...and signed one more striker. Sylvain Idangar. ...and probably two more??? one is the New Zealand lad we already talked about???

Sylvain Idangar is due his first training session today. I might go and check it out if I have time.
Maybe I'm being to negative and thinking about Goetken, but I'm not convinced about this transfer. Just got a bad feeling. Hopefully I'm wrong because it's not on a whim, we have been in negotiations since mid way last season (the Frenchman, I mentioned back then), so we obviously should know a lot about him.

Again though, like Jo, 'IF' it works, then he could potentially be one of the best players in the TPL.

Bunny, there's no "if" when Jo's in town.  His feet are magic, so quick; he drew probably half a dozen penalties last year and took them as well on his way to scoring 24 goals.  Good things happen when he's on the ball, he just scores goals!  Huge loss for us and he could be the difference for you guys next year(hope not).

Hey Strunky,

Welcome....
Yeah, I know there's no doubting Jo's quality, he has proven it time and time again and I'm excited with the signing. Why I'm holding back a bit is because it's whether or not he fits into the team. We play a very different style to you guys and the Thai national team. We had Ney, who was always a good goalscorer, but was terrible for us.

I really do hope it works out for us and for him, he seems a great guy too.... I'm just not counting my chickens just yet.

But you're right, he could be the missing ingredient. We've desperately needed someone who considerably score for 2 seasons now.

Thanks Bunny,

You've got a good point about the team styles being different and this other new guy you've got seems to be a good signing.   Sorayuut can be very exciting and frustrating at the same.  For long stetches during games last season he did absolutely nothing and then he'd put in the winner.

Not to bring up a sour topic but is there any news on the two remaining games Port and Glass have to play without supporters.  It would be nice if it was only for the 2011 League Cup.  Would hate to start another season behind closed doors.

I forgot about that. I think the Port ban might be over as they were allowed fans at the League Cup final. BG however only played a couple of League Cup games and might not have served their full suspension. It would be such a shame if the first game of the season was played in front of an empty stadium.  Sad

BKK73 is right. Port's last match of their ban was the TLC semi v Navy-Rayong. I think BG may still have at least two matches to be played on neutral turf, but the Bunny will have a better idea of the exact number.

Then again maybe Port will buy the boys at the TFA a nice carpet and BG will supply the brush?

We sent a few players out on loan last season, but I doubt they will be back (Nathawat, Tanut etc.) Loanee's never seem to come back in Thai Football, even though I'd love to see these 2 back at the club.

As it seems most of the loan players from BU are to return to their clubs. For BGFC Wuttipong Kerdkul and Tanat  Wongsupphalak.

I'm happy Tanat (my fave player) is returning, but unfortunately I think he will be sold or loaned out again. He doesn't seem to have a future with us after he fell out with management.
But with all the staff changes here since he was loaned out, I guess there might be a possibility he will be given another chance.

8 players has left BU, including a few loan players. 5 new players has arrived, including 2 goalkeepers.

To meet AFC international rules, the following developments have taken place at the LEO:

The whole of the main stand (the west stand, not the big stand) is now being fully seated. Also, drums, flags will be prohibited from this stand. The total seating capacity should then be at around 2,000 for the whole of that stand (sections S, L & VIP).

Footpaths have also been built outside of the stadium alongside Rangsit-NakornNayok Road in accordant to fan safety within the vicinity of the stadium.

The away end (north stand) has also nearly been completed. The temporary stands have been replaced with a proper stand, capacity will also be higher, about 1,200-1,500. Due to the trouble at the end of last season and the closeness to the pitch, the fence will probably remain.

Some really nice improvements have been made to the stadium and it could be the nicest club owned in the country except for the lack of natural grass!

The turf provider at the PAT also happens to be the president of my cricket club.

