It was good to see so many Samut Songkhram fans at the match. Easily the best supported away side we've had all season. I look forward to playing you again next year.
Did you play in the fans match before the main game? I did and I really enjoyed myself.
However, I had to leave before it finished because I had to meet Lokomotive from this board.

I've just posted some basic facts about Thai Port's next opponents Samut Songkhram FC. I know a lot more about the town, then I do about the team! I've visited the place a couple of times and really enjoyed staying there. For anyone who hasn't been, the quirkiest thing about the town are the market stalls that run parallel with the the train track. Everytime a train goes through (about 3 per day) the stalls have to move out of the way. Seconds after the train has passed the market moves back into place. It's amazing to see I've added 2 video clips that I took at the market at the bottom of the article. Link: http://thaiportfc.blogspot.com/2009/09/next-opponents-samut-songkhram.htmlMarco, keep up the good work with your oosting, i like the short but sweet facts on your next opponents. Although i like to think i know a lot about the clubs, it always good to know a little about the town aswell. Keep it up.

I thought it would be nice to add a little geographical info to the article. I saw that you mentioned the Everton v AEK Athens match in another post. What did you make of the 5 officials thing? (Referee, 2 Linesmen and 2 extra Officials stood behind the goal) I thought it led to even more indecision between the officials then usual. There were plenty of looks of "are you going to give it or shall I"? between the ref and the bloke behind the goal, especially on that Baines penalty claim.

Give it a chance. It will need some time to get common and get the shape. Maybe it is not a bad idea. The game is much faster nowadays than years ago. So have one more ref at the line there, might not be the badest idea. but it needs stated clearly for what he is in charge. Like in the American Football.

I've heard about this on the radio this afternoon and to be honest, it wouldn't seem to have worked, from all accounts, the AAR's as they seem to be known kind of got in the way.
What is there job? To watch the ball go over the line or to make actual decisions?
Makudi should ask FIFA to trial it in the TPL and then we will see what a real farce it will tun into.

Fair play to Samut Songkhram for their goals to points ratio this season! They have only scored 21 goals in 29 games, but have turned that paltry total into 33 points. Their football might not be exciting to watch, but it's obviously effective at scraping enough 1-0 wins to stay up.

Siam Cement Group has come to the rescue of cash-strapped Samut Songkhram FC by becoming the Thai Premier League side's main sponsor. SCG president Kan Trakulhoon said yesterday the firm supported the club because it wanted to help push for football development in the country. "Samut Songkhram FC have players with skill and determination," he said. The club are now called SCG Samut Songkhram FC. Having supported badminton for decades, SCG has extended its sponsorship to other sports including golf and football. Samut Songkhram coach Somchai Chuayboonchum had threatened to quit the club at the end of the upcoming season because the club failed to attract a major sponsor. Somchai said SCG gave the club 10 million baht for this year and would review the sponsorship deal on a year-by-year basis. With the financial backing from SCG, Somchai now sets his sights on guiding the club to a top-nine finish. "If we do not have financial problems, I am sure that we can finish the season in the top nine," he said. Meanwhile, promoted club Si Sa Ket FC yesterday unveiled Muang Thai Life Assurance as their main sponsor. Club president Thanet Kruarat said Si Sa Ket now had about 20 million baht for the new season which kicks off next weekend. Tipped to make a quick return to Division One, Thanet said his team would prove critics wrong. Si Sa Ket FC enjoy a huge fan base so the club are extending the capacity of their stadium from 12,000 to 15,000, he said.

SCG have extended their sponsorship deal with Samut Songkram for another 3 years (2011-2013). The deal is worth 100 million baht.
A fuller story is on loko's website already.

Samut Songkram's manager, Somchai Chuayboonchom, has identified his transfer targets for next season. He's interested in Nattapon Panreut and Teerasin Daengda (both MTU), plus Sarayoot Chaikamdee of Thai Port. However, there are concerns in some quarters that bringing in a 'superstar' could disrupt the strong team spirit that the current squad currently has.

Teersail and Nattapon? Why doesn't he just finish his blag and talk about Rooney and Gerrard?

Samut Songkram are in the process of trying to sign former Brazilan international Ailton, pending a medical, and a brief trial. Rumour has it he will be on about 300,000 bt/mth if signed.
Among the honours he's collected in his career, Ailton won the Bundesliga in 2004 at Werder Bremen.

In my opinion, the money would be better spent on improving their ground.

Hmm, whats Smaut Songkhram as a place like to be in most days of your life? I bet he'd be in Bkk most of the time in a bar somewhere. I don't think he'd be too bothered pick up a decent wage and playing poorly.

More on Ailton. As per Loko's post it appears the move isn't going ahead. I kind of lost my way towards the end of this article, but I think that's the gist.
Now Samut Songkram appear to be looking at 28-year old Maltese forward, Etienne Barbara, who currently plays with Carolina RailHawks in the USA's second tier. Barbara has represented Malta at U-16, U-18, U-21 as well as being a senior international. He will be trialled in Samut Songkram's friendly with Vietnamese side Dong Thap on 30 November. Perhaps Greg and Mark could head out there and see what he's like, while checking out the sturdiness of the stands.
If he is signed, he will be part of the SS squad that is travelling to Malaysia for a tournament (Kelantan Cup?)

So we should be looking at a strong Chanthaburi team next year and a poor SS team i assume since the whole squad will be made up of rejects from other clubs. Still got you Chanthaburi shirt loko?

You definately should look out Chanthaburi next year. Although you better have a watch at PTT and Chainat Dru. Even though the upcoming singings of Chainat are not listed there. thai-fussball.de - Transfer overview Thai Premier LeagueThe players from Samut just followed their old coach. Re- Samut I am not sure. Charnvit is confident. and yes I still have the kit from Chanthaburi. Of course. And it is hanging on my wall in a picture frame. It marked a new era in Football for me, thanks to SRS. The kit as well as he will always have playce in my heart in rememberances of that weekend back in October 2008. Ups, and the broken foot just a day later.

It seems Ailton is out of FC Oberneuland. "Kicker" is reporting that his lawyer confirmed to have contacts with foreign clubs.

The thaipremierleague.co.th website should have a full list of registered squads in Thai at some point. Meanwhile, all I can tell you is that Wisarut (former MTU and Rajpracha player) has joined Samut Songkhram :0-)

The headline of this thread always makes me hungry. Three years ago, a friend sent me a lightblue shirt with naughty looking 'Platu' on it. Tomyum Platu is what I am longing for.
