News from one of my friends:

Have you heard the news about the disbanding of Bangkok Bank? It was the big news of Thai football now after they can't stand in the TPL in this season.

Due to in the next season of the TPL, FAT need to specify quality of the team in TPL for conform to AFC regulation so they command that every team in TPL 2009 seasons must...

1. The team in TPL 2009 must notarize to the company limited. That was the some reason for the disbanding of Bangkok Bank FC.
2. Head coach of the team in TPL 2009 must have the A-License from AFC.
3. All stadium in TPL 2009 must pass the expectation which should have the newsroom, the special seats for the newsman, enough light and the strong security.
4. Each team in TPL 2009 must have the youth team.

If any team can't perform to above mentioned. They maybe also relegate to the division 1 league immediately. all thing for the progress of Thai football league.

If this is true then it's a big step in the right direction but teams should be given a season to put their houses in order, not relegated with immediate effect.
BEC, among others, need to find a new stadium asap if the above is true.

My wife tells me that she saw on the Siam Sport website that Bangkok Bank FC has been taken over by Thai Glass.

I think that this is the Krung Thai Bank/Bangkok Glass story. I've just had a quick look on Siamsport and this was the only takeover story I could find, with the picture you've posted accompanying it.

So this is a different story than the Pattaya Utd ones? Means this is really a take over and the "new" club keeps the records of krung thai?

I still want to know more about the notion that Pattaya Utd buying their way into the top league.

When(did they start to form the team)?
How(they did it)?
Why(this is allowed)?
Who(has the say)?

Don't(they have specific clauses in the By-Law controling the entry qualification)?

There so many leagues and teams that I have tried to stay away from learning but now I really want to have a clear picture of Football Operation in Thailand

Thanks to well wisher(s) who will step up to fill me in

Cheers!

Well, from my understanding, Bangkok Glass have done the same thing.

As far as i know, Bangkok Glass were playign football last year, because they played The Philippines national football team in a friendly before they played in AFC Challenge Cup.

So Bangkok Glass have done the same as Pattaya Utd, although Glass have been around longer, how long i don't know.

I think KTB and Bangkok Bank have jumped ship because of new rules in the league, which basically mean everyone has to become professional in every sense. They have to have qualified coaches and also have financial accounts. Maybe financial accounts, the likes of BKK Bank and KTB are just not prepared to show us - would you if you was a business?

I think although maybe in football terms it's not quite right to see clubs bought and replaced, especially when brought up on good old fashioned football like i am, but i can see this as a good move for the future.

It's  just a pity that nobody seems to be explaining themselves and there actions.

It’s a farcical situation. If KTB have had to drop out for those reasons then surely they should be replaced by the team who finished outside the promotion places in last seasons First Division.  This would also create an opportunity for a new club to enter at the bottom of the pyramid. Clubs shouldn’t be allowed to buy themselves a place in the top division.

In Pattaya United’s case, I stand by my original stance. I think that it’s a good thing for Pattaya (or any other major city) to have a professional football team but they should have come in at the bottom rung and earned the right to play in the top division. And not been allowed to buy another club, erase its history, get rid of most of its staff and relocate 25 miles down the road. It makes a complete mockery of the competition. They don’t even have a proper ground. Korat have a much stronger case for sneaking in through the back door if this is how FAT wants to ‘promote’ teams into the TPL!!

I posted on another thread that Chonburi haven’t always been a big club. We’ve evolved from a pretty poor Pro League club, playing in front off a few dozen fans, into “the model all Thai clubs should follow”, with average home crowds of 3,500 – 4,000. Isn’t that they way it’s supposed to work?
