That looks like a nice stand SRS. Pity about the running track though.

I don't like the running track or the gaps in the corners but the other two stands are great. I guess I'll have wait until we get a full house in a competetive match before I pass judgement.

Am I right in thinking that the main stand was developed from an existing stand? If so, it's a great bit of work.
End of the day, the stadium wasn't purpopse built for Chonburi F.C but as a multi-purpose stadium for the province–a function it's currently fulfilling in the National Games–so it makes sense to have as many facilities as possible under one roof. I didn't use to be keen on athletics tracks, but it seems fair to say that it's generally only us Brits that have a problem with them. They don't seem to affect the atmosphere in Rome or Naples or Athens.

The whole place has been re-done and it is a remarkable transformation. I get what you mean about facilities for the whole province (and there's probably a political element to this) but we have a few multi-purpose stadia within a few miles of each other ; Assumption, IPE Stadium, SriRacha Stadium. Therefore it would have been nice to have a purpose built football ground for the club.

To make the stadium bigger! Do they need a bigger stadium? I think it would suit them to make it smaller.

I imagine the stadium was expanded for that (those photos were taken in August). Local administrations often use national sports events to justify the expansion of stadia. See Suphanburi, Kanchanburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Sawan etc

Thanks. I've been enjoying your site, too. Another stadium enthusiast to help me bore the pants off all the other members!
So your photos are of the new Pattaya Stadium that isn't the new Pattaya Stadium! The one that was going to be a 20,000 bowl like Korat's and Chiang Mai's is going to be reclaimed by nature like Cathkin Park or Bradford Park Avenue.

Yep, a multi-million-pound stand, not more than a few years old, gets demolished as was the case at Highbury and Filbert Street.

3 photos of Pattaya Uniteds new stadium as at 20th Dec 2010
As I was informed today. This is not the new PU stadium. Or at least this is not the big 20.000 seater under construction. The Stadium above is close behind the Nong Plue and the Banglamung Rovers from the Chonburi League are playing there.

It's just one bare stand sitting in the middle of nowhere.

When was the last time Rajamangala Stadium full of audiences like Gelora Bung Karno or Bukit Jalil in AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 ?

Will Pattaya use this ground for the new season? They are supposed to be using the Chonburi (IPE) Sports College Stadium. The one we've just vacated.

While we're on the subject can anyone tell me anything about the Bang Mod stadium in Thonburi? Samut Prakan used it last year and, I think, Rajvithi are using it this year. It seems quite modern. Does anyone know why this fairly large stadium was built? Is it part of a university or sports complex?
Re Bang Mod Stadium If it helps, the map coordinates for Google Maps etc. are 13.647363,100.493059 http://tinyurl.com/68mrzgf

Some of you may have seen this photo before as it appears on Wikipedia and other sites, but it bears reproducing here. A stunning photo of the Suphachalasai showing just how good it looks since its recent repainting. Far better maintained and far more attractive than the Rajamangala. Compare this photo with the one of Suphachalasai in its original form, taken from a similar vantage point here: http://www.thaifootball.com/webboard/index.php?topic=38.msg11819#msg11819
