Bangkok Glass opened up the 2009 Singapore Cup defeating Woodland Wellington 1-0 today.
Midfielder Tanat Wongsupphalak's strike on 25 minutes was all that his side needed to eliminate Woodlands, who were losing finalists in last year's competition.

Has Bangkok Glass's ground been used before this in the Thai League? Did KTB play there?

Bangkok Glass played their first 2 games at the Leo Stadium, but i think this is now under renovation.
There last couple of home games have been played at the Queen Sirikit's 60th Anniversary Stadium
KTB played most of there games last year at Chulalongkorn University Sports Stadium

Is Nantawat Thansopa good enough to play for the national team?
He currently has 6 goals to his name, 2 scored yesterday in their win over Chula.
He scored 9 in last years ACL to be crowned leading goalscorer.

Ok, hey guys... I see you found the clubwebsite Bangkok Glass Page. Yep, it was through your website Vinny that I found it and set it up. It's nothing major and certainly not the 'Official English Language site' or anything, just a couple of ppl at the club asked if I could do something temporary until they can be bothered to get the 'En' link on the official site up and running. As for the club history, well the less said about that the better What are your opinions as to why results have started to drop off for us? Do you think the novelty of a 'new club' is wearing off or that the new manager has had a negative effect or simply that we overperformed at the beginning of the season? Would be interested to get your take on it...

I think that experience, or in this case lack of it, does make a difference. BKK Glass have been one of the best sides I've seen this season (they beat Chonburi 3-1) but the team that turned up against SriRacha on Saturday were unrecognisable from the one I saw earlier in the year.
I think that you might have got slightly carried away by your good start. And, announcing plans to prepare for the AFC CL were probably a bit premature. Also this has probably inspired other teams to raise their game when they play you. Last season it was noticeable how the opposition made things a lot harder for Chonburi as defending champions. That has certainly helped us this year as we've learned to cope with it.
It will be interesting to see how you perform on Wednesday. We are on a roll at the moment and if we beat you you can kiss goodbye to any hopes that you had of winning the league. Personally, I think that the rest of the season will become a two horse race.
Hope that helps.
Now, do you mind answering a couple of questions?
A couple of us have given your club a bit of stick on here due to the manner you arrived in the TPL. What is the feeling at the club? Do you understand why there may be a perceived bitterness?
Where have all your fans come from? I've been watching Chonburi since the beginning and our fan base has grown from a few dozen to a few thousand. But it has happened gradually and is the result of a lot of hard work and success. However, you seem to have a couple of thousand fans already. How have you managed this and what were these people doing before BKK Glass existed?
I'm not having a go here but I am curious.
If you'd like to meet up at the match on Wednesday, just let me know. I'd love the chance to chat to a BKK Glass fan.
Thanks.

Thanks for the responses Marco/SriRachaShark. Good to know your thoughts. Personally I do think we got carried away in our own hype and now reality has set in, it has affected us. The next few games are big ones on all fronts so it will be interesting to see what happens. If it all goes pear shaped then we could expect a plummet, but some good results could restore the confidence we need to push on for the rest of the season. So as for the stick we get, well I don't understand it, but then I do also support Milton Keynes and the New Orleans Superwarriorbigmacs or whatever they call themselves these days Seriously though.. Personally, yes absolutely I understand and if I was a fan of another team or a purist then I'm sure I would have a pop about it too. I have no qualms about the things that are said, after all no one likes anyone/thing who tries to buy instant success, eh Mr. Hughes. As for the rest of the club, I can't really answer but I get the feeling it's a bit kind of oblivious that ppl may resent us for it. After all (and I'm generalising here) it's kind of the done thing in Thailand to throw money at something and deal with the consequenses a lot later. Where have the fans come from? Well me, I'm guilty as charged. A new club popped up on my doorstep and I planted both feet on the bandwagon.. I guess I'm gonna be hung. drawn and quartered I guess that's the general story too as Pathum Thani is fairly densely populated. The stadium is near a big Uni too and it's also minutes away from the 'trendy' part of town which has a big following. The area is also fairly middle/upper class which might explain a lot. I'm sure the Bangkok Glass factory is source of a lot of supporters too and that is fairly close to the stadium. There is a small core of fans that seem like they are from before the TPL jump, but even then we've only been around since 2006 in Div 2. Be interesting to see if the fans stick around if things go wrong. Yeah I don't mind meeting up on Wed... You do realise I'm not an actual Bunny Girl, don't you?? Oh and Marco as for Anwin and Nelson, I honestly don't know. Anwin didn't look too serious but if it was concussion, he might be missing. We need Nelson, he is one who has kept his form and work rate through out the sticky patch.

I've seen about 3 or 4 Bkk Glass matches on Siam Sport TV (I call it Bangkok Glass TV, because they are on it so much ) and I haven't really been that impressed with Nelson San Martin. From what I have seen, he looks a bit lazy and he's not prepared to tackle . I personally like the look of Anon Boonsucko and Nantawat Tansopa. Is the Bkk Glass vs Chonburi match on TV?

