I think your antipathy towards Pattaya outweighs mine! I'm just happy to be able to watch a match without worrying about points or performances or what Loei are doing. Also, our 'honours cabinet' is rather bare, but in my book 'FA Cup Quarter-Finalists' counts as an honour. So that's my main reason for wanting us to go through: our first honour!  |

Another round, another giant-killing! For the third consecutive round we've knocked out opponents from a higher division. It was also the third time we've won on penalties in this competition, and in all the fifth round we've played (preliminary, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th). We put in a good performance - Pattaya were the better side but then that was to be expected. The Dolphins certainly forgot their shooting boots, though. It's no surprise they've scored so few this season. A brief summary for those that didn't/couldn't watch it. Korat took the lead in the 23rd minute as Pratheep Supapong tapped in from a low cross that some how evaded the Pattata defence. Pattaya had the bulk of first-half possession but not that many clear-cut chances. 1-0 at HT. Pattaya equalised within twenty seconds of the restart as our defender Alain Njoya very courteously stepped away from the guy he was marking and allowed him to head home unchallenged. We played better in the second half than we did in the first, but it was Pattaya who were creating the better chances. That said, Korat came within a whisker of wrapping it up in normal time as a Promphong Kransamrung effort came back off the post in the last minute of injury-time. 1-1 FT Extra-time wasn't too eventful but Pattaya looked the likeliest, and so onto penalties. Korat defeated Chainat 6-5 in a shoot-out in the preliminary round and Customs suffered a 4-2 shoot-out defeat in the last round, so Korat went in to the eliminator with no fear and it showed as they edged it 4-3 - Pattaya's final miss, as stated in previous posts, hit both uprights! Heart breaking, eh? Attendance was maybe 2500-3000 (50-60 from Pattaya). Excellent considering the draw was only made on Friday afternoon. I think we could have got 5000+ if the club had had more time to promote the match. Still, considering we had an attendance of 258 as recently as May one can't complain too much. In conclusion, Pattaya undoubtedly deserved to lose this match. Not because they couldn't beat a Division 2 side in 120 minutes of football; not because their finishing was awful; and not because they missed two penalties. But because their fans do a ridiculous Dolphin dance when they celebrate! They put both arms above their heads, as one does if one is about to dive into a swimming pool, and move them from side to side. It is the most excruciating, toe-curling thing I've ever seen and is more than reason enough to merit defeat! |

People on the Korat FC forum are saying they want Ayutthaya to get through, and then for us to be drawn with them so as to give us the best chance of progressing. I don't think that way though - I'm just happy to be in the draw! |

I see Thai Port, Osotspa or BEC Tero winning the FA cup as for these teams it's probaby their no.1 priority. I wouldn't be surprised if PEA won it and get relegated too. I don't see Chonburi putting out a strong squad against Osot.

This according to the German Wikipedia relevant criteria, would allows me to create an article about the Magna Team. CFC is winning the AFC Cup and the FA Cup, who than will enter the AFC Cup next year? The runners up of the FA cup? Or the second placed team in the TPL? And if so, and CFC will be 2nd, who than will enter the AFC Cup next year? What about MTUD wins the TPL, CFC wins the AFC Cup, and both are be in the final of the FA Cup? Who than will enter the AFC Cup? In any case fot thai football wouldn't it be the best if a 3rd club would be able to enter the AFC cup next year? For example, CFC wins the AFC Cup and is directly qualified for the AFC CL. MTUD will be TPL champions and would be able to to play AFC CL qualifier, and I would have no doubt they could manage it to the group stage, and Vinnies Korat is wining the FA Cup and would be eligable to play in the AFC Cup directly. Vinnie than would might be able to see the nice beach and palms of the meledivs? Ok, Marcos Thai Port could do as well. But would be a long trip for him. Did the FAT already think about that? |

Yes, it was June on the AFC Website. BANGKOK – The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has confirmed that the FA Cup will return to the domestic calendar this month with the winner’s getting to represent the Kingdom in the 2010 AFC Cup.
The tournament, which was last played in 2001 when the Royal Thai Air Force took top honours, had been scheduled for last year but was cancelled to allow Thailand coach Peter Reid the chance call up players for national team training.
The first round will see 32 teams from the Second Division and provincial leagues compete on June 27 and 28 and July 4 and 5 with the winners advancing to round two where 16 First Division sides await.
The second round takes place from July 11 to 19 after which the Thailand Premier League teams enter the fray in round three.
Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium has been earmarked as the venue for the final which has been scheduled for October 21.

The third and fourth round ties were each spread over an entire month but all the QFs are being played on the same midweek afternoon within a few days of the draw being made. |

You have to wonder why Rounds 3&4 were spread over the last 2 months, but the Quarters, Semi's & Final will be crammed into an already hectic 3 week period : . I wondered about that and then struck upon an answer: because it's being organised by the FAT!! |

So Bangkok Glass and Osotspa complete the quarter-final line-up. A more or less successful debut for Osotspa in Saraburi. They won and a good crowd turned up. On the downside, the floodlights went off for quite a while and it looked like the match might have to be abandoned.
Looking very tricky for Korat from here on in. Five of the TPL top seven are in the draw. I guess we're hoping for Surat Thani for our best chance of getting through, though I bet they're thinking the same thing about us! I think we'd also give Bangkok Utd a good game on home soil.
