10 minutes ago from Thai Premier League on Facebook (Google`s translation):

"Courtesy of the Football Association to consider a resolution to punish the club Nakhon Pathom Disqualification to compete in soccer each of the Football Association's list for 2 years and fined a total of 160,000 Baht"

In my opinion the 2 year ban is the wrong punishment. I don't think it's fair on the genuine supports and staff of Nakhon Pratom that have done nothing wrong. Why should they suffer because of the action of a few morons.
The fine on the other hand seems a bit light. Perhaps another zero on the figure would have been more appropriate.
Again as I've said beforehand, have any punishments been handed out to the individuals who committed the beatings?

So now we'll possibly have a 17 team division 1 next season. It kind of makes a mockery of all the recent play-offs to form an 18 team 1st division. Or perhaps there be another play-off to take NP's place?

Also with the current TPL play-off what will happen? Do Sisaket automatically get a TPL spot after this disqualification? If NP games are void that would leave Sisaket and Air Force on one point a piece.  Huh?

Yes, it's harsh on the genuine support, but there was members of the NP staff involved in this... A terrible example to all. I think it's the correct punishment.

I just hope it's a sign of things to come when it comes to dealing with clubs and making tough decisions.

It also appears that Sisaket will play the final match against Air Force. If Sisaket win, D1 will have 17 teams. If they fail to win, Nakorn Pathom would have gained promotion and then the TPL will have 17 teams.

I think it says after 2 years they will be re-instated in D1 regardless.

Yes, NP Stuff was involved. I think the guy with the gun, was one of them. Two years are seem to harsh in my eyes. On the other hand, TPL may want to make a statment for once and for all. And we can only hope that all other take note.

NP will reinstalled after two years. However, I am not sure we will see NP back in three years.

Don't forget Ubon United got banned for two years in 2009 and Ubon Tiger were born, same could just happen for NP.

Yes it's true. So if Air Force get a draw or win on Saturday we will have a 17 team TPL next season.  Bah!!

Well, they need to do something and if nothing else, a 2 year ban will make all other teams sit up and take notice, hard on the fans that weren't involved but a fine won't get the message across like a lengthy ban will. If the ban is imposed then a line in the sand has been drawn for all the competition.

Eleven of those involved have been identified and have met with or will be meeting with the police very soon. While sometimes justice gets handed out very quickly in Thailand it might take a little longer to go through the courts than it does for the TPL to impose their sanctions.

Welcome to the web-board, by the way Smiley Do you follow a particular team?

Thanks. As I live in your neck of the woods I have recently been keeping an eye on the fortunes of BG. Haven't been around much for the games this season but will try to get to see a few next season, although my wife isn't so keen after some of the disturbances she has seen on TV lately.

And while they wait to dish out justice, the Nakhon Pathom 11 disappear overseas.

I reported in the Nakhon Pathom thread back in 2008 that NP got fined for beating up the referee, maybe there bad record has gone against them this time.

It's probably the same supporters that beat up the ref in 2008 and 2010.

And then back for more in 2012!!

Reading the article on Bkkpost earlier it also said that NP could be disbanded if they do anything wrong in there 2 year ban, so how can they do anything wrong if they can't play?

Maybe I am wrong, but my interpretion is different. In case of any wrong doing AFTER the ban, they will be banned forever.

Yep, your right, i've read it again.

So, who's going to be the first set of fans to wind them up on day one of the 2013 season?

Sisaket 2-1 Air Force Utd

Final Standings:
Sisaket 8, (Nakhon Pathom 7), Air Force 1

So Sisaket will regain their TPL status for 2011. That will mean an 18 team top flight for the forthcoming season.
The question now is what will happen with Division 1. Will they leave it as a 17 team league now that Nakhon Pathom have been suspended, or will there be more play-offs?

They say they will keep it at 17 but I wouldn't be surprised if they play-off the 4 losers of the playoff's playoffs until 1 team remains and they get the extra spot.
I wouldn't put anything past them.

I really hope there are more play-offs. I'd like to see the seasons overlap. Wink

We're always saying the TFA are too soft so let's give credit when it's due.
I applaud the punishment handed out by the TFA. Yes it's very harsh on the fans who did nothing wrong but I think the final straw is seeing club staff threatening a referee like that. When that happens a very clear message must be sent out to show that a line has been crossed. You can bet any of these would-be hard men on team staff who love to run out and yell at or shove officials as we so often see will think twice about it from now on.

Now that the TFA have shown some mettle, they need to ensure that the "security" staff at football games actually have some clue what they are doing. The scenes with NP could have been avoided if security staff were trained, had some conviction and if fans were made aware that they can and would be legally punished for their misbehaviour.

What about the players? Are they free to tear up their contracts and look for other clubs?

On another note, I think NP actually had a press conference a few weeks before that match with Si Saket (perhaps after their first meeting), to complain about the referees. I'm sure I saw a photo of the club president, with a number of coaching staff  & players standing behind him as he made his statement. Probably didn't help things.

If you talk about NP players, yes they are. However the coach is close to sign with Suphaburi FC and a few key players from NP will move with him.
