Just found out that 6 or 7 players in b****** f.c's starting eleven are 'on loan' from PEA. Most of them were members of the 2008 championship winning squad.
Just when you think that they can't get any more loathsome...

But surely these championship winning players were just squad players or at most barely featured in the playing 11?

nigb will know better than me how many times they played for PEA in 2008.
I'm not saying there's anything untoward in what they're doing but it's clearly a massive unfair advantage.
It would be like Roman Abramovich buying another team in West London - let's say, Brentford - and then loaning them most of Chelsea's reserves so as to get them into the Premier League asap. All above board, but Brentford would instantly become the most hated team in the Football League. Basically that's the situation in b*****m.

Or the Glazers buying Oldham. Wink

We also have about 4 players from Thai Port playing at Trang. So every club can be at it. It's all about forming club links, which isn't a problem.

Obviously the two Burirams stand out. Can't help but feel that once Buriram move up the levels, what will Newin do then? Sell off PEA?

I'm not 100% sure about the status of the guys at Trang. I thought they were on-loan, but i'm not so sure anymore. I think at least 2 of them are permanent transfers.

Links are nice for those D2 clubs that have them; Phuket seem to be benefiting from their link with Muang Thong. But what happens when these clubs end up in the same division?
Unless Newin gets bored/imprisoned/assassinated (delete as appropriate) then Buriram will get to the TPL sooner rather than later. If Buriram F.C were involved in a TPL relegation battle and they played mid-table PEA late in the season, we all know what the result would be.

It could happen this season. There are formal links between Srisaket and Tero. Tero mid-table, Srisaket in a relegation fight...

You can add Chonburi/SriRacha/Bang Phra to that list. It's not something that I'm in favour of.

havn't seen the squad for buriram, but wouldn't surprise me. I only started following PEA Ayutthaya a few weeks before the end of the 2008 season so dont know the regulars well that year. Only familiar with Buriram fc by reputation too. Will look for their squad now. There are a few players I havent seen play for PEA for a while, Yutijak to think of one. the system of Buriram is bit of a lurking monster.

And Vinnie... nice knowing you, you'll get done with Les majastes now... and no one ask that taboo word "why"

yeah, he jumped ship... back to the USA.

Cheers to Sra Kaeow today, last minute equalizer against Saraburi reels them back in.... Ayutthaya v Muangkan big one. I went to Ayutthaya v Ratchaburi last week, the team are looking sharp, the management are focused on promotion but it is very crowded at the top of the central region.

Less than a month after I sent that open letter to Mister Vichit, he announces plans for a L2 cup competition to start next month.
Coincidence? :-)

EDIT: It seems it may be all league teams involved. How did we miss this?

But it's strange. Cause I thought Vichit is responsible only for TPL. And the L2 is under the umbrella of the FAT. Nevertheless, I hope that the L2 Clubs are still able to enter the FA Cup. Otherwise it would become boring. With the play offs the L2 is really having a long season already. And than suddenly to play a L2 Cup?

Btw did somebody noticed the recent runs from Thai Honda, PTT and Chula? Some of you any reasonable explanation?

Yep I noticed this. Chula maybe not so surprising, they had games in hand so have shot up the table. I think they came back down to earth at the weekend mind.

Thai Honda, i cringe at slightly, they are doing very well and might just end up in the TPL, but the TPL has moved on now, I don't think the TPL should be carrying such teams as Honda.

PTT, big movers in recent weeks. Must be some reason for it. They haven't just started winning, but winning very well. Almost like they have a new backbone to the squad.

How can Vichit say all 64 teams (taken from your blog Greg) will take part when there is 74 in the RL leagues alone?

What use is the League Cup when they can't organise an FA Cup for everyone.

And just like your Loko, Vichit is chairman or whatever of the TPL brand, thats level 1 and 2, he has no concern for RL level, so as usual, I don't understand what is going on or where these people get there numbers from.

I think they will copy the UK league cup and organise some qualifying rounds.

I'm happy they are doing this - they are giving financial support and the opportunity for smaller teams to play big teams. I'm sure they can still enter the FA Cup.

@ Dru, by chance, I have found out that Vichit now is also Senior Executive Vicepräsident of the FAT. By saying TPL, I meant the brand, or TPL and TPL 1, of course.

anyone watching the progress of specific Div 2 clubs? Besides Ayutthaya I follow Chiang Mai and FC Phuket, they are topping their region. If these two clubs get promoted this could be a major boost to the league. The other ones I'm looking at are Korat and Bangkok Christian... all have things to offer the higher leagues. If only 4 going up I'll take those first 4 and leave BCC, but I'm sure this is not going to happen, Buriram are just about a shoe in.

I'm watching the 3rd place spots in the North and C & E divisions. Looks like one of the 'bonus' play-off places will definitely go the North division, and the 3rd place side in the C & E div is just ahead of the Northeast div. I'm hoping for a draw in the Rayong v Ayutthaya game this weekend.

I'm following the Southern League. Looks like Phuket might just have enough in them to get to the playoffs. My number one side Krabi have shot up the league in recent weeks.

Generally most leagues do seem wide open with 3 or 4 teams looking to secure playoff spots in all regions.

In other leagues, i generally prefer the Bangkok league and have a soft spot for Bangkok (old Bravo), BCC and Bangkok North Central.

Bit of general div 2 news and very bad news for us. Mukdahan are set to be docked three points and Yasothon awarded three points as Mukdahan fielded an ineligible player earlier in the season when they beat Yasothon 2-1.
Looks like the footballing gods are conspiring to keep us out of Div 1 again.  Cry

You should appeal. The penalty for that particular crime is a touchline ban for the coach. A precedent was set last season.

Fortunately (although not for us on this particular occasion) the Regional League has got its disciplinary house in order. Earlier in the season a team from the Southern division - I forget which - were deducted points for fielding an ineligible player. And at the halfway stage of the season a disciplinary meeting was held in which every reported incident was investigated (referee assaults, missile throwing etc) and punisments duly handed out to all of the offending clubs.

It sounds like they've got their act together. Which is more than can be said about the people who run the TPL. Why on earth would you want to leave such a well run league? Wink

It's a good question. I certainly wouldn't want to leave it just for the sake of playing in Division 1. If we go we've got to go all the way.

Which reminds me, I won't be able to get a match report on the site till Wednesday because of the holiday. My memory is terrible and by the sounds of things I won't be allowed to take a notebook and pen into the stadium! Don't hold your breath for a stunning match report!

I'd like to be behind Korat this weekend, but someones paying me big bucks to look elsewhere.

Ha! You're in his pocket too! Is no-one safe?! Wink

Incidentally Vinnie is not the only chap to attend a L2 fixture this weekend. It's Nonthaburi V Bangkok Christian College tomorrow.A few weeks back it would have been first against second. Now it's forth against third.

Nonthaburi 1 BCC 0
Nont move up to third place.

However the most interesting thing about this event was not the game itself. Details to follow :-)

Was it the BCC players singing the school song in front of their fans after the game? They did that after the cup game against Korat United. Strangest thing I've seen in Thai football.

Chula always used to do this after every match. I believe that one or two other clubs now have variations on it.
