Chanthaburi got a new Management. Unveiled a new logo, and may have about 30 Mio Baht for investment into new players.

Yeah, regulations brought out last year enforced clubs to become limited companies, the reason why the banks withdrew.

It would be interesting to see which teams havn't played by the rules yet. We have had a fair few name changes this season, just wonder if the likes of the Army have a change in the pipeline?

If they change, I bet on Royal Army United. Smiley

I personally think that all TPL clubs had apllied to the new rules of fouding a LTD.
But I am not sure how far this needs to be valid for 2nd Div.

Hell, i'm now hearing that Rattana Bundit have joined up with Chiang Mai!!! What league will they play in??

I'm also hearing Customs Department are possibly moving to Phetchaburi!

Dru, could it be possible that maybe someone mixed up the things in the en wiki? Cause to me it looks like RBAC merged with the former Chiang Mai United, and Chiang Mai FC is a totally new club baked by the government.

thats what i think has happened, a merger of two clubs and a new club formed this year.

either way its still two clubs that play  in the same leagues as last year, will we ever know the real reason, probably not

With  regards to wiki, i try no to do club articles now as information never seems to be 100 percent correct, so i just leave it to the native thai lads to battle it out

First leg Fixtures -
 http://www.thaileaguefootball.com/index.php?lay=show&ac=article&Id=76879

First Round on 7th March.

Looks like Rattanabundit are not going to Chiang Mai after all and Rajpracha will share the Thunderdome.

SriRacha United use the ground, which is by the entrance to Koh Loy, for their home games in the Chonburi League. So far, it has a state of the art artificial pitch and very little else. Two "stands" of wooden planks on scaffolding on one side can accomodate about 50 people between them and there are similar structures behind one of the goals. There is a pile of rubble where the old concrete stand used to be.

The best views, and best seating, are to be found in the flats which overlook the pitch or from the first floor of the kindergarten, which is where I usually sit - but I know the person who has the keys. Wink

Confusion reigns again.

The new thailandpremierleague.com website appears to show the Raj playing their first game on the 13th, not the 6th.

Have the D1 fixtures been changed? If so, why?

Confusion takes it to a whole new level:

The FA fixture list says all games will start at 1600. However, Air Force United, over at their simple and effective web site ( http://www.airforceunited.com/ ) says their game will KO at 1830.

How many other teams have announced different KO times that the FA have ignored?

The kick-off times on the FAT website were rarely accurate. I would always check on club websites or with someone at the club, if possible.

Looks like the move to Chiang Mai failed at the end of last year. RBAC is now looking for a sponsor and may change the name, in favour to him.

Come on Songkhla and Naratiwat for the season!! Would love to see both teams do well in the top half, but just avoid promotion.

I don't think promotion would be a good thing for Southern teams until someone comes up with some kind of 5-10 year off field plan.

Also, sticking around in Division One and being joined by another Southern team would I think be more benefical to the league system in general

They  did unveil a new club logo for cd phetchaburi but i guess the move feel through.

I do think some clubs need to start calming down, they seem to announce things that never seem to happen or documents aren't fully signed.

Its an embarresment to the clubs that are run well. The likes of customs will if not already be a laughing stock to the league

That could be possible, and should be so. Because of their new sponsor. A few weeks ago they informed that they are in negotians with a potential sponsor, and even would be ready to change their club name. And Mittraphap is Bangkok based company.

Yes, I spoke with their webmaster a while ago to compliment him on the team web site. I hope to go to Sunday's game but I'm out on Friday night and at the MTU game on Saturday so I may have to do some bargaining with the wife :-)

Good game and despite the two red cards, nowhere near as dirty as yesterday.
Good atmosphere, too. Gutted to lose to nine men, of course.

EDIT: Apparently it does say games are expected to go ahead, bar any very near the rally site.

Raj 1 CRU 1

Much improved performance as the score suggests, but I'll blog about that later.

I want to discuss something with wider relevance:

CRU scored after 15-20 minutes and began the stretcher antics straightaway. Midway in the second half there was an innocuous shirt tug by a Raj player and the CRU player went down, got up, decided he had injured himself and went down again. On came the stretcher for the EIGHTH time.

Said CRU player got up and then decided to limp to the touchline. This was the final straw for Raj fans and players and they kicked up a fuss. The limping CRU player appeared to mouth something to the Raj fans (I didn't hear or read it) and upset them.

Then the ref decided to employ common sense and booked the CRU player. A minute later they tried another time wasting antic and got booked again. Then they stopped time wasting.

It gets better though: Raj were plying on the pressure towards the end and the CRU number 8 decided to give it one last try and decided to go down in his own box like he'd been shot. The ref ran over and booked him just as the stretcher team were about to run on for the ninth time. Number 8 was so embarrassed by his loss of face that he jumped up and started yelling and waving his arms around as he stormed off to the touchline. We all had a good laugh.

So my point is this: when refs simply decide to stop tolerating time wasting, the team stop doing it. When players act like stupid little children, it's easy to show them up for what they are by booking them.

So why, oh why, doesn't every ref behave like this? And why do even the good refs wait so long before clamping down? I can think of two teams I've seen visit the Thunderdome this season (Coke anyone? Or how about a journey on an HMS vessel?) that have been allowed to cheat their way through an entire game because the ref was too gutless to stand up to it. It doesn't take any technical or complex solution to stop this nonsense, it simply takes common sense and a little bit of backbone.

We had a ref who just told players to get up every time they went down but he only did it for the first half. Bizarre performance. SRS was there to see it, too. I wrote about it here (reply #205)

Are there any first division games this weekend? As there are no Premier league games, I'd wouldn't mind going to watch a 1st division game in the Bangkok area.

Also does anybody have a link for 1st div fixtures (Thai or English) between now and the end of the season?

Cheers
