Today I spoke to the head of security at MTU about a problem dating back to December. He actually speaks good English and explained about the security process which I think will make for an interesting interview. Stay tuned.

Who can guess which club has the most fans banned from the TD?

Please could you enlighten us.Which fans will be banned? More importantly, banned for what reason? This all seems a little premature or dare I say premeditated.

He doesn't know either jimbo.

Isanman.where have all the prolific posters gone..??  Vinnie  Locomotive and that english boy .welcome back Wolfman we have sorely missed you.

Where have all the posters gone?
Maybe they have all taken a vow of silence?

WHY YOU GONNA MISS ALL THIS

I think they've all gone on holiday jimbo. Or working extra hard doing O.T. saving up for trips to North Korea

Why so many posts on this topic? Surely it can't be due to a lack of stimulating conversation about the new football season?

Kittipol Paphunga MD "Kittipol"
The very highly-rated Tero player that we bizzarely signed while still injured is supposed to be fit for the new season. Could be a contender for player of the year if he gets back to full fitness.
Most likely to: Have the highest medical insurance bill of the whole squad.

You saw this coming    maybe you should get a job on the Medical/Fitness team at Muang Thong!!

Vietnam coach Calisto suddenly resigns
Quote
Vietnam national football team coach Henrique Calisto Wednesday handed in his resignation letter to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), heading for Thailand to coach Thai Premier League reigning champions Muangthong United.

He told Tuoi Tre in an exclusive interview that one of the reasons for his quitting is he has not been trusted by VFF.

He talked to Tran Quoc Tuan, VFF general secretary, and Nguyen Lan Trung, VFF vice chairman, about his resignation on Monday, Calisto said, adding the two failed to persuade him to stay.

He revealed he has been thinking a lot about saying goodbye to Vietnamese football atmosphere after ten years of working in the Southeast Asian nation.

It is now time to carry out his own new plans, he said.

Calisto was under tremendous fire every time his teams, at national or under-23 levels, did not play well, he complained, saying it was unfair for other managers to criticize him and his men despite their hard work.

He would not have been appointed to chairman of Portugal’s coach committee if he were as incompetent as some Vietnamese coaches denounced him, he grumbled.

According to Calisto, it was truly absurd when he was to be responsible for any losses but when his team won, the victory would then be credited to this or that player or sometimes luck.

Vietnam’s most recent failure to win the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 was due to his best players’ injuries, he explained.

But what most disappointed him is a provision in his contract with VFF right after the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 trophy that says the federation reserves the right to prematurely terminate the contract and will just pay him two months’ salary as compensation. He reckoned this as a sign of distrust of him.

He decided to leave because he wanted to refresh himself and also because he has found no respect from the people he was working with, the outspoken coach said.

Asked if he has any regret, Calisto gave a ‘no’ answer, adding working in Vietnam for more than 10 years is really meaningful to him.

Calisto confirmed he will coach Muangthong United F.C. in Thai Premier League after leaving Vietnam.

One of the reasons why the Thai club signed him is they was fascinated by Vietnam’s performance at the Cup, he said.

He then rebutted conjectures that the main reason for his resignation is the monthly US$40,000 salary this club has reportedly promised him.

He hopes he will be in Thailand for his new job within a week after having finished the contract termination procedures.

He also thinks of returning to Vietnam one day.

Explaining his decision to choose the Thai Premier League 2010 champions instead of a club in Vietnam, Calisto said no Vietnamese club has approached him this year.

Calisto has yet to talk to his close friends Vo Quoc Thang, who brought him to Vietnam more than ten years ago, and Le Hung Dung, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation, about his resignation but merely discussed it with VFF.

Via Tuoi Tre, Calisto also wanted to convey his sincere thanks to Vietnamese football fans and Mr Thang for their relentless support during his memorable stay in Vietnam.

Calisto confirmed as Muang Thong coach
Quote

Bangkok: AFC Cup 2011 Group G leaders Muang Thong United have officially unveiled Henrique Calisto as their new head coach.

The former Vietnam coach has signed a two-year deal with the Thailand Premier League (TPL) champions and will be at the helm for Muang Thong’s TPL match with Thai Port on Sunday, their last domestic fixture before travelling to Singapore for their AFC Cup clash with Tampines Rovers.

Prior to the appointment of Calisto, Muang Thong were being coached by Technical Director Robert Procureur, who oversaw the Thai giant’s 4-0 hammering of Vietnam’s Hanoi T&T in their AFC Cup opener.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Callisto said that with over a decade coaching in the region he knows Thai football well and has vowed to adhere to the attacking brand of football expected at the two-time TPL champions.

“Through my experience in the ASEAN region I know Thai football very well,” said the 57-year-old, who led Vietnam to glory in the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup and club side Dong Tam Long An to the V-League title in 2005 and 2006.

“I have studied Thai football for a long time and I know Muang Thong and many of the players, especially the national team players.

