Tomorrow will be the first time a goal has been scored in a BPEA v Port fixture this season (even if it comes in a penalty shootout). Both league games finished 0-0, and they didn't meet in the FA Cup.

The final will be a tight game. It wouldn't surpise me if it ends up a stalemate after 90 mins. I've watched Thai Port several times this season and they usually play a defensive game. They'll try and suck up the PEA pressure and hope that Sarayoot can create some magic in front of goal or that one of the big central defenders can score from a set-piece.

Half time TP 2 PEA 1
TP scored early. Buriram awarded a penalty shortly after it was NEVER a penalty - the TP defender was shirt tugging but it was way outside the box - but it was a red card so the officials' incompetence evened out. TP scored later and had what looked like a very strong penalty claim denied but I need to see the reply to be sure.

That's pretty much how I saw it. We were denied the replay when T-Sport cut to an advert for........wait for it........the League Cup final!!! How annoying is all the invisible card waving? Both sides are at it and it's driving me mad.

It was a clear penalty for TPFC. I could see that even with my crappy stream.

Final score is same; TP 2 PEA 1
PEA pressured but had little real chance apart from a good shot that hit the bar. TP looked tired but kept their shape well and held out. The ref seemed very balanced, credit to him. I'd say TP deserved it for their first half showing.

A fair summary of the match. I actually thought that the second half was pretty dull. But that could have been due to the fatigue you mention.

Congratulations to Thai Port they deserved to win the Cup today with there performance. But i have to say how can a referee award a penalty but only show a yellow card when the offender is the last man?.

I agree that it should have been red or nothing. You see such inconsistency in refs out here. Obviously he wanted to give a punishment but was scared of ruining the game so early on. It probably evened out as Port had what looked to be a screamingly clear penalty denied later on.

I was at the game today and I do agree with your comments about the game. I thought Thai Port shaded the first half and defended well in the second to win the cup. Apart from Suchao's effort that hit the bar, PEA never really threatened after the break.
The Buriram penalty was at the other end of the ground so I couldn't see clearly if it was inside or outside the box, but if the ref awarded the penalty then he should have red carded the TP defender as he was the last man. On the other hand, Thai Port should have had a penalty just before half time with what looked like a blatant hack. I suppose the 2 decisions evened themselves out.
I didn't know that Sarayoot was suspended for this game. It kind of worked in Thai Port's favour as they played a more direct game rather than playing the ball into Saryoot's feet. I thought front 2 partnership of Ekkachai and Sompong were excellent in the first half.
The stadium wasn't full. I would say PEA filled about 95% of their end and Thai Port about 70%. There was a lot of security in and around the stadium and things were generally well organised today. Let's hope that they are finally learning how to organise football crowds.

If its a Red it does not matter what minute of the game it is in.You cannot even it out but denying a penalty at te other end.If Thai Port had gone down to 10 men it may well have altered the result. But IF is a small word with a BIG meaning.

I'm not saying he did the right thing, I'm just saying what I think went through his mind. It was his inconsistency that evened itself out, rather than any judiciousness on his part. I think the better team did win though IMHO.

However, on TV the TPFC crowed looked bigger than at last years FA Cup final. As TPFC won, now we can start to puzzle out on which cup competition in Japan they will participate. I do absolutely no clue about.

It looked to me like it was way outside the box but the player craftily ran a few more steps then went down inside the box. I'm sure a replay will appear online soon.

I only caught the last 5 minutes on TV, and both sides looked knackered. Even PEA, who I would have expected to be showing some urgency seemed at walking pace. Was there rain or heavy track? Or was the part I missed really frenetic?

The first half was entertaining enough, with plenty of talking points, but it just fizzled out after the break. Hope it's a better match next weekend.

Just watched that video, and can't see much wrong with the penalty. The shirt-tugging happens outside the area, but their legs get tangled right on the edge of the box. Mario's also the last man, so I'm sure that's a red too.

on the clip from T-Sport you even can see how Mario da Silva were pushin him a little, and that was already in the box.

