Sad to hear that one of the true footballing greats has passed away. Possibly the most respected man in the game.

I just heard the news. Very sad indeed. He was said to be a nice guy, and a true gentleman. He was also an excellent manager.

great man treated every  one with respect  and will be sorely missed true football man he will watch from the clouds above and still look football .RIP

No-one had a bad word to say about him, extraordinary in a game which is often so partisan and divisive. I was talking about Italia 90 in another thread and of course it is the memory of Bobby Robson on the pitch with Gazza, and the dignity he showed in the aftermath of that match which will live long in the memory. Dignity which the press rarely showed in the late eighties, as jc referred to.
