They will start to realize how valuable Darby is, when he moves on to any other SEA Country, and is able to do his work there. Then he will overhaul Thailand, and Thailand and the media will start to weep.

Just noticed the Technical Director job in Singapore is up for grabs. Someone shoudl send this on to Steve Darby http://www.fas.org.sg/default.asp?V_DOC_ID=3399 Deadline has just gone, but i'm sure FAS would allow a late entrant.

Kn Virat is part of old boys network so he will be okay. But how do you suppose football development will moving forward when 1. the person who is capable of helping got suspended and 2. I have never heard of a Thai coach received suspension order as it is the same as 'execution verdict'. Players will now have a great deal of respect for Darby, what a way of building faith in the progaram and charactor of coach/trainer. Ayutthaya was overran by the Burmese twice but no records of General who were suspended (according to the LI-KE-ลิเก I have watched ). Those too, we suppose to win them all.

Anyone know if Thailand are home or away in the first leg? I'm sure it's at home, but heard no more since the initial story. Will update when more news comes out - probably a day before the game! Expect something like a 3pm kickoff to boot.

I think this type of game in the past as always been played at a smaller venue such as Thai-Japanese, normally followed by a sudden change of venue the day before without telling anyone

Regarding home or away, I notice that each of the matches posted not in alphabetical orders, rule thumb, teams that are listed first should be the home teams. In that case, first leg should be in Thailand. As for stadium, I have no idea.

Soccer team looks to SEA Games after Olympic disqualification With the faint hope of overturning the team's disqualification from the Olympic qualifiers all but extinguished, Thailand's Under23 team manager Kasem Jaliyawatwong has now fixed his sights on reclaiming the SEA Games title in Indonesia later this year .
Thailand were punished for fielding an ineligible player in the home tie against Palestine in the preliminary round of qualifying for London 2012. As a result the Middle East nation was awarded a 3-0 win and a ticket to the next round at the Thais' expense with a 40 aggregate victory.
The Thai camp felt they had a strong case against the disqualification since the player in question earned his suspension while playing in the Under20 Championship three years ago. They believed he had already served the ban in the Asian Games last year.
However, it was revealed that the Asian Football Confederation had never sanctioned those Games, meaning the player's suspension remained effective.
Worawi Makudi, the caretaker president of the Football Association of Thailand, who last week met the AFC chief Mohamed Bin Hammam to discuss the subject, yesterday decided to call off a press conference initially scheduled to address the issue.
Kasem, already resigned to his team's fate, wants his players to shift their focus to the SEA Games campaign. Hosted by Indonesia in November, the tournament will give Thailand the chance to restore some pride after their embarrassing exit at the group stage two years ago.
"We need to wait for confirmation that we're out of the Olympic qualifiers. If we are eliminated, I want the team to continue their training programme with the SEA Games in mind," said Kasem.
"These days, the SEA Games is no longer an easy competition. We need to prepare the team as best as we can. We paid a high price with our Olympic disqualification. However, it's no use to moaning about it, as we have the [SEA] Games to look forward to ."

SEA GAMES 2011: THAILAND TO START TRAINING IN TWO DAYS BANGKOK (20 Aug 2011) – With the SEA Games in Indonesia barely three months away, the Thai Under-23 team will start training in two days – an early indication for them to avoid the humiliation of two years ago.
The Thais, who were chasing their ninth crown in a row in Laos in 2009, did not even qualify for the semi-finals when they were denied by eventual champions Malaysia.
But this time round, the FA of Thailand (FAT) have managed to get the cooperation of the stakeholders in the Thai Premier League (TPL) and it has been agreed that the senior team and the national U23 team will be given priority over the league fixtures in the next several months.
The list of 30 players will be announced this week with a second camp already in the plan for early October either in Chiang Mai or Phuket.
The FAT have appointed Prapon Pongpanich from Bangkok United as the chief coach while Vithoon Kijmongkolsak will be the assistant.

Thai coach impressed by SEA Games squad's fitness Thailand coach Prapol Pongpanich is thrilled with the progress of the squad's fitness ahead of the SEA Games in Indonesia.
Thailand will play their first game against defending champions Malaysia on Nov 9 and Prapol yesterday put his players through their paces at Karon beach in Phuket.
Prapol said: "The players are now getting fit and this is very good for the team. But they must improve their scoring and defending.
"Therefore, the last warm-up match with FC Phuket on Nov 3 will be the test of everything and after this match, the team will be in good shape."
However, midfielder Naruepol Ar-romsawa is struggling with a groin injury and will rest over the next few days.
Thailand manager Kasem Jariyawatwong said: "I have told the players to be very careful with injuries because we only have a week left for the SEA Games. We will leave for Indonesia on Nov 6.
"I told the team doctor to take good care of Naruepol and I hope he will get fit before the first match. I don't want to risk him by playing him in the last warm-up match."