I was with BKK73 at the game and agree with the points he made.
I think the question of whether TP should have been down to 10 men is irrelevant since the game is over and TP are champions. Rather than berate local refereeing decisions, let's take a look first at the league they probably try to learn from - the Barclays Premier League. Awful decisions week in, week out. Some benefit your team and some go against you.
I was surprised by Buriram's lack of heart today. They were a shadow of the team that have performed well in big games this season.

I didn't know that Sarayoot was suspended for this game.
He was ruled out. Btw did some you guys realized that PEA was hurt by the same gameplay all the time? The first and second goal, the not given penalty, the big chance right after the equalizer. Everything over the right flank, and Sompong delivered the cross into the box all the time.

I also noticed a PEA player slip over in the lead-up to all 3 goals.

Thai Port won 5 million baht for winning the Cup. Buriram-PEA get 1 million as runners-up, and the losing semi-finalists, Navy-Rayong and Osotspa each receive 100,000.
Sarayoot Chaikamdee gets a Toyota Camry Hybrid worth 1,809,000 for winning Player of the Tournament. Cleiton Silva (Osotspa) was the Golden Boot winner with 9 goals, and receives a Yamaha Mio motorcycle worth 45,500. He was also Young Player of the Tournament, winning another Yamaha motorbike. Ronnachai Rangsiyo (Muang Thong Utd) also gets a Yamaha bike for scoring the fastest goal of the Cup. Si Saket get the Fair Play Award (A Toyota Hilux Vigo Double-cab Free Runner worth 761,000)
Thai Port also get to play Shonan Bellmare of the J-League at Supachalasai on February 13th. Shonan have just been relegated to J-2, after 1 season back in the top flight.

I've got to swallow my pride and admit it was a very watchable game - particularly the first half. Definitely should have been a red card, as others have said, in the first half for TP, and, let's be fair, if it had happened at the other end we would all have been screaming corruption. A good end to a competition that didn't really deserve a good final. It has to start earlier next seaso and be reduced to one-leg rounds.
And, yes, the card-waving by players - Douglas in particular - was very unpleasant.

great game and a good win for thai port i think the same as most people about the red card, but if the ref had sent a player off so early in the game we could be saying what a terrible game it was. i ,think all in all the ref was ok we never got much from him but then again we never deserved that much anyway, well done thai port.

There's nothing wrong with the TLC itself, just the way it was organised (as in, it wasn't).
Next season space it out and make only the first round proper two-legged.

When Saryoot is playing he tends drop off the central defenders. The tactic far too often is to play the ball into his feet and then hope he can produce something. Yesterday they played a more direct game and used the long balls to release players down the wings to supply crosses. As I said earlier, I thought that Sompong and Ekkachai were both excellent.

Maybe I was wrong, but shouldn't it be the 23rd February? And sorry guys, but no change in modus next year. We even will see more matches with new clubs added to the 3rd tier. Ok you never know, but at least that was the statement yesterday from FAT General Secretary.

@loko: You're right, again - It is February. The article I was reading on the official League Cup site has the 13th though. However, I did pick up one or two errors in the story, so it could be a typo. Great photos, love the caption on the 2nd one.

Buriram grab the treble after Cup win Buriram PEA completed a historic treble last night after defeating Thai Port in the League Cup final at Supachalasai stadium.
Goals from Rangsan Vivatchaichok after 21 minutes and Clarence Bintang in the dying moments gave Buriram PEA their third trophy of the season after earlier success in the Thai Premier League and the FA Cup.
It was sweet revenge for the northeastern side who were upset by Port in the final last season.
"It's a dream come true _ we have won three trophies this season," said Buriram PEA chairman Newin Chidchob.
"I am very happy. We have worked very hard in the past two years and achieved great success."
This season was only the club's second as Buriram PEA after Newin took over Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) in 2010. He then moved the club from Ayutthaya to his home province of Buri Ram and changed the name to Buriram PEA.
Buriram PEA coach Attapol Bussapakom said: "We are very happy and we have been rewarded for our hard work. We will have a tougher task next season though as we will also play in the AFC Champions League."
Buriram PEA will become Buriram United next season after they merged with their sister club Buriram FC.
In wet conditions, Buriram PEA and Port had chances early on but the Thunder Castle went ahead in the 21st minute with a Rangsan free-kick.
