Regional early rounds makes perfect sense. Which is probably why it doesn't happen. However, I'm sure you're looking forward to your trip to Phuket.

I am, but I can understand why clubs don't enter. I'm sure Nakhon Phanom, for example, wouldn't fancy a 2000-mile, midweek round-trip to Satun, and vice-versa. Back to Phuket. It now looks like the club will lay on transport for the match. Quite amazing really. We barely had an away support a year ago and now we're likely to take several dozen to the south of Thailand midweek.

I might have to give it a miss this year. A motorbike trip to Nong Jork is just about doable but Phuket is stretching it a bit.

Pattaya City, who should have been playing vs Wat Sutthiwararam Alumni tomorrow / today, is if Iam right, a casual league team. Actually they are playing in the MBMG International Bangkok League. And they are actual leading the table.

Back in 1998 I was part of the first team from outside BKK to play in the Casuals League. We were called Havana Pattaya FC and we finished runners up in our first full season. Two or three years later a second team from the area, Eastern Seaboard FC, also joined the league. The following season the two clubs merged and Pattaya City were formed. I stopped playing a long time ago but this is the team that are in this year's FA Cup.

Is this a mistake, or have I missed something? http://fcphuket.blogspot.com/2010/04/fc-phuket-5-0-korat.htmlTuesday, April 6, 2010 FC Phuket 5-0 Korat FC Phuket comfortably saw of the challenge of Nakhon Ratchasima to progress to the next round of the Thai FA Cup. The Division Two (Northern Section) side made the long journey down from Korat to face Arjhan Songgamsub's team at what is fast becoming referred to as 'Fortress Surakul'.

Don't know how he's managed that but 5-0 was Phuket's score from the weekend. The report is the original one from last week.

I am not sure, but if my understanding is right, b'cause lack of money and concentrate on relegation battle. Nevertheless, they will have to report to FAT because of this.

Dear sirs,
I write to you as an ex-patriot living in Thailand and a keen follower of Thai football. I was especially pleased to go along to my first Thai FA Cup match this season and I hope to see many more.
I was disappointed that many lower league teams, including my own local team of Nonthaburi FC, did not enter the competition. Apparently, many lower league teams find it hard and expensive to travel to FA Cup games and find the games are scheduled for difficult times.
I understand the Thai FA Cup is based around the English version, however in England, lower league teams are given financial and other assistance when organising cup matches home or away against other teams. This is seen by the FA and fans as a way of providing excitement to fans and increasing support for smaller teams. It also provides the famous 'FA Cup magic' when smaller teams take on bigger clubs and this is what the competition is known for.
I would encourage the Thai FA to take similar steps to ensure the FA Cup receives more lower league entrants.
Thank you and please keep up the good work!
Kind regards, Greg Nonthaburi