Thanks for the response, BKK Glass Bunny.
Very honest, and amusing, answers. I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow. We'll be bringing our usual 1,800 or so fans so there should be a good atmosphere.
See you at the match.
The match is on TV.

@ BangkokGlassBunny, welcome to this board. I hope you will become an active member of this board, and keep us update about what's going on around the club. Taking this chance, I would have a few question and would appreciate to have an answer. The former coach Emser, was replaced by Surachai. According to Emser himself, he stepped down on his own wish, becoming the director of the youth academy. But I can't find any evidence for tat. Can you confirm this? And have you any idea, how he was coming to the club? And getting coach as well as director? And as BKK Glas had been founded already in 2006, where the club had been playing before the TPL times? Was it in the Khǒr Royal Cup? There had been talks with German side Bayer Leverkusen about a partnership. How far is this issue? Is there something to expect in the near future? In the FA Cup, there had been a team called Bangkok Glass SA, how they are affilated to BKK Glass FC?

As for Emser, I can confirm that is true and the reasoning he gave is supposedly true but it seems a strange decision and I think there is more than meets the eye going on there. Yes we were around since 2006 and were runners up in the Khor cup the last 2 years. The BK Glass factory has a small ground within it's premises which they used to play on. It is now used as their training ground/youth team ground etc. As far as I know they already have links but it's with Kaiserslautern but don't quote me on that. Bangkok Glass SA is something to do the sports company which is an offshoot of Bangkok Glass PLC. They own the main team and also own the BGFC futsol team but I don't know too much about it. Hope this answers your questions sort of... I am fairly new (hence why I support them and not a more established team) so I don't know a huge amount yet. ... SriRachaShark, sorry, I did look out for you but didn't see anyone. Did you get my message? I don't even know if it sent as it didn't appear to do anything so I sent it agin. You either got it twice or not at all, sorry! Anyway, hope you enjoyed the game

By far the most fans we've had there this season, do you know the official attendance? I didn't hear it announced. I knew you'd be bringing a lot but I wasn't expecting half of the main stand and 1/3 of the warren stand as well as a lot standing around the fences, sitting on top of busses etc. A big thanks for Chonburi too for contributing to the atmosphere and a good day all round.

Based on the gate receipts printed in Siam Gila I worked it out as 3,664. However, there must have been another 1,000 or so standing around the outside of the fence. The small grassy area to the right of where I was sitting was quite populated. Match report here http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifc/match_report.pl?action=report&id=1553816

Bangkok Glass will be back in Singapore at the end of the month to take on Phnom Penh Crown at the Quarter Final stage.
Any predicitons anyone? Games a two legged affair?
Do you think this will take their focus away from the TPL?

Hard to say. We have played the big games well this season but other games we might have been expected to win, we haven't, so it really depends on how big the club sees the game or how what they see as their priority. I would imagine they see it as a big game and over two legs I think it will be tight and we might just nick it, but we'll see. It's all a bit new for us, as is everything, I just fear we are trying to run before we can walk and enevitably we may fall flat on our face somewhere along the line. Long shot but if there are any other Glass Rabbits fans around this forum then join the facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pathum-Thani-Thailand/Bangkok-Glass-FC-/123681449973?ref=tswe only have a measly 9 fans so far

Very ambitious indeed. Another case of running before you can walk? Maybe. They say the stadium will hold 10,000. Our crowds seem to be getting bigger by the week (4,100 against PEA) but will they still be around when the novelty wears off, I'd like to thinks so, but who knows. But I'm not complaining. The new project is just 700 yards from my house.

