Vichit concerns, V-league will surpass Thai league as Thai Clubs relocate
Dr. Vichit Yamboonraung, Chairman of Thai Premier League Co.,Ltd shows his concern regarding relocation of Thai football PEA and TTM might be disadvanatage. He believes that if the trend continues the Vietnam league will surpass Thai league within 3 years.
Since the relocation of PEA to Buriram and TTM to Pichit, Dr. Vichit disagrees with the politicians in term of managing the club and then taking it into their election area.
“I suggest the Executive Board of each club should consider very carefully when it comes to relocation. To move away from the fan base shows the uncertainty of their future. When the fans see the team moving in to the area, I think they probably feel insecure about the club settling there permanently. How could they get the fan base if the fans feel that way?”
He also admits that if Thai clubs still keep changing the base, Vietnam league will surpass them eventually. “I believe that if the situation remains the same and clubs are happy about moving to different places and fan base, I can guarantee you that the whole league will not be moving anywhere. Within 3 years, V-league will beat us because they are settled in one place.”
Not sure what he's so concerned about. A bit of research and Vichit will notice that Vietnamese clubs are currently uprooting aswell. What he should be concerned about is the fact that clubs are moving into the same neighbourhoods as other lower level clubs. That is the worry

VFF has just made a big argument recently . Did FAT know ? Vietnam To Allow Just One Naturalized Player To Take The Field New rules and regulations are being set. At the conference on professional football held by Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) recently, it was decided that only one naturalized Vietnamese player will be allowed to take to the field at a time.
While the new season will allow clubs to sign up to five foreign players and play up to three imports, only one naturalized Vietnamese citizen will be allowed to play.
This was decided at a meeting which was attended by representatives from the 14 clubs in the V-League and the 12 clubs from the First Division Tournament.
It was also decided that from 2011 onwards, all clubs in the V-League will have to be registered companies.
For the First Division teams, this rule of private ownerships will only apply from 2014 onwards.
From 2011 to 2013, each professional V-League club can register only four foreigners and use three foreign players while for First Division clubs, they are allowed to register three and use two foreign players.
The VFF plan to invite clubs’ representative to join the organizing board of the V-League from 2010 onwards.

Are these all long distance moves (obviously I know Bangkok to Chang Mai is, but I do not know where the other cities are). Have these clubs built up a supporter base at their old ground, or was support poor.

Ayutthaya built a good fan base. Most of the other clubs had fairly low levels of attendance.

You made the statement that PEA had relocated the most so go back as far as you can.I believe that PEA was formed in 1970. Sounds as if other sides played all over Thailand?Maybe it was just PEA who played here there and everywhere? As for me joining the TPL boom I joined at my first chance.

Expressing concern through the media can be interpreted as either a powerless warning or helplessly thinking a loud. League has the supreme command of setting necessary relocation criterias unless it has forgotten when drafting Bylaw or just simply conducting mickey mouse business and whine.
