ENGLAND OFFERED THAILAND FRIENDLYClaims that England have already agreed to play Thailand in June next year have been played down. Reports in the Thai press had said a fixture was confirmed. But Worawi Makudi, the president of the Thai FA and a FIFA executive committee member, said he had invited England to play Thailand as part of the birthday celebrations of the country's king and the Football Association have yet to respond to the invitation. Worawi said: "I have invited the England national team to come to Thailand next year - it would be a great honour and a great match for the fans. "It is up to the FA now to see whether they can accept this invitation." England already have a Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland on June 4 next year so travelling to Thailand afterwards for a friendly would be problematical. As one of the 24 men on FIFA's executive committee Worawi is a key figure for England in terms of their bid for the 2018 World Cup, and bid leaders have met him on a number of occasions. He is a keen follower of English football and will be in London to watch the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Portsmouth next month. Bryan Robson, the former England midfielder, is coach of the Thai national side. Link: http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_6111290,00.html Back-pedal, back-pedal, back-pedal... :

So it looks like our match against Muang Thong on the 28th will be postponed again. And our game at Tero on June 2nd must also be in doubt. Terrific!!! http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifc/club_news.pl?news=352246Clubwebsite automatically censored my story. They put an asterisk in Association. I'm now deperately trying to find a link between Chonburi and Scunthorpe United .

Is it absolutely, iron-clad confirmed? Or will we have a typical 'Worawi retraction' (try saying that quickly after a few Changs) tomorrow?

Why the hell would SA want to play Thailand as a warm up game for the world cup?
Do they think it will be a confidence building one sided victory??? For Thailand maybe!!!!

Thank you jonny for giving the news . Thailand may not bring main players of Muang Thong United to South Africa because they will have played Al Rayyan in AFC Cup on May 11th . Any chance for a Thailand sub team against the host ? " The Thailand showdown will kick off at 15h30 " => !!! Have a lot of sweat

This is next week, what kind of professional-serious friendly this should be for Thailand if you (players and staff) have nearly no time to prepare and everybody is focused on AFC Cup and TPL? I can't really imagine that Thailand will go their with the full squad. Maybe it will be more a U23 Asian Game squad.

Normally at this time you play teams which having the same style of play as your opponents in the groupstage of an WC. But SA doesn't have any Asian NT to play. Maybe it also some kind of sport political decission.

Why South Africa didn't choose some Asian teams who are stronger than Thailand , such as Iran , China , Saudi Arabia ... to warm up ? Moreover , there are no any Asian team in the host's groupstage ( Group A : France , Mexico , Uruguay and South Africa ) .

Tickets for the Liverpool game were 600-3000 baht but I think it was the promotional company who set those prices, not the FAT. You would like to think that the FAT would not want to alienate Thais from the match and will price accordingly. However, they may just see it as a cash cow and try and earn as much as they can from the fixture. A Korat fan predicted 2,000 baht for the cheapest ticket but I really don't think the FAT will go down that route. Time will tell.

ey boys c'mon. You are talking about a one time Worldchamp, not about a 3 time champ But England will be reigning World Champions when they come to Thailand. Didn't agree often regarding England. But in that case I have to. Spain and England are my two favorites.

If they happen to come the Thailand as the World Champ, Vinnie will have to stay home an watch in on the tube as security force will be sent out to intercept people form outside Bangkok area to prevent potential overcrowded stadium.
about 30 years ago I paid 600 baht to see Helen Ready performance at Thai-Japanese Auditorium adjacent to the football stadium. 600-3000 baht for this match would probably be a reasonable range.

KO local and CET is 15:30. So THA + 5. Game will be broadcasted in SA for sure. So there should be a cance of a broadcast in Thai TV.
Edit: Just checked google a bit, and so far as I could see, there would be enough live streams in the internet of the broadcasting channel SABC.

If Iam not wrong, Darby is leading the team as coach. Robson is not with the team. The whole trip took them about 24 hours, with changing the plane in HK. The stadium is expected to be sold out. KO now 15:00 local, 20:00 thai time.

Bryan Robson warns World Cup managers of trumpet noise Former England captain Bryan Robson believes World Cup managers could struggle against the noise of the South African plastic trumpet, the vuvuzela. Robson, who is manager of Thailand, saw his side lose 4-0 to South Africa in a warm-up match in Nelspruit on Sunday. But the deafening and tuneless noise from the trumpet drowned out his instructions from the bench and he had to call players over to the sidelines. "With that noise they could have an advantage in the World Cup," he said. "If the atmosphere is like that in the World Cup it will raise the level of the players a little bit. If the supporters are behind them like that, it will be a big boost. "The coaches at the World Cup are definitely going to have to inform their players beforehand that they will have to communicate effectively with each other on the field. "It's very difficult to get any message to the players from the bench. Coaches are going to have to make that known to their players." Complaints about the vuvuzela during last year's Confederations Cup in South Africa were rejected by Fifa, who said there would be no ban on the long plastic instrument at the World Cup. But South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira is happy for the vuvuzela to continue when the tournament starts next month. "We have to reinforce that advantage," he said. "We want it louder and louder." Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8685750.stm I find it hard to believe that native Thais could be disadvantaged by noise. That's a bit like saying the English team are disadvantaged by cups of tea, or Americans being disadvantaged by Hollywood movies :-)

I've known it before when watching some matches in Confederation Cup last year ! It sounds like " the sound of bluebottles " . Thais undone by World Cup hosts Nelspruit: Thailand were comprehensively defeated 4-0 by South Africa on Sunday as the 2010 World Cup hosts opened the Mbombela Stadium with a victory in front of a sell-out 30,000 fans.
Goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan was unable to repeat the impressive form he showed in the AFC Cup as Muangthong United edged hot favourites Al Rayyan in Qatar to book a place in the quarter-finals and was beaten three times in a 13-minute spell as Bafana Bafana cruised to a comfortable 3-0 lead at the interval.
Kaizer Chiefs’ midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before a quick-fire double from Katlego Mphela made it 3-0, with the Mamelodi Sundowns’ striker scoring on the half-hour mark and again three minutes later.
Siyabonga Nomvete had a goal ruled out for offside with ten minutes left to play but South Africa did get their fourth when Bernard Parker scored on the stroke of full-time, slotting home a Teko Modise pass past Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool who had replaced Kawin at half-time .

'Atlantico Madrid' to play Thailand at the end of July according to Nig's site. Presumably it's Athletico Madrid? Anybody know any more about this? http://www.thaileaguefootball.com/Nothing on their website (yet). Thailand tried getting Real Madrid, but appears they got the lesser of the two. In all seriousness though, i do think Thailand need to start playing more international teams to prepare for AFF Cup and World Cup qualifiers. Is it good to play clubsides in their pre-season?

Folks at FAT are gathering around the BBQ in their backyard thinking they need to provoke football interest still.
Could someone kindly go over and bongz them on the heads and tell them 'it's the beef that we need!'
