from http://www.thaileaguefootball.com/

Samut Prakan and Bangkok Bravo will share the Bang Mod Stadium in 2010. Both clubs play in Division 2, but in separate regions.

Whats all this about? Two teams, 1 ground, different regional leagues!!

I think they are just about the same distance from the ground tough. BB a little closer maybe.

All the fixtures are now on the FAT site but only as downloadable pdf files. Our useless computers can't download the file for some reason. If anyone could email me the northeast fixtures I'd be very grateful. Smiley

Thanks for that! Smiley The regular season finishes on 19th September so the mini-league will probably drag on into December. For some reason our home games flit between Saturdays and Sundays. I don't understand why we do this.
Last game of the season: at home to Loei!

Thanks Vinnie, I've got the fixtures. Second question is - where the heck will Nonthaburi play their home games?

David Lebras officially became a Korat player today. He signed for the club this morning. All we need now are a couple of decent strikers, some wingers, centre backs and a quality keeper and we'll be fine!

I like Yasothon's crest (click on link and then click on image to expand - yet another 'United'). I still can't believe we abandoned our original crest for what we've got now.

Thanks Nigb, mission two is now accomplished. My final mission is to find out where the
heck the "Youth Center Chalermprakiat " is :-)

So further investigations have revealed that the aforementioned pitch is in.....Bang mod, Bangkok.

Seriously, how can the FA allow a newly registered team to play miles away from the place they claim to represent?

OK perhaps they had trouble finding a home and this is a temporary fix but still you would think they should get this sorted in advance, they had more than enough time.

I'll give "Nonthaburi FC" no more thought until they move into Nonthaburi.

Wouldn't it have been far easier to have called themselves Bang Mod?

I've never heard of the place or been to the place, but i'm sure someone must live there to start a following.

How many people from Nonthaburi are actually going to watch a new team in a different location to their namesakes.

I can only assume a group of people from Nonthaburi wanted to create a football team, but couldn't find a ground in Nonthaburi. But the way we are going, we will have teams named after provinces but all playing in Bangkok.

Currently we have Thai Air Look Issan who play in Bangkok but are for the People of the Issan region. One day we might have a Narathiwat who play in Bangkok but represent the southern province.

I think FAT need clear rules that new clubs must be assigned to a province and play in that province. If it can't be done, then they shouldn't be allowed to enter

I read an article concerning their founder a while back, he is the typical high-so son of a phuu-yai. He comes from Nonthaburi  he said  at that time they were still looking for a home ground and they were considering using the pitch of a local university (wonder what happened to that?). He also promised Nonthaburi FC would not enter the league without a lot of financial investment.
He still needs to live up to those promises.

"How many people from Nonthaburi are actually going to watch a new team in a different location to their namesakes."

Especially when we already have two local teams, both highly successful.

Well, it even doenst make less sense as Bravo and Prakarn are playing at Bang Mod this season. And for Nonthaburi it means, across Bangkok from the North down to the south. I am not sure, but I guess Bang Mod is more close to Samut Prakharn than Nonthaburi.

Are you sure about that Loko? It's certainly not true for teachers!

That's a fortune for a third division player; most earn less than 10,000.

Yes that's true. I guess otherwise we would have some rich people here on the board.  Tongue
Which nevertheless, leves up with the question, and not only this time, how players can get a WP. Cause I think that not all foreign players are able to work as teacher.  Cool

It doesn't sound like Nonthaburi F.C have got much of a future. I've said before that Regional League sides need to be means tested to ensure their financial viability. But as only one person is putting the money in, all it needs is for him to get bored/decide it's not worth it (which he will do if the team don't have a successful season) and that will be the end of Nonthaburi F.C.
We can not have clubs solely relying on the finances of one person for their survival.

I've got a lot of time for Bravo but if they're going to stay at the 72nd Anniversary stadium then maybe a name change to 'Minburi F.C' or 'Bravo Minburi' may help their future prospects.

I've always had a soft spot for Bravo. It was my first away match - they played at the Thai-Japanese Stadium then - and their fans used to come and support Chonburi on our frequent trips to BKK during the 2006 season. They also used to enter a team in our fan club Futsal tournament.

I hope they keep the name and find a permanent home. Good luck to them. Smiley

I'm trying to kick-start the 'Club Forum' on my site. I've contacted the farang Korat fans I know and publicized it on various Korat forums in an attempt to create a community of English-speaking Korat fans. So if any happen to be reading this, please join the forum at http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/koratfc/clubforum/forum.pl

Does anyone know anything about this Regional League tournament going on at the moment? I saw Phichit beat Uthaithani 4-0 on TV last night. It was part of some pre-seson competition involving quite a few northern clubs.
Incidentally, Phichit looked very impressive just as they did last season. Too bad a TPL team have muscled in on their territory.

Bangkok Bravo:

Their new website has the proud honour of being the only site I know that instantly crashes and kills any of my Mozilla based browsers. In Opera, it ran fine but is needlessly loaded with java and other applets, making it very slow.

just back from Ayutthaya v Samut Prakan. Tough result consudering Ayutthaya has about 70% of the ball. Still I don't think they tested the goal keeper once, just got a penalty.
Good to see the season under way.

It's a pity these two teams had to play each other on day 1. I'm sure both would have been a bit rusty, probably would have been better to see them go head to head on matchday 7 or 8 once they have settled down a bit?