“As coach of Muang Thong I am not just expecting victory as I am planning to create a team that enjoys playing exciting and entertaining football for the fans.”

The previous incumbent in the Muang Thong hot seat, Carlos Roberto de Carvalho, held the post for less than a month, but Calisto said he is well aware of the pressure of the job and is confident he will rise to the challenge.

“Every coach has pressure in their job. I have had 20 years experience in Portugal and ten years in Vietnam and I have passed every test so I can overcome the pressure.

“My target now is to make Muang Thong play at their best in every match and every tournament.”

Muang Thong United are next in action on the continental stage on Wednesday, March 16 when they take on Tampines, who also won their AFC Cup Group G opener by defeating Victory 3-1 in the Maldives.

Having been in Vietnam for a decade it is no doubt that departure wasn't easy especially in that manner. But speaking of club coaches criticising National team coach... Smiley Smiley had he come over to Thailand as the NT coach he would surely feel right at (another) home, here.

Well, Charade... Football can be a very fun sport and at the sametime it can be cruel business! Not long ago, Thailandsusu discussion board was flooded with Rene' for NT team coach in the same fashion the teebage boys talking about the new girl behind the counter at the popular ice-cream palar in town. Fans were sing 'You'll never walk alone' for Peter Reid but when he literaly walked... Smiley you already knew the rest. As for Calisto, he was perceived as one of the most acceptable by many of Thai football fans during his time as Vietnam's coach. But kissing the (ex)enemy is also what football can make people do.

FOWLER SIGNS FOR MUANG THONG FOR USD 660,000 A YEAR

Quote

BANGKOK (10 July 2011) – Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has signed for defending Thai Premier League (TPL) champions Muang Thong for one year in a contract worth more than THB 20 million (USD660,000).

Viluck Lohthong, the deputy president of Muang Thong, said that he hopes by signing Fowler, it will help to improve the club’s current position on third in the TPL.

And Viluck believes that with Fowler’s presence, Muang Thong could deny current league leaders Buriram PEA the TPL crown.

“I haven’t played for a couple of months but I will be fit enough when the league restarts. I’m looking forward to the challenge,” said Fowler. “Muang Thong United is a big team and play good football.”

Fowler, who scored 120 goals for Liverpool from 1993-2001, said that he should not have any problem adapting to the hot weather or adjusting to his new team-mates at Muang Thong.

“I’ve played for many teams over the years and never had any problem making new friends. But what’s most important for me is to help the club win every match they play,” added Fowler .

CALISTO IS A NO-GO

Quote
Thai Premier League champions Muang Thong United yesterday announced that they had parted company with coach Henrique Calisto but insisted it was by "mutual consent."

"Muang Thong United Football Club and coach Mr Henrique Calisto have come to a mutual agreement to cancel their contract," a statement read.

"The agreement was reached by both parties that he will discontinue as head coach of the club from September 29, 2011."
Assistant coach Sarawut Treephan will be in charge in Muang Thong's match against SCG Samut Songkhram in the Thai Premier League tomorrow, according to the club's official declaration.

The club are hoping Sarawut can bring more fortune as Calisto's removal came after Muang Thong were eliminated in the AFC Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday as they continue to look a shadow of the side they were last season.

They are currently in third place and sit 12 points behind leaders Buriram PEA with little hope of catching them although they do have two games in hand.

Calisto was appointed Muang Thong coach earlier this year after replacing Carlos Roberto Carvalho.

Carvalho's reign lasted just weeks as he was sacked after the Kirins were knocked out in the AFC Champions League qualifying.

No news in English, so I'll roughly translate.

Teerasil are likely to move out of Thailand, might be Europe.

Ronnarit Suewaja, General Manager of MT United, confirmed next year there will be two players from Atletico Madrid, in forward and winger position joining MT United. For Teerasil he said "Lately, there are many clubs shown interested to our national player especially European clubs and I think we are ready to let him follow his dream. This move would be a great impact of Thai football and his career".

I think this news might be possible because Atletico Madrid has a partnership with MT United. About Teerasil news, Robert Procurer, Vice President of MT, has a connection with Europe clubs and he was the guy who sent Leesaw to Belgium and sold Soumahoro Yaya, ex-MT player, to a big club in Belgium. Actually, there are many players was sent to Europe by him so it's not impossible for Teerasil to move if MT is really ready to let him go.

Muangthong United’s interim boss and player Robbie Fowler is interesting to sign Kuwait SC’s attacking midfielder Rogerio Coutinho after he was impressed by the Brazilian ace’ s performance in this season’s AFC Cup campaign.

“We are interesting on the player who can come in to lift our standard.” The 36-year-old tactician said. “So, everyone could see that Rogerio has high quality with a lot of technical skill. I believed that he can make some different in Thai Premier League as well as the continental tournament. He can play as the midfielder and striker. He played very well in the two matches against us. If we could sign him he will help us to improve our standard but this progress is still up to the club’s executive.