I'm still torn on the artificial pitch debate. Whilst, no doubt it is an advantage come sept/oct time because it doesn't turn into a swamp. Also the water drainage is better than most Thai pitches, after a downpour, the water doesn't stay on the surface too long and the ball doesn't get held up in mass puddles as much.
However these very reasons are also what I don't like as we struggle to cope when we play away on those very pitches that do fall apart, we're not used to it. Our away record isn't good.

I've played 4 matches on our pitch and apart from a slightly faster ball pace, there isn't much difference than grass. The bounce seems pretty true too.

Sliding tackles can rip you up a bit though. I keep finding little bits of astroturf embedded into my body for days afterwards.

With the astroturf, what i always used to find out or was drilled into me was that the team who played on the astroturf always had an advantage and the opposing players always turned up in tights. Has this been the case at the Leo? I just have one humbling experience of Oldham one night, a result my father never wanted to tell me. SRS against Druryfire, we came off bad indeed, very bad in fact.

It would be a shame if it was.  Sad You've got a tough start. Pattaya (A), MTU (H), Army (H), Thai Port(A). Those 4 games could define your season.

Exactly what I was thinking............. and hoping Wink

but I honestly do think it's only fair we see out our punishment even though I think it was unjust in the first place. I've said it time and time again and this is no different, rules should not be changed to suit certain teams.

Yes, it is tough especially if we don't improve our away form. It's possible the home match v Army could be our only points and even that's not a given.

Incidentally, it's scheduled for Chonburi away on the last day of the season. Potentially interesting.

Personally, I still think TP will be top 6. They have a decent and stable set up which seems to be just as important as what players they have or haven't got. The same goes for Chonburi, they may lose a few decent players and be relatively quiet with regards to buying players, but they will still be there or thereabouts.

Yeah, the rumour has been going around for quite a while. I was hoping it was just that, but it seems not.
I haven't spoken to him for ages, so I don't know the reasons behind it.

I don't know if this is related to it, but he started like a house on fire for us but his form quickly dipped and he looked disinterested and out of shape towards the end of last season.

One thing I do know is that we currently have 8 foreigners on the books and we can only register 7 for the season.

Michael likes Thailand, if not even loving Thailand from what I would say. So I guess he might want to stay here. But as BG most propably is paying the highest wages in the league, it might be difficult to find a new club. Espacially as there are not many top clubs with remain space in the squad.

Well if it's Mike's decision because he's not happy at BG then he needs to take a pay cut if he wants to move.

If it's BG's decision, then we have made a rod for our own back by trumping MTU in the wage department to land him in the first place.

After doing absolutely nothing with it for months, I might actually be bothered to get my site up to date by then also.

The new away block

Yep, not sure what the capacity of this is now because it was extended higher than the temp that was there before, also you can make out in the pic that the seating on the west stand is complete which will lower the capacity of that stand as previously only the middle section was seated for 'VIP's'.

And funny you should ask, but yes, that is exactly the reason I need a new suit. I wore it to the expo and it was nearly splitting at the seams... I've gained quite a lot since the end of the season  Embarrassed

About Carlos joining you guys... Well, he didn't have the best track record with us for whatever reason, but I still think he is a decent coach. He is a bit of a disciplinarian and fell out with some players but I think the attitude of the players needed questioning more than the coach.
I think he will do well for you, but better than Rene remains to be seen.

As for potential BG staff, I've heard nothing and there is nothing on the webboard but I've deliberately kept some distance from the club during off season which has left me a bit out of the know with a few things.
Can you elaborate on what type of staff, as that could mean anything from playing staff to the tea lady. Even I'm staff at BG  Wink

A rematch of the Singapore Cup final against Tampines Rovers tonight at the LEO finished 3-2 to BG.

BG's 5 pre season results so far. (Massive difference to last years 25+)

BGFC 5 - 2 Songkhla
BGFC 2 - 1 TTM Pichit
Khon Kaen Province 0 - 3 BGFC
Khon Kaen 1 - 3 BGFC
BGFC 3 - 2 Tampines Rovers

I've updated my website after a few months off. I've linked most ppl's websites on here, but if anyone else wants linking, just let me know.

www.bangkokglassfc.webs.com

Also, let me know if there are problems viewing my site as it depends on your screen resolution but I tried to standardise it to fit all resolutions ok so that logos etc don't end up all over the place.

