because... -July at some point is the beginning of Buddhist Lenth (they can't just get in and out during next 3 months). I am just guessing, my parents are (good) Buddhists. Smiley

The Bkk Utd, Songkla and Army group will be a close one to call. From the other group, Si Saket will certainly start as favorites.

I'd like to see the Army and Air Force stay/go up but I predict the group winners will be Si Saket and Songkla.

I'd like to see Songkhla go up, but i fear that they will be out of their depth in the TPL. So another year in Div 1 might be better for the team's development as a whole, although saying this, Div 1 could be rather weak due to the number of team changes.

I would like to see Bkk Utd stay up, if only to keep the capital team in there, but if they do then they must get there act together next season, sort out a ground and really try to get a fanbase on the go. I'd also like to see the AF back to the top flight. I think AF could be like the Police and hold there own in there.

It would be nice to see a team from the south represented in the TPL. But if Songkla don't make it in the play-offs, I feel it will be difficult for them to get promoted next season. In my opinion, I can see the 1st division being much stronger next season with potentially Buriram, Chiang Mai and Phuket joining the league. These teams will surely invest and it wouldn't surprise me if we see at least 2 of these teams in the TPL for the beginning of the 2012 season.

If Bkk Utd do stay up, I'd like to see them return to the Thai-Japanese Stadium next season. It might not be the best stadium in Thailand but it's far better than the Bangkok Uni stadium that they have played in towards the end of last season.

What are the odds on a call for a twenty team TPL in 2012?

I guess the odds have just been slashed. Wink

That's the close season in England. It's the perfect opportunity for money spinning friendlies against disinterested English Premier League players.

I'm surprised you had to ask?! Wink

I don't get the link between Thai football currently being popular and having to have as many teams as possible in the TPL...Oh, f*ck it. I can't even be bothered making a cogent argument.

BGB, they confirmed 3 up three down, but they are talking about a 20 league since two weeks I believe.

Is the growing interest of fans an argument to increase a league to 20 nowadays? I often read about la liga and EPL, talking about to reduce the league to 18. Cose the overall schedules getting tighter an tighter. We are facing enough problems here (TPL) with 16 and now 18 clubs, where we will end up with 20?

That's twice in recent times that Dr. Vijit has made an announcement, only for the FAT to come out and contradict him. (the first was the Chonburi/PEA to the AFC Cup debacle).

I like how everyone has learnt the lessons from last season. "We'll wait and see before we decide on expansion or not" I guess there wasn't enough negative reaction to the shifting of the goalposts in the last month of last season. Even Tor Chittanand is alluding to the dodgy reasons for that. Maybe they like the fan protests because it keeps them in the news.

If Worawi et al keeping saving their friends from the drop, it won't be long before there's a 100 team league.
