I saw these matchday slots on the official website and wondered what they were for. Four teams are being relegated from Div 1 so it can't be a promotion play-off.

Maybe a kind of crowning the 2nd Div overall Champ. Or any kind of a Khor Cup maybe.

@ Dru, are you missing some results from the Div 2? Cause your crosstable in the wiki is missing some.

Yes, i'm missing results, but at the moment i haven't really been bothered to find out what they were.

I'm sure i have them written down somewhere. I think in Division One, come the end of the season, a few will be missing aswell as i seem to have missed midweek results on the odd occasion.

Anyone know any firm plans for the league next season?

From what i've been told from Magazone on here, the plans could be to merge Division 2 with the Pro League

Really? For Division 2? I was told by someone at Korat F.C last week, and I quote, "many things are not good at the moment. Don't expect to hear anything before January."

Well, whatever happens, it is all rather untidy as usual.

I first heard that a 3rd Division would be created, which would basically split the current 2 Groups in Division 2 into 2 seperate leagues, which made sense and kept the best with the best and the worse perfomers all with each other and promoted sides form Pro League into the 3rd Division which would give them a step onto the FAT Ladder (out of non-league so to speak).

Now i hear that Division 2 will  be combined with Pro League, which to me, says that a hell of a lot of clubs will be playing in Division 2, we would have something like 22 Division 2 clubs already and god knows how many Pro League clubs, which i might add is filled with reserve teams of some clubs anyway!

All FAT need to do is level out a playing field for Division 2, remove two groups which doesn't really show who is the best as both groups can be equally different.

So, have  a ladder of Premier League, Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and then regional, makes sense to me!

It amazes me how some clubs get such good backing, Khon Kaen for one, when they don't even know whats happening from year to year. The fans are being penalised for an incompetent FAT. About time we had someone as head of FAT! I'm sure they won't allow me being English but i find any Thai (my wife possibly) to sit their looking pretty and let us lot dictate from behind the scenes!

Ad, actually when I had a look at this report at FSW, it looks to me that everything is fixed for the new season. In total there are should be 3 pages in the mag about what happen next year.

Anyway, this is the first one with the pyramid. Later maybe I will or can pst the others which reporting in Thai.

Yes of course. As I do need them for the German Wiki as well. But let's wait until new Season in sight. Cause I am not sure for 2nd Div. promoted Teams, which realy want to go up, or might withdraw.

The latest news I have for next season is that Korat will be in 'Division 2 North-East'. That's literally as much as I know. The name of the division would suggest that Div 2 is going to become more regionalised which is excellent news and opens up the possibility for me to get a few away games under my belt!

I guess when he still Played in TOT FC, he has very Big Problem with Work Permit and Visa.

Something like this again?

Hi Chris. I don't know what the problem was with Osika. I guess it was a paperwork issue. It was a shame as he was a very good player for a division 2 side.

How long have we been advocating such a move!! It makes a lot of sense. Please keep us updated, Vinnie.

However, with all the new AFC requirements being enforced, Korat miay find themselves fast-tracked into the TPL as one of only 3 clubs who meet the criteria for a suitable stadium Wink

They probably got the idea after reading this board. We've been advocating this for ages!!

Now what else shall we propose? Wink

Vinnie, do you have the details for the other regions? Thanks.

I don't, no. Neither do I have details on promotion/relegation but if four are still being relegated from div 1, then it looks like it will just be the champions from each division going up.

"Now what else shall we propose?"
Two division 1's:  A & B. That way you could have two promoted from each Div 2 zone. And if you relegate four from the Prem, then you can still have two each going up from Div 1 A & B.
Watch this space... Wink

Wow, sounds nice and pretty tough. If I do look at the clubs you mentioned and the number of teams over all in Div2, it looks to me that the Pro League now is definately defunct.

Edit: And as Sakhon Nakhon will be in the Div 2 as well, it could mean that there will be not any relegated team!!! As we know that Sakhon Nakhon nromaly had been relagted!! So Chiang Mai and Cha Choeng Sao for example should stay in the league. Maybe as well as BKK Bravo :-) but I have heard something about BKK United is it true?

Can anyone read ths article? I can only read proper names in Thai at the moment. It shows a slightly different line-up to the one I've been given:

Yes I think so. And according to the clubs you provided I just draw my idea about where the borders might be between the groups. So everything above Chai Nat and Lopburi might belong to North and Phetchaburi might mark the border to the south, means anything else in the middle belonging to Central. At least this would makes sense to me.

Unfortunately for the board you link you given, Vinnie, my Browser is not showing the Thai types. No idea why.

From what I can understand of this article there was a meeting in Udon to make preparations for the new Isaan Division 2 league. The above teams are the ones that attended and applied to join the league. Five teams (Garasin, Chayapoom,  Yasothorn,  Nongbualampoo,  Amnajalern) did not attend, it is unclear if they will apply to join the league.
Other info in there is that the league intends to follow (higher) AFC standards, matches will start at either 5 or 6pm, tickets will not be more then 50 baht, they are expecting Pitya Santawong to help prepare the teams, Udon Thani will be the leagues headquaters.

Didn't Songkhla get promoted to Division One last year?

Although only 5 teams, at least they play in 'derbies' every week rather than making long journeys

Although i don't know monkeys about any team in your league Vinnie, i'm quite positive that it should be an exciting season, just think them long trips to Songkhla and Narathiwat are all a distant past now!

FAT starting to move in the correct direction, maybe thats because of elections this year for a President??

I don't know about the other leagues. I'm just keeping an eye on the Div 2 website for news.
Yes, the long trips are over. I'm already looking forward to away days at Surin, Buriram and Chaiyaphum!
Elections could be the reason for the changes in the league structure. I think there are two other reasons. The first is the blunt criticism delivered by the AFC last year when they criticised the state of the Thai league and stripped Thailand of an automatic Champions league place. That action by the AFC blew a lot of complacency away and I'm glad they did it.
I also think that, indirectly, Chonburi are a factor. It has been their rise over the past few seasons that has really breathed new life into the Premier League and has shown that club sides representing a place rather than a business or government institution are the best way to gain supporters and therefore generate interest and therefore generate money. Look at the way that PEA are currently trying to shed that name and establish themselves as a side which represents Ayuttaya. We've been saying it for years on here and other forums that provincial sides are the way forward and it's finally happening.

I agree, Vinnie. The AFC has given FAT a much needed kick up the backside. Let's hope that they're not just paying lip service and that this really is the start of a more professional approach.

Just read some news- Mukdohan is going to use a stadium in Suvanaket, Laos.
The program for next season will be released on 11th of Feb, first round will be on 15th of March.
Any news from Northern or Central zones?

So what can we infer from that? I guess Mukdahan didn't have a stadium that complied with regulations but solved the problem with a bit of cross border cooperation. The Second Thai Friendship Bridge connects Muang Mukdahan with Suvanaket so teams won't have a problem getting there. Interesting stuff.

Anyone found the fixtures yet? I'm monitoring Thailandsusu. The Division 2 website seems to be moribund.

It seems like the right time to start a new thread with the fixture lists imminent.
Also, here are a few div 2 related websites:
www.chaiyaphumfc.com  (seems the Issan division newcomers only formed last year)
www.chiangmaifc.com  (forum only)
www.chiangraiunited.com  (essentially just a forum. They played a friendly on the 5th and won 2-1)
www.samutprakarnfc.com
www.roietfc.com (brand new)
www.koratfc.net
