but note that the 27m is not to spend on the squad, it's to be spent on the Stadium and that money is FAT's money... not Nong Khai's money.

It's the same as how Narathiwat got 42m to spend on building 1 stadium and upgrading the current stadium to more than 20,000 seats. Narathiwat FC doesn't get anything from that other than having a better stadium. Basically in another word, Nong Khai FC nor Narathiwat FC are not getting any money but it's the City Councils that are getting the money.

But how does that work, Natt? Do Nong Khai and Narathiwat just say "Hey, FAT, we want xx milllion baht for a new stadium."
How come Nong Khai and Narathiwat get these windfalls from the FAT?

Well you have to understand the thai political system first lol. Basically the City Council has to request FAT for funds and then FAT ask the Government Cabinet for approval for funds. FAT also checks if you need to upgrade the stadium or not. For example if Bangkok request for another stadium then FAT are unlikely to reject the request because Bangkok doesn't need another stadium.

But if you really need it like if you need to upgrade the lights (eg how Chiang Mai asked for 6m to upgrade the floodlights) then they will see if you have passed the current requirements of league or not. They also look at how ready you are to upgrade it for example if you just ask for 20m to upgrade a stadium from 1,000 seats to 1,500 seats. They will just say that you are not ready in terms of how you manage funds etc.

and also if the population of the area is above a certain number of people or not. eg. if your making a stadium of 20,000 in an area where there's only 5,000 people then they will reject your request since you don't need a stadium of that size.

Well, listening to the way Nong Khai are talking up their promotion chances for next season they obviously think the team are going to benefit from this injection of funds in some way.

do you know any team that have troubles with money?
I only know that Loei (some reports say they are in debt, some say they are rich), Phitsanulok and Thai Port that are in financial troubles.

But Thai Port have takeover deals in place from what I heard so I don't think that they will have financial troubles anymore.

Thanks, very interesting. Would that be an explanation why the constructions on new Pattaya (United's) stadium are stopped?

Phitsanoluk? Imaginable.

KKFC budget this season is 10 Mio.

Seems like KKFC really made their 10m budget useful. Teams like Sisaket and Bangkok United really spent a lot more than that (Sisaket spent 20m, Rajnavy spent 20m and Bangkok United spent 30m) and their positions in the league are quite poor.

The worst spenders this season will likely to be TOT-CAT FC because they spent 50+ million this season. Some say maybe even up to 100m.

I don't think its easy to compare teams in different leagues. KK, will have to up there budget if they go up.

They do. Looks like they have their master plan and sponsors already on hand and prepared in case they go up.