Singapore Cup: Come-from-behind win gives Thais advantageA largely second-string Bangkok Glass outfit prevailed against gallant Cambodian champions Phnom Penh Crown 2-1 in their Singapore Cup quarterfinal first leg clash at Jalan Besar Stadium on Wednesday evening. Chan Chaya put Phnom Penh ahead in just under ten minutes, before Chatree Chimtale and Mathee Pungpo scored either side of half-time to ensure the Thai Premier League team won the first ever competitive game between these two nations at club level. It also marked a triumphant return to Singapore for former Thailand international and Bangkok Glass coach Surachai Jattupatarapong, since he resigned as assistant coach of Home United to take up his present post in May. Phnom Penh came into the quarterfinal looking to create a bigger impression after they upset the Young Lions 2-0 in the first round to advance to the Singapore Cup latter stages for the first time in four attempts. They made two changes to the lineup that created the biggest shock of the tournament so far. Cameroonian forward Jean Roger Lappe Lappe is on loan with another Thai Premier League club Samut Songkhram, while his cold-stricken compatriot Oscar Mpoko was benched. Taking over their respective roles in the team were Nigerian forward Akeeb Tunji Ayoyinka and Cambodian Under-19 international Keo Sokngon. Meanwhile Bangkok Glass only retained four regulars from the team that beat Woodlands Wellington 1-0 in the opening round, with their key players, including the imports, not making the trip south. The Cambodians took the game to their opponents in the early exchanges as they took advantage of their opponents’ sluggishness on the pitch. Their efforts paid off on nine minutes when left midfielder Chan Rithy robbed the ball on the left, did a one-two with Ayoyinka before crossing for Chaya, who produced a sublime finish in the box to give them the lead. The early goal stung the Glass Rabbits into action as they mounted wave after wave of attacks at the Phnom Penh goal in search of the equalizer. But they found the determined Cambodians a hard nut to crack, and their poor final touch after their impressive build-ups did not help their cause. The Phnom Penh resistance was finally broken five minutes before the break, when Nantawat Thaensopa crossed on the edge of the box for Chatree to head the ball into the net from close range. The Thais continued to pile pressure early in the second half as they searched for the goal that could give them the decisive edge in the first leg. They had their wish eight minutes after the restart when substitute forward Mathee snatched the ball from Sokngon, who was taking too long with it close to his team’s penalty area, before unleashing a shot that deflected in off the left post. Phnom Penh threw in Mpoko after going behind, and the midfielder reignited the attacking spark in the gutsy but fast-tiring team with his clever dribbles that posed problems for the Thai defence. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to punish the Bangkok Glass defenders, who remained sluggish and were just relieved to see out the rest of the game without any further setbacks. Ayoyinka had a goal ruled out for offside six minutes from time as the Thais were content to hold on their advantage ahead of the second leg at the same ground next Wednesday. Phnom Penh coach Apisit Im Amphai praised his men for their commendable performance despite the first-leg loss. “The Thai clubs, even their reserves, are better in standard than us, but I am pleased we have given our best and tried to fight back and win,” he said. “I was very happy to see us get the early goal, but sad when we conceded two to go behind. “We now know we have several areas we need to work on ahead of the second leg, especially in our teamwork, finishing and fitness. “We have to work even harder next week when they bring a stronger lineup.” Meanwhile Surachai was a satisfied coach after seeing his team do just enough to take the advantage into the second leg. “There were two big problems for us tonight,” he candidly noted. “Firstly, it was the pitch. Secondly, it was the fitness levels of our reserves. Due to their lack of match fitness, it was not easy for them to play better football in 90 minutes. “As they got tired later on, they started to lose concentration and focus, but I am okay with the result and their efforts.” He remained coy though on whether the full first-team would make the trip next week to complete the job after the narrow lead the second-stringers produced to break Cambodian hearts. “This was a big risk I had to take when I had league matches in between the Singapore Cup games, as jet-lag and fatigue were big problems for us,” he added. “But in every match we are involved in, we still want to play and win. We will try to open up our game more and not make silly mistakes. “The second leg could be a different story, so it is still possible I could bring my best eleven here.” Link: http://www.sleague.com/Web/main.aspx?ID=,68e68380-9e0b-44b2-8a32-d06df7470ca6&AID=76052d20-dcf4-40e1-9411-2735dd44296b&NLT=300

Well, I think it's a safe bet that we will make the final now barring a complete collapse.
Should we win the final v Geylang of Singapore, I don't think there will be any qualification for anything except maybe defending the cup next year.
I think if the Singaporian FA give any AFC places to their cup comps, it will be for the Singapore League Cup, but I might be wrong.

No, nothing pal. If anything they will be invited again next year but this kind of takes he focus of the TPL, so if BKK Glass really want to be TPL challengers then they should try and get out of it really.

Ney Fabiano returns to Thailand
Melbourne Victory today announced that Brazilian striker Ney Fabiano has reached an agreement with Bangkok Glass FC and will join the Thai Premier League side effective immediately.
Fabiano, 30, was recruited to Melbourne Victory from Thai Premier League team Chonburi FC and scored six goals in 30 Hyundai A-League appearances for the club.
Melbourne Victory Football Operations Manager Gary Cole said the club and player have parted on good terms, with Fabiano leaving in search of regular first-team football.
"We would like to thank Ney Fabiano for his contribution to Melbourne Victory and wish him all the best as he embarks on the next stage of his career," Cole said.
"Ney loves Melbourne Victory, but at the same time he wants to play regular first-team football and we understand that.
"Where possible, we have always assisted players wanting to further their careers overseas and Ney is a perfect example of this.
"Ney was given permission to travel to Thailand last week for discussions regarding his future and has reached an agreement with Bangkok Glass."
Fabiano paid tribute to the Melbourne Victory faithful and spoke fondly of their support since his arrival at the club in July last year.
"I would like to thank so much the Melbourne Victory supporters," Fabiano said.
"Part of my heart will stay in Melbourne forever because Melbourne Victory has been so important to me.
"I am sad to be leaving, but I am a professional, and my life will now continue in Thailand.
"The Melbourne Victory fans are fantastic and I will miss them, but life is life." http://www.melbournevictory.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=31085
