Thailand replace banned Iran in Games Thailand have replaced Iran in the inaugural Youth Olympic Games women’s football tournament this August in Singapore.
Iran were barred from the August 12-25, 2010 tournament because of a FIFA directive with regard to players’ equipment. As a result, Thailand were nominated to replace Iran.
FIFA decreed that the wearing of Islamic hijab was not in accordance with the laws of the game.
In a letter to the Iran Football Federation, FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke wrote: “…taking into consideration the clear position stated by the NOC of IR Iran, the FIFA Executive Committee had no choice but to take the decision that the IR Iran Football Federation will not be able to participate in the inaugural Youth Olympic Football Tournaments in Singapore.”
About 3,600 athletes aged between 14 and 18 will compete in 26 sports and cultural events during the Games .

This is an interesting issue considering it is not a derect FIFA sponsored event. It is an event sponsored by IOC(International Olympic COmmittee) which has different mission and goals than that of FIFA. For regional femal athlete perspective, several countries allowed female athletes competition to take place due partly to dress code consession. Personally, I am leaning toward FIFA getting its hands out of hijabs. Pretty soon FIFA may admit female football fans to game venues base on FIFA regulated size of their ba ba ba... oooooobs!

Are you talking about things like that? team-work-vital-for-thais btw, they name Jatuporn Pramolbal as head coach. I thought that Charnwit was becoing in charge of? After made a big announcement naming Charnwit as the head coach, now we learned that Jatuporn Pramolbal is the man. That's FAT for you. As for the article you have posted the link, it is a good reading material for students at Bangkok/Thoburi University who wish to master their sports related English. But let me welcome Mr.Pramolbal to Asian Women Football with this. 1. North Korea is a former champ who has just been defeated by the rising Nadeshiko(Japan) 2. Japan will field forward pair in this tournament. The veteran Homare Sawa and teenage sensation and the new Asian Football Queen, Mana Iwabuchi 3. China will feature one of the two strikers from former LA-Sol, Han Duan. She is 170cm, 65kg with lightning speed. By the way the other striker she paired up with in Los Angeles was no other than Martha of Brazil. 4. New faces but soon to be recognized, The Mathildas who came from a quality women football league of their own plus with at least 4 players are from WPS in the US. 5. South Korea are also coming from a quality women football league which has some of Brazilians National players in their small (6 teams) but focus league. 6th place is a dog fight between the steadily improved Vietnam, the forever resilient Myanmar and the skillful but under utilized ladies from Thailand. Thailand's immediate concern should be to stay above Vietnam and Myanmar as this alone proven to a tough task base on the girls' recent outings.

In the name of National Interest!
Vietnam women's football has made quite a progress lately. The benefit of friendlies against Asia Powerhouse such as Japan can be seen in their positive changes the way they control the ball in the mid-third area that led them to recent Sea Games Championship.
But what also behind all these accomplishment of Vietnam Women National Football team was a gentleman and a footbal tactician from Dalian by the name of Chen Yun Fat. Chen is officially working for Dalian Football Association who was sent over to assist Vietnam Women National Football team on a paid contract.
His contract was due to expired at the end of February 28 of this year. With his accomplishment in Vietnam, FFV had already decided to extend his contract for two more years. However, Chen left Vietnam for China on vacation on January 30th and did not return. There was no contact or indication one way or another.
Mean time, Vietnam was under the pressure to put together their Women National Team to compete at the Asian Women Championship 2010 that will take place in Chengdu, China between May 19-30. Finally, FFV received words from Chen indicating that he will not return to Vietnam to renew his contract citing this being his final year with Dalian Football Association before his retirement and that he would like to spend his time helping youth players in Dalian instead. As a results, on April 4th FFV had appointed a home grown coach to take the postion that would have bee Chen Yun Fat's.
The upcoming Asian Women Championship has 8 teams scrample for three spots and the tickers to Women's World Cup 2011. In group A, there are DPR Korea and Japan who are head and shoulders above the other two condiments, Thailand and Myanmar. In group B, however, consisting of fading Iron Roses China, Australia, South Korea and, you guess it, Vietnam.
While Australia is definitely stronger than China, South Korean traditionally can give China any serious trouble. This left Vietnam, an unknow quantity to China and conceivably a dangerous opponent. For China to ensure itself of atleast mumber to spot in the group in order to reach play-offs round certain decisive measure must be taken.
From Asean Women Football perspective, Between Myanmar Thailand and Vietnam and their chances to make it to WWC final, Vietnam is in the closest postion. They are also the only team of these three who could measure up to China in term of psychological aspect of the game.
This make me wonder, was the reason for Chen Yun Fat not returning to Vietnam really has to do with his desire to work with the youth in Dalian or was it purely due to his 'National Interest' obligation.