Will be good to see how BG perform. Will go to couple of their games this season. Where will they finish? I would expect a top 5 at least. Think they may well have an impact on the top three by way of causing some upsets in results.

Definately a team to watch. Maybe a good cup run?Huh?

Will be good to see how BG perform. Will go to couple of their games this season. Where will they finish? I would expect a top 5 at least. Think they may well have an impact on the top three by way of causing some upsets in results.

Definately a team to watch. Maybe a good cup run?Huh?

It all comes down to our defence. I still think we are lacking defensively. Amnart can't carry on forever and Peter Lang needs to step up to the plate as a central defender and not a midfielder, we have enough midfielders already. Noppol  and Supachai are decent fullbacks but can be prone to mistakes. Kritsakorn is a good keeper but manager rotate the keepers way too much for my liking.

Certainly in midfield and attack we look good. Jo looked very impressive last night, grabbing 2 goals and his all round play was good.

I think we are lacking slightly in defence to win the title, but I honestly think we will be much closer this year.

My personal line up for our strongest 11 on paper would be:

(GK) Kritsakorn, (DF) Noppol, (DF) Amnart, (DF) Lang, (DF) Supachai, (MF) Saruta, (MF) Sutee, (MF) Sylla, (MF) Takizawa, (FW) Sarayoot, (FW) Idangmar.

Subs: (GK) Klisana, (DF) Panuwat, (DF) Tanongsak, (MF) Byrne, (MF) Peerapong, (FW) Chatree, (FW) Ajayi

Andy, I know you watch the team far more often than anyone else on this forum, but I'm surprised that you'd include Suruta in your first 11 but leave Ajayi on the bench.

I know Ajayi can be frustratingly inconsistent, but when he's on fire he's as good as anyone in the league. Like yourself, I have doubts whether Ajayi and Jo will form a striking partnership. If they can though, it would make for a deadly pairing.

Also, If Sutee can remain injury free, I reckon he has one more good season in him before he reaches the veteran age. Potentially it could be an exciting season for BG.

I actually forgot Saruta was still at the Leo. There were rumours that he was going to transfer to Sriracha at the end of last season but the move obviously hasn't materialized.

How has Idangmar been performing in the pre-season friendlies?

Who's the small African player that's good good pace and really tricky footwork? That little devil must be horrible to mark.

I think Ajayi is perfect for changing a game if needed. He could play in place of Saruta but it would have to be on the wings, I'm not convinced he does enough tracking back to play there.

Saruta has looked good in pre season, but then again he did in last years pre season. I still think he has a lot to offer.

Idagmar has looked good so far. He looks like he will score if he plays. I think he will either be one of the best players in the league or another Goetkan, hard to say at this early stage how he will settle and just how fit he is, he also doesn't speak any Thai or English which could cause a problem.

@ BGB, I guess you can put Peter off your list for the first matches. He is injured again and missed nearly the whole preparation.

Yes, he hasn't done anything really since returning from Switzerland. It'll be at least few weeks yet before he can start training properly.

Can't be too specific about the rumours but I think it won't happen anyway. I'll be at the big game of course.

You'll be looking for revenge from last week Wink

Picture leakage of the new shirt...

Shocked  If this is genuinely our playing shirt (I'm not convinced it is  , even though everyone is saying it is), then I'm very disappointed. At least the 163 sponsors seem to have disappeared off of the front, but they are probably all over the back and arms. Leo seems to have gone back to Thai script also.

After Chonburi's eye burning effort, we seem to have gone the other way and gone for as bland as you can get, give me green and white stripes any day.

Is this season the season of horrible shirts?
