And now unlocked, excellent!
How frustrating that Korat don't play this weekend. They've won three in a row and probably feel like they want to play every day at the moment but (in the words of General Melchett) they "have to sit it out on the touchlines with the fat, wheezy boys with a note from matron."! Whilst Narathiwat and Songkhla have home bankers against Sakhon Nakhon and Chachoengsao. Whose bright idea was it to put 11 teams in a division?

Guess it was a bit daft having 11 instead of 12.

What i also find a bit daft is that both leagues can spread you around the whole country. Wouldn't it have been wiser to have two regional divisions at this level - simply North and South.

I can't imagine how some teams travel to the far south and expect to get a point, it seems more of a survival mission. And must be costly to these club, whereas the richer clubs are all in the Premier League and generally travel around Bangkok

North and south would have made more sense but because of the peculiar shape of the country some very long journeys would still be unavoidable. That said, I do like the fact that our division only comprises teams which represent a particular area. As for travelling expenses, surely the FAT must help out. It would be the absolute height of unfairness if they didn't.

I agree Vinnie, but why than in that case not to create 3 or 4 regional divsions. In the last case for example with one team got promoted. Which would mean you can have 4 Teams promoted in total. Like we had in Germany a couple of years ago. Similar to the called Oberliga.

That's a good idea Loko'. I guess, because of the shape of the country, it would be north, south, east and central. The only problem I can see is that if there was a runaway team at the top of the division, that is, a team that just beat everyone else, then the season would be pretty boring with just one team being promoted. But I do think it's a good idea. Better than the current set-up. It would also bring more teams into the pyramid. I would love it if Buriram were in the same division as Korat!

Vinnie, we actually facing the same problem, as of this season in Germany. Cause we got a new 3rd Pro League. Und this there is a new Regional League with 3 Divsions, and only the Number one, can get promotion to the 3rd League. So let's see over the years how it will work in Germany.

Group A results 3/8/51:

Sakhon Nakhon 0-2 Rajpracha
Chachoengsao 2-1 Satun
Ratchaburi 1-0 Chiang Mai
Prachinburi 2-2 Samut Prakan
KORAT 1-0 Songkhla  Grin Grin Grin

My first Korat game at the new stadium. A must win game for Korat against second placed Songkhla and they just about deserved it. Dominated the first half but Songkhla came back in the second. A thoroughly enjoyable game and excellent vocal support from the travelling Songkhla fans. Korat are now 2 points below third place and five below Songkhla in second but with a game in hand. Still in with a chance...

It was better than I thought it was going to be. The match feels like more of an event at the new stadium with police and lots of food vendors and banners advertising the match by the main road outside the complex. The attendance was about 450. Small in such a large stadium but higher than they were attracting at the old place and it was free admission there! Moving in the right direction, on and off the pitch.

Division 2A results, 10/8/51:

Rajpracha 1-1 Narathiwat
Chiang Mai 2-2 Sakhon Nakhon
Samut Prakan 0-0 Chachoengsao
Prachinburi 0-1 Ratchaburi
Satun 1-2 KORAT

Korat go third with a 92nd minute winner at Satun. Promotion rivals Narathiwat and Prachinburi both drop points, and with Songkhla not playing Korat are now 2 points off second and only four below leaders Prachinburi. Next week Prachinburi don't play and Narathiwat and Songkhla play each other. So if they draw, quite possible, and Korat win, then this time next week we'll be one point off top!

Only four matches to go. Two at home, two away. I should be at both home games, starting with Rajpracha this Sunday. There is also a chance that I'll be going to Ratchaburi on the last day of the season. There may be a supporters coach organised if demand is high enough and if there is something riding on the match; which in all likelihood there will be. The way it's going, both promotion places will be decided on the last day of the season. Fantasic stuff!  Smiley

Ever been to Ratchaburi SRS? I guess the stadium is in the Muang district?

Yes, I went last season to watch us beat the Police. The stadium (if it's the same one!!) is in the town and very easy to find.

91 Ratchaburi 1 - 1 Samut Prakarn
92 Cha Choeng Sao FC 1 - 0 Chiang Mai
93 Sakon Nakhon 2 - 6 Satun FC
94 Nakhon Ratchasima 1 - 2 Raj Pracha
95 Narathiwat 1 - 2 Songkhla

Not a good day at the office for Korat. We could have done with Narathiwat and Songkhla drawing aswell. After winning five games in a row we had to drop points sooner or later. Rajpracha's winner came in the 90th minute which is very disappointing but then again we've scored two 92nd minute winners in recent games so I guess that's karma! Songkhla go top by a point and must surely go up now. Korat are four points off second-placed Prachinburi with three to play. So promotion is now unlikely but not impossible. Prachinburi have been dropping points in recent weeks so it's not (quite) over yet. Warm congratulations go to Satun who climb off the bottom for the first time this season in some style by scoring six at Sakhon Nakhon who now drop into bottom place.