While the Kilins’ general manager Ronnarit Suewaja revealed that, “I confident that with the player’s quality could be capable for our club, the weather and culture of Thailand would be suitable for the player to play and may be the reputation of Muangthong United would attract this player to join us. I can confirm that our executives have inquired him already

MT United appointed Milos Josic as a head coach and reshape the staff structure as English structure.

Milos Josic was Raj Pracha, Thailand Division 1 side, head coach and did a great job, his former team was fifth in the table.

Moreover, MT has offered a contract to Alex Armstrong, ex-Cardiff City coach, to take charge of fitness. He has a really good profile.

As I remember the structure would be like this

General Manager: Ronnarit Suewaja

Team Manager: Robbie Fowler (British) := Making final decision

Head Coach: Milos Josic (Serbian) := Tactic, Strategy, Training

Assistance Coach: Sarawut Three-phan

Assistance Coach: At-cha-ri-ya Va-nich-cha-non

GK Coach: Milan Devic (Serbian)

Fitness Coach: Alex Armstrong (British)

Fitness Coach: Julien Marshall (Belgian)

Physio: Fabio (Brazilian)

Rawi blasts 'disgraceful' Muang Thong

Quote
Second-placed Muang Thong looked on course for a comfortable win after Anon Sangsanoi and Teerasil Dangda fired them to a 2-0 lead.

But the Dinosaurs fought back spiritedly and scored twice in the final two minutes to earn a draw.

The result effectively ended Muang Thong's bid to retain the TPL crown as they are 16 points behind Buriram PEA although the Kirins have played two matches less. "It's a disgrace. I have never seen such a bad performance from them," said Rawi, owner of sports media empire Siam Sport Syndicate who took over the club three years ago.

"It's a shame because the whole salary of Khon Kaen players may be 30 times less than our players' salary.

"Khon Kaen got about 300,000 baht from ticket sales for the match and part of the money will be used to pay the players' wages. I praise them for their determination and believe they will avoid relegation.

"Our coaching staff have never learned a lesson because we have often made similar mistakes."

Reports say there will be a wholesale clear-out at the club after the season ends next month.

Former England and Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is currently Muang Thong's coach and also their most popular player.

Zesh Rehman to leave Muang Thong, Safee Sali to come?
Tuesday, January 10 2012

For Muang Thong United the so far disappointing season, could end in a Happy End, if Fowler's side overcome Buriram in the Thai FA Cup final on Wednesday. But one player will be missed in the line-up, Zesh Rehman.

That Zesh Rehman will be missed in the line-up for the final on Wednesday might have his reason. As we got to know two days ago, his contract was terminated with the "Twin Qilins". Presumably by his own wish. The Pakistani international with Premier League experience in England just had signed a contract beginning of the current season. After common initial difficulties, Zesh more and more adapted and became a regular during the last six month.

Reasons for a contract termination are not known to us. However, several clubs are showing interest to sign the 28-year-old. From Hong Kong was to be heard that he is awaited for the medicine. Reports suggesting it is AFC Cup participant Kitchee SC.

During his time in Thailand Zesh Rehman was often interviewed by the British media, about the football here and Thailand itself. He expressed himself always positive towards the press and therefore helped to portray a good picture and beat the big drum for Thailand. We like wish him all the best.

With Safee Sali a new name is thrown into the ring today by Siam Sport, as possible new Muang Thong signing. According to the report, Thailand's champion from 2009 and 2010 are interested in signing the 27-year-old striker and national team captain of Malaysia. With five goals he was crowned top-scorer of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 and decisively helped his nation to win the title for the first time in history.

In August last year he caused a stir telling the media a German club offered him a trial. The trial probably never came about, but the striker in service of Pelita Jaya (Indonesia) was spending two weeks with Cardiff City in September.

Whether there is any really serious interest from Muang Thong, or whether he is just one usual name in the transfer jungle remains to be seen. The prolific striker however, would be a good addition to the squad and the Thai league.

SCG BUY INTO MUANG THONG UNITED

Quote

BANGKOK (18 Feb 2012) – The Siam Cement Group confirmed this week their purchase of 30% into former Thai Premier League champions Muang Thong United. The deal is worth THB 600 million (USD 19 million ).

Muang Thong chairman Pongsak Polanan said that SCG’s involvement would help the club become one of the leading sides in Asia within three to five years. SCG managing director Pramote Techasupatkul said the investment would help lift the standards of Thai football and expand the firm’s reputation.

Following the investment, the Kirins will be renamed SCG Muang Thong United from next season onwards. The stadium will also become SCG Stadium starting next month.

SCG was the major sponsor of TLP club Samut Songkhram FC for the last several years but following the latter’s poor finishing at the end of the 2011 season, SCG have decided against extending their sponsorship.
