Twelve teams will consist of the 1st, 2nd and the best two team of the 3rd place of each league.

2nd of the Southern region
2nd of Northeastern region
2nd of Bangkok Metropolitan region
The best of the 3rd place
Total 6 teams

The 2nd group will be:
2nd of the Northern region
2nd of the Central and Eastern region
1st of the Southern region

1st of Bangkok Metropolitan region
The second best of the 3rd place

Bit worried about Ayutthaya chances after the 0-1 loss to Prathumthani last weekend. They dominated but couldn't score.
Samut Prakhan next, need to be within a few points of Saraburi in the final round for it to come down to that match to be 3rd.... then again we could still win the league!

Actually, have just looked at the full tables, and I reckon Chiang Mai and Chai Nat are in, as they can't be caught by the 3rd placed teams in the other 2 leagues. However, final placings are still yet to be determined.

about a third of what they were with PEA. Much better to have a real club now though. I just moved back to Ayutthaya so getting to know the club better now. Samut Prakhan match big one next.

I thought these kind of conditions were a thing of the past. This is Korat at Nong Bua Lamphu. The place is reminiscent of the old Bang Phra ground with no barriers separating the pitch from spectators and no permanent stands. At least there is some grass, or what looks like grass, there! Nong Bua Lamphu usually looks completely barren. Perhaps they're growing a pitch to cut and store for next season!

Hardly the most important thing, I know, but I had to laugh at the 'futuristic' (pun intended  ) scoreboard. Technology has really come a long way.

I loved the way the piece of paper with Korat is stuck on with a bit of tape and what appears to be a glob of white tack or chewing gum or something.

The big story from the Chai Nat v Phichit match is that the ref had his nose broken during a brawl. Shocking stuff.

Just read the report on TLO. Obviously Chai Nat weren't happy going down by a penalty, (I think it says they had a penalty appeal turned down later as well) and 2 red cards (+1 for Phichit). I think one of the players returned to the pitch after the final whistle and hit the ref. Security was needed to escort both the officials and the away team off and out of the stadium.

Yet another blot on Thailand football's reputation. I hope the RL/FAT come down hard on the culprits. Back home, it would probably result in a lifetime ban, but I won't hold my breath here.

I've not seen that incident but I think the RBAC player actually sparked the ref out and he had to go to hospital.

There was an incident a few years ago when a ref was beaten up by an entire team and staff. It made the headlines and the club was disbanded. I can't remember which club it was but I have a feeling it was somewhere near Ayutthya.

Feel slightly sorry for Satun as they came runners up on GD last season when only one progressed, would be good to see them test themselves in the playoffs and see how far they have come since 2008 when they came 10th in the old 2nd division.

Bigger question is, what makeup will the Southern league have next year? Looks like Narathiwat are coming back, but Phuket seem to have enough to go into DIV1, can Trang, Satun or Surat get in there?

I think the wheels fell off for Korat a few weeks ago.

Yasothon (4th) are going to struggle to make up the necessary points on Central/East to claim that spot; Their run-in is 5th placed Korat (H), 3rd placed Roi Et (A), and 2nd placed Buriram (H)

As well as Yasothon mid-week, Korat face Loei on the final day.

Roi Et might have a shot. Apart from the game against Yasothon, they've got Mukdahan and Nakhon Phanom, both of whom are in the bottom half of the table.

I do hope SP make the cut and this time go up. I'd hate to see them or any other CE team not go into Div1. If this was the case, there'd be calls for CE being the weakest link in the pyramid.

A proud moment (or at least for me) was the apperance of my brother-in-law for The Andaman Eagles (Krabi F.C.) at the weekend. At only 16 years of age, he was pulled away from his older brothers pop concert to sit on the bench, to make his debut with minutes remaining.

Asked if I could have his shirt, he proclaimed to say no, as the kit was needed for next seson.

yes it's looking pretty bleak for Ayutthaya at the moment. I couldn't get to the match last week but I hear the official reason for 4-0 loss was the ref.
It all comes down to this match against Samut Prakhan, if Ayutthaya win there is still hope, a draw sinks any chances.

My girlfriend is an ex Kasetsart student so I'm going to treat her to an evening of Thai second division football.  At least she'll have a team to cheer for. That is of course provided they stay on the pitch for the full 90 mins.