Yes, a disappointing result. It ruined my perfect football weekend - wins for Chonburi, Oldham, Burton Albion and SriRacha. Defeat for M*n C*ty and M*n U*d dropping two points at home!!

Hopefully you can win your final three games and start next seson in the 1st division.

Even if we win our three games, Prachinburi have a very simple looking run-in. Can't see it happening but you never know.

With Si Skaet's draw today, they have all but achieved promotion to the first division. With 2 games to go, they just have to make sure that Bkk Christian College drop points and don't score a handful.

Army Support and get promoted tomorrow if they beat the Air Force Training College.

Korat's promotion hopes are now just a mathematical possiblity. We've done well just to be in with a chance of promotion going into the penultimate weekend of the season given that we accumulated just 14 points in the first half of the season (10 games).

Congratulations to Prachinburi. Thoroughly deserved promotion, they've been top nearly all season. The battle for second place goes down to the wire and it's a straight fight between Songkhla and Narathiwat who are both locked on 36 points. Korat are now out of the promotion race after a terrible result and performance against no-hopers Chiang Mai. The Korat players seemed to lose their heart for the fight after the defeat to Rajpracha a couple of weeks ago but the fact is that had they won the subsequent two games they would now be second. So the defeat wasn't as crucial or as damaging as we thought at the the time. Oh well, there's always next season...

I'm not surprised Korat didn't win, the lads most have been a bit down from the previous weekend, so a draw was probably impressive to see that they picked themselves up.

I'm sure they can mount a challenge next season.

One thing i would like to see happen in this league is to make sure that everyone plays everyweek. Make each league have 12 teams. Surely it can't be good if you are on a good winning run and then suddenly it stops for a break and then pick yourself up again.

I think you're absolutely right. Although, in theory, it's the same for every team, those breaks can come at an unhelpful time. In the first half of the season Korat were on a three game winning streak in which they'd scored nine goals, had to miss out for a week because of the odd number of teams, and promptly lost their first match back after the break. I've noticed it with other teams, losing their way after an enforced break. It's not just the inactivity which is a problem but it could also be very dispiriting for a team if they're not playing and all the teams around them win.

Some photos of two recent Korat games:

http://forum.koratfc.net/index.php?topic=50.0   This was against Songkhla. The flag wavers were from Songkhla. I can just about be seen in the fourth photo down just to the right of the royal box.

http://forum.koratfc.net/index.php?topic=129.0  This was against Rajpracha. The photos were taken by a professional and there are some great shots of the stadium and its environs.

Do they decide it on head to head? Songkhla's goal-difference is one better than Narathiwat's. It's worth noting that Narathiwat conceded in the 92nd minute! They were just seconds from promotion!

I think it's head to head, or at least it is for the Premier League, but nothing will surprise me really.

Either way, Songkhla won and drew with Narathiwat and had better goal difference, so in my book they win, but then it's not my rules.

Not sure how many sides get relegated, i once heard 5, to create a new 3rd division and combine both divison 2 groups into one, but never heard anything after that.

Anybody know?

I just hope that Surat Thani stay in Division One so we can have a big match in the south next season.

Well, I hope they went up on goal difference. Head to head is an awful way of deciding promotion. As for relegation, I'm not sure. On the official Div 2 site, if you look at the full table, it has the top 3 highlighted in each of the Div 2 divisions. But that can't be right as four are definitely being relegated from Div1, so it must just be 2 from each. No relegation places are highlighted.

edit: The Korat website does have the bottom five in 2A highlighted.

Now we just waiting for some official statement.

But don't be surprised what happens and a new league created at the last minute and clubs not knowing where they are playing!

Thanks Loko. It was a link to photos on the old koratfc webboard. They've since started a new webboard and deleted the old one. I'm updating the website later today, I'll delete it then.

Samut Prakan have won the Pro League, the level below the 2nd Division, seems mid season they might have swapped their sides around , 1st and 2nd team and had Pro League as a priorty.

The winners of the Pro League would normally get promoted to the 2nd Division, but of course we can't have two teams representing the same club.

I believe my local side Krabi came 3rd, so hopefully they will go up, last year they lost out in the end of season play-offs to Kasem Bundit (I think!).

But maybe with S Prakan swapping sides, then maybe it just shows that they didn't really want to go up, they seemed in a strong position at one point and then dropped silly points to the divisions weakest sides.

Division 2 back up and running this weekend and next weekend with what would seem, the top two of each division facing each other

Songkhla host Si Saket with the return the week later and Prachinburi host Army Welfair Dept. I'm not sure if this is some sort of promotion compeition or just for overall classification