Maybe he was tired of persuading many veterans to still play for national team . Now , a local coach names Vũ Bá Đông will lead the team to join in Asian Women's Championship 2010 . @ bon-nirnam : Thank you for posting but this topic is " Thailand Women's National Team " , not for the Vietnamese .

You are totally right. If your are not the English FA or the english national team, you wont be heard. ....wouldnt it btw a nice thing from Worawi to arrange a match between Thailand and England in Womens soccer? Rather than some nebulous matches between the mans squad?

They left Thailand in a not very good shape as they just came of the first lag of TWPL with a few players still trying to recover from league acitivities. They then jumped into full day training which the coach had hinted that maybe too much for his players. The idea to get to China 9 days before the tournament starts is to get players use to the local weather. Playing a friendly against the host the next day after the arrival is not what I would call an ideal tournament preparation. I will keep you posted of the development and the outcome as soon as I have them

I would like to congratulate Thailand U19 Women's Football Team in their 2-0 victory agaimst Taiwan and also on a 2-2 draw against Uzbekizstan. It is a new era for Thailand Women's Football. But, rather than increasing in development, the next generation are facing tempolary freeze as FAT, an agency capable of 'do'ing only one gender at a time, is now focus on men's balls. Thailand's goal in the past was to surpass Taiwan who stood firm at number 4 of the continent. At that time, Women's Football ranking in Asia was 1. China, 2. Japan, 3. DPR Korea, 4. Korean, 5. Taiwan, 6. Thailand, 7. Vietnam and 8. Myanmar. But, things have changed quite a bit since then. Vietnam has surpassed Thailand especially in tournament at continental levels with Myanmar breath quite heavily and hungrily on their necks. Australia has moved up to the top 3 spots of Asian Women's Football with Uzbekizstan also racing towards the top, this new development makes passing Taiwanese seemingly meaningless for Thailand as far as Continental ranking is concerned. They have Japan Australia DPR Korea South Korea China Vietnam and Uzbekizstan are concceiveably ahead of Thailand. Againing one spot while slipping down two is not developmental dream of any Football Association by anystress of imagination. I am sure as clueless as FAT, they somehow realized it, too. Mean while, South Korea had planted their cleats firmly as one of the continent's top four in recent months and showing a very strong sign of getting even stronger as their U20 finished 3rd while U17 won the ultimate prize at the latest editions of Women's World Cups. It is not easy these days to gather strenth and say, 'Go, Thailand!!!' knowing as far as football development goes FAT has already said, 'Stay put, Women!'

There are two game left. However, Vietnam had already beaten Uzbek and Iran 3-0 and 5-1 respectively. This could mean win only for Thailand when they eventually meet two games from now. Vietnam is currently and mathematically two points ahead of Thailand. Sadly regarding Thailand roster, the local newspapers have a very bad habit of leaving the name of players on the bench in their game report. So, here are the first eleven from their previous games. This team is also coached and managed by the same staff of the disgraceful and misfortune squad of last year U19 that finished dead last as they were edged out by Vietnam.

THA - IRAN 9:0 - 3 goals from Taneekan.
Usbekistan now needs a high scoring affair with Taipei.

Here is the line up of the squad that faced Iran. I am sure this will change slightly for the final game against Vietnam. Goalkeeper: Kamoltip Jantaklai Defenders: Nattakarn Shinwong - Uraiwan Mata - Kultida Kraikijras - Sunisa Wongsrikaew Midfielders: Sunisa Kampinij - Pranee Thanasan - Sailom Pittayanukulsup - Nateekarn Dangda Strikers: Pajaree Taoto - Rattiyakorn Pra-Ang

