Tobacco will play their reminder of their games at the Institute of Physical Education Stadium in Samut Sakhon. A change from the Dephatsdin Stadium they used at the beginning of the season

If I could over the negative meanings of club's name, I could possibly be a fan.
Although I must say with the words Tobacco + Monopoly echoing the likely hood is hanging be a thread!  Grin

I agree with you, it would be much better if Tobacco was just the major sponsor for a team.

For example, they are playing in Samut Sakon (they will probably move again!), but why can't they represent this province and be called Samut Sakon under the sponsorship of Tobacco.

Surely they would generate a fan base? That must be an incentive

But going against them, they would lose their identity, something the owners are probably scared of losing the name of the club, imagine in 5 years if they were Samut Sakon with shirt sponsor of TB then the majorty of fans would forget their routes..

It's extraordinary that such a club exists at all in a country as anti-smoking as Thailand. And they play at the Physical Education Stadium! That's priceless!

It's the age old problem of company/forces teams. As DF says these clubs do have a history and therefore shouldn't just be written off. However, associating with a region would make a lot of sense.

Maybe FAT, and the clubs, will be inspired by Chonburi's success and try something along these lines.

The Thailand Tobacco Monopoly (TTM) has launched the TTM Football Coaching Course for youngsters from October 20-26.

The course is available for children aged between seven and 15. The seven-day programme is divided into three age groups.

The course focuses on a variety of skills such as passing, dribbling, heading, controlling and shooting. About 400 players will be accepted and they will receive free clothes and handbooks.

For further information, contact 02-933-9720 or go to http://www.tmm-fcc.com

Samut are back in action in the Singapore Cup come the end of the month against DPMM Brunei.

If they can progress, they may well just meet Bangkok Glass in the semi's.

Anyone fancy an all Thai semi final in Singapore?

Will you be there Jakarta?

Right folks,
I need to get to SS for the match in ten days time. I could go with the MTU fan coach but I prefer to make my own way.

1) Has anyone used the vans from Victory Monument to get there?

2) Is it easy to find the ground? Do locals know about it?

3) If the need arises, it is possible to get a taxi back to Nonthaburi from so far out?

TTM look to be on the move again...this time to Pichit. I've been told that Samut Sakhon will be starting it's own team next season anyway. The people in charge are having open trials at the weekend by all accounts.

I think that's a good decission from the people of Samut Sakhon. And the people in Phichit might be warned. I am not sure, after this, people can get really behind the club.

I think it's good that clubs are now trying to find a home, but they do need to stay in one home.

But it's not good that bigger clubs are moving into towns that already have a smaller club though. It's like they want to move in and take the fanbase and not work at anything.

If TTM want to succed, then they should stay in Samut Sakon and generate some interest in their team. If they haven't succeded in Samut Sakhon, which does have followers of football as shown in the interest in creating  a team themselves, then why do they do TTM think they can succed elsewhere?

Which clubs you mean? TOT, M150, PEA, TTM? If yes, yes. Very much. I dont like to have a situation like in the V-League, where clubs nearly changing, sold and replaced nearly every year. Nearly any kind of identification with a league, community or anything else got lost.

I don't mind 'coporate' clubs changing their ways to join communities, but they shouldn't be joining communities that already has a club, such as Pichit and Buriram.

I also don't like these 'coporate' clubs that initally did well in moving into a community, but then simply just move out and into another.

It's early days, but what will happen to the likes of Pichit and Buriram of the regional leagues when the big boys start moving in?

What an idiot. Just realised I put this on the wrong thread!
In my defence it can get confusing - Samutprakan, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram!

TTM have joined BEC Tero and (apparently) BG in dumping their coach just before season's end. Jose Alves Bervis, who won the league in 2004/05 with TTM, will remain with the club, but his future role is undecided, although Technical Director is being suggested. One of the staff coaches, Panipol Gertyaem has been promoted to Head Coach.

TTM-Phichit are turning Japanese Korean. As well as signing new coach Ho Myeong-Bae, they have sponsors from Korea providing 30 million baht for the club. Officials are also flying to Seoul to sign an M.O.U. contract with KL-League outfit Seoul FC. In addition, they will sign a contract with Dongbuk Academy, a leading football academy in Korea.

TTM hope to send their youth side to train in Korea for a spell, and eventually to have TTM players move and play in the K-League.

If I've read this correctly, they are also going to sign 5 K-League players (presumably from Seoul) to play for TTM-Phichit in 2011.

Oh, and I have no idea what an MOU contract/deal is. Feel free to enlighten me.

Seems the approach from the Koreans is to buy into a 'company club' rather than a a club representing the province. Is this because the province clubs aren't for sale or because the Koreans have other interest's other than football? Are the Koreans big on Tobacco and whatever Rose Asia sell!