Late Malaysia winner stuns Thailand Thailand are in danger of elimination after losing 2-1 to Malaysia in their opening match at the 26th SEA Games yesterday.
Bakhtiar Baddrol opened the scoring for Malaysia after 24 minutes and Ramlan Izzaq Faris hit the winner for the defending champions in the 85th minute after Natarid Thammroddodpon fired an equaliser for the Thais five minutes earlier.
In fact, Thailand played badly in every department and could have lost by a much bigger had Malaysia's forwards been sharper in the Group A encounter at the Gelora Bung Karno (Senayan) stadium.
Malaysia also defeated the Thais 2-1 in the last group game at the 2009 Games in Laos as the eight-time defending champions Thailand were eliminated in the first round for the first time for decades.
If Thailand fail to get past the group stage in Indonesia, it will be the first time in Games history that they suffer two consecutive early exits.
And that is not impossible as they still have to play hosts Indonesia and Singapore, as well as minnows Cambodia.
"I don't know what happened to my players. They played much below their standard," Thailand coach Prapol Pongpanich said after yesterday's match.
Thailand manager Kasem Jariyawatwong chose to look on the bright side saying that "we still have three matches to play."
But he admitted that getting past the first round was not easy. "We have no choice, we have to win the remaining three games," he said.
Kasem said Thailand had to change their tactics after falling behind and when they got an equaliser he thought the momentum was on Thailand's side but it turned out to be the other way round.
Thailand's defenders, particularly Sutjarit Jantakol and Chalemsak Kaewsooktae, were a weak link while goalkeeper Ukrit Wongmeema looked shaky.
The Thais got off to a lively start but soon ran out of sorts as the Malaysians looked more dangerous and tormented the Thai rearguard throughout the match.
A large number of Thai fans at home were infuriated by the poor performance and heavily criticised the team on websites and in radio programmes.
"It would be better for you to return home to help the flood victims," said a fan in a radio programme.
"You should stop talking about winning the title if you could only play like this," a fan wrote on a website.
In Group A, Malaysia and Singapore have four points each from two games. Indonesia have three points from one match, while Thailand and Cambodia are still looking for their first point.
The top two teams from each of the two groups advance to the semi-finals.
Thailand play Cambodia tomorrow at 5pm.

Thailand team return to winning ways JAKARTA : The Thai football team put their stuttering campaign back on track with a 4-0 win over Cambodia yesterday.
It was a much-needed triumph for Thailand who lost 2-1 to defending champions Malaysia in their opening Group A game on Wednesday.
In a one-sided match, forward Ronnachai Rangsiyo squandered several chances before Natarid Thmmroddodpon, his partner up front, opened the scoring after 17 minutes with a superb long range shot.
Cambodia defended bravely with goalkeeper Um Vichet making several good saves.
Thailand comfortably shifted into another gear in the second half but had to wait until the 72nd minute to get their second goal when Attapong Nooprom headed the ball past Vichet.
Four minutes later, Kroekrit Thawikan made it 3-0 and Attapong scored his second goal after 83 minutes.
Thailand manager Kasem Jariyawatwong said he was happy that his men won.
"We had to win so we attacked from the start," he said.
"Cambodia played well but we had more chances and we took them."
Kasem added: "I had told the players that they could not lose and they gave their all to bring back the fans' faith.
"After we were leading 1-0, we were under pressure because we were afraid that Cambodia would score like they did against Singapore [who won 2-1] in their previous match.
"But we kept piling the pressure on them and actually we could have scored 10 goals."
Thailand will next face hosts Indonesia tomorrow at 7pm and Kasem said his players were ready for the crucial clash.
"We will play before a hostile crowd in a packed stadium. But I think my players will be able to control their temper. We must go for a win as a draw may not be enough for us to progress to the semi-finals."
In yesterday's other Group A match, Indonesia defeated Singapore 2-0 with first-half goals from Patrich Wanggai and Titus Bonai.
The top two teams from each of the two groups advance to the semi-finals.

Woeful nine-man Thailand crash out in first round yet again JAKARTANine-man Thailand suffered their second straight first round exit in the football tournament after losing 3-1 to Indonesia in a stormy encounter last night.
Goals from Titus Bonai (33), Patrich Wanggai (63) and Ferdinan Sinaga (90) sent Indonesia to the semi-finals as one of the top two teams of Group A.
Ronnachai Rangsiyo gave Thailand a ray of hope in the 50th minute when he netted from the spot but the kingdom never really looked like fighting back.
With one round of matches to go, Indonesia lead the group with a maximum nine points. Malaysia have seven points, Singapore four, Thailand three and Cambodia zero.
In an ill-tempered match at Gelora Bung Karno (Senayan) stadium, Thailand were reduced to nine men as Teerathorn Bunmathan was sent off after just 12 minutes and Ekkasit Chaobut received his marching orders in the 74th minute.
It has been a miserable spell for Chaobut as this was his second red card in the space of just three days. He was dismissed in the full national side's 3-0 defeat at Saudi Arabia in a World Cup qualifier on Friday and rushed to help the U23 team at the SEA Games.
With only 10 players after Teerathorn was sent off for a second bookable offence, Thailand put up a brave fight in front of a hostile crowd and kept a clean sheet until the 33rd minute when Titus opened the scoring.
However, five minutes into the second half, Thailand was awarded a penalty when Sarach Yooyen was tripped in the area and Ronnachai made no mistake from the spot.
But Indonesia went in front again in the 62nd minute when Patrich headed the ball home before Ferdinan put the match beyond any doubt in the dying moments as Thailand were eliminated in the first round in two SEA Games in a row for the first time.
''I am very sorry,'' said Thailand manager Kasem Jariyawatwong. I don't want to blamed the players or anyone _ I take full responsibility. I don't want to blame Teerathorn for being sent off. He is sad too. He still has a bright future. In football, anything can happen.''
He added: ''I don't want to talk about the referee. People can make their own judgement from what they saw.''
Worawi Makudi, president of the Football Association of Thailand, said: ''I am shocked. We were unluckly to have two players sent off.''
In yesterday's other Group A match, defending champions Malaysia defeated Cambodia 4-1.

Charouek Areeratchakaran, secretary-general of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, was so confident that the football squad would go all the way that he booked their return flight for Nov 23 _ two days after the football final.
Instead, they had to return home long before the football tournament ended after they crashed out following defeats against Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore and one win over minnows Cambodia.