AFC U-19 Women's Championship 2011 - Thailand fails to qualify Taneekarn Dangda - just as good as her brother (c) Taneekarn Dangda During the last week the qualification for the AFC U-19 Women's Championship 2011 took place. Unfortunately Thailand failed to qualify for the final tournament. Once more Thailand had to give the advantage to their archival.
It was just last year the ladies played the final round of the tournament. Drawn into group A, they finished last, behind North Korea, South Korea and Vietnam with no point on the board. No Thailand tried to qualify again for the final stage, with Warasak Upathumnarakhorn as head coach. He was responsible already last year. However, for that second qualification stage Thailand got direct entry. The campaign was played out of just one group and only the first spot guaranteed a place in the final tournament. U19 faced Chinese-Taipei, Uzbekistan, Iran and Vietnam.
AFC couldn't do better in creating an arc of suspense, to put the match between Vietnam and Thailand on the last day. At first the ladies won their opener against Taipei just to draw in the next against Uzbekistan. With no doubt, the match against Iran was the highlight for the "Changsuek", thumbing Iran by nine goals to nil. Everything was going down to the wire, in the last match. With Vietnam not have given up any point so far, Thailand needed to win in order to advance over their archival. But in the end it was only a goal less draw, which of course was not enough.
The two most successful goal scorers within the squad have been Thaoto Pajaree and Taneekarn Dangda. Thaoto scored six times and five of them cam from the match against Iran. Japan hit four past Thais Thailand lost 4-0 to Japan in their opening game of the women's football tournament yesterday.
The Thais, who were defeated by the Japanese by the same scoreline at the Asian Championship this year, got off to a lively start and created several chances in the opening minutes.
But once Japan, the losing finalists four years ago, found their rhythm, the match became one-sided.
Ayako Kitamoto and Shinobu Ohno gave Japan a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Mizuho Sakaguchi added another for Japan in the second half and Thidarat Changpluk scored an own goal in the 87th minute to complete the rout.
The two teams are in Group B alongside defending champions North Korea. The top two teams from each of the two groups progressing to the semi-finals.
In men's football, Thailand coach Bryan Robson has promised that he and his men will give their all to beat Turkmenistan in the second round tomorrow.
The Englishman said he knew that Thai fans were disappointed that Thailand could only draw 0-0 with Maldives in their last group game last week and the team want to win back their faith with win over Turkmenistan.
A second-string Thailand side drew 2-2 with Turkmenistan in Bangkok in a warm-up match before the Asiad and Robson said that he would use the strongest line-up this time.

Judging from how Myanmar is doing up to this point, winning by a goal is already quite difficult. My heart go out to all the players and coaching staff of Thailand U16's. It has been that kind of year for Thailand football.
However, it doesn't surprise me as women's football development according to Vision Thailand's blueprint is being suspended until further notice.

I think there's an error in the report. From the competition rules, they went through on Head to Head. Here are the competition rules from the AFC website: "In the league system the ranking in each group is determined in the following sequence: i. Greater number of points obtained in all group matches; ii. If two or more Teams are equal on the basis of the above criterion, their place shall be determined in the following sequence and order: A) Greater number of points obtained in the group matches between the Teams concerned;B) Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the Teams concerned; C) Greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the Teams concerned; D) Goal difference in all the group matches;.... Obviously, there's more. If you're interested, go here. The bit I've copied is article 9f. http://www.the-afc.com/uploads/Documents/common/cms/afc/AFCWU_U16_Regulations_20080919.pdf

Gentlemen, Here is how the tie breaker work for this tournament f) In the league system the ranking in each group is determined in the following sequence: i. Greater number of points obtained in all group matches; ii. If two or more Teams are equal on the basis of the above criterion, their place shall be determined in the following sequence and order:A) Greater number of points obtained in the group matches between the Teams concerned; (Tied=9:9) B) Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the Teams concerned; (THA=2, MYN=1 =2-1= THA+1) C) Greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the Teams concerned; ( THA=2, MYN=1) D) Goal difference in all the group matches; (Thank goodness don't have to get here) E) Greater number of goals scored in all the group matches; F) Kicks from the penalty mark if only two Teams are involved and they are both on the field of play; G) Fewer number of points according to the number of yellow and red cards received in the group matches. H) Drawing of lots Myanmar would have won it had Taipei beats Vietnam but they were tied 3-3 thereby Taipei was eliminated from otherwise complexed head-to-head competition as they beat Thailand, Thaialnd beats Myanmar and Myanmar beat Taipei. Thanks to Vietnam. Like a good nieghbour, Vietnam was there. I knew it all along we can count on those beautiful smiles! While location has yet to be announced, here is Final Round Schedule:

26th SEA Games not to have female football HA NOI – Female football will not be played at the 26th South East Asian Games in Indonesia following a decision by the Indonesia organising committee, a major blow to the Viet Nam team which is the defending champion.
Viet Nam Olympic Committee general secretary Hoang Vinh Giang said it would be difficult to change the committee's decision.
Indonesia was not good at female football so the Games committee was not eager for this event, he said.
"The Games committee's reason is that they don't have enough football grounds," Giang said. "To organise the female football event, they need two Asian Football Confederation standard grounds, not including training grounds.
"The Viet Nam committee will give its opinion on this problem at the meeting with Indonesia to discuss competition programmes. We will request they hold female football. But in my experience, there is little chance to modify the Games committee's determination. They have the right to add or reject events."
