The season curtain raiser will be played at Supachalasai Stadium on Sunday 1st March, KO 6:30pm. Chonburi v Fai Fa Ayutthya Should be a good game and, hopefully, there'll be a decent crowd to get the campaign off to a good start  |

on the pea fc and thai kick off it is listed as 5.30pm... we'll have to get to the bottom of this as I'm not 100% sure. maybe we've got a conspiracy against Chonburi to get the best seats.

Not a great game but a terrific atmosphere. I thought that Chonburi just about shaded it overall after being second best for most of the first half. It's a shame that Anderson's effort hit the bar instead of going in as it would have been a stunning goal. Nice to meet a couple more posters from this messageboard yesterday. Feeling even more confident going into the forthcoming season now |

sad to say it but I do think Chonburi deserved it as they had more of the ball. Really thought Ronachai was going to get that late goal, he with Fungao probably needed to come on 10 to 15 mins before. Anyway well done Chonburi, the whole event was a step forward for Thai club football, hopefully we'll see a few more steps forward this year. Good to meet Toby, SRS and Dave on the ground. Security beefed up as FA braces for King's Cup trouble Sunday's King's Trophy match between Muang Thong United and Chonburi FC will take place under heavy security at Supachalasai National stadium, with some 500 policemen deployed to guard against the kind of violence that marred last year's fixture .
The traditional prelude to the domestic season, which pits the Thailand Premier League champions against the FA Cup winners, was hit by violent clashes on and off the field between Thai Port FC and Muang Thong supporters that left dozens injured.
To prevent a repeat, the Football Association of Thailand has beefed up security measures and banned fans from bringing objects such as bottles and flares into the stadium.
FA general secretary Ongart Kohsinkha said the association would do everything in it could to ensure a peaceful match. "There will be no trouble before, during or after the game," he assured reporters. "We want to ensure the match portrays a good image of Thai football this time.
"Each set of supporters will sit in separate zones of the stadium, as they did for the finals of the League Cup and FA Cup."
Responding to reports that Thai Port fans were seeking to buy tickets allocated to Chonburi, Ongart said the issue was beyond the control of his organisation.
"We cannot prohibit Thai Port supporters from doing that because every fan has a right to watch the game. However, if those fans cause any problems, the club will be held responsible of their actions."

Vinnie I have to agree with you comments I will be in Bangkok this weekend and was thinking about popping along to this game(in my new 300 baht Buriram PEA shirt)but I guess if there is any trouble near me then Buriram PEA would be held responsible. |

There were a lot of Port fans in the Chonburi section for the FA Cup, and I'm sure they're using the same avenues again. It was impossible to get a ticket in Bangkok prior to the match last time (at least according to the FAT staff), so unless they're queueing on matchday, someone at the Chonburi end is helping them, be it fans or club staff. Whatever the case, I'm sure someone at the club will have an idea of how it happens and is capable of preventing it, should they wish to.
I've no problem with Port fans going to the game, but I hope they don't turn it into another childish "Look at us" spectacle like FA Cup day.

They will though. If I were a Chonburi fan I wouldn't be too happy about it either. It looks a bit pathetic and it also makes the point that the club can't sell their own allocation to their own fans. I hope it's not a sell out as I couldn't get a ticket from total reservation. |

I imagine you'll be able to buy tickets at the stadium on the day of the match. At B200 a ticket, I doubt it'll be a sellout. When I went to the League Cup Final between Thai Port and PEA they were selling tickets prior to the match outside the stadium. If it's a draw after 90 mins, will there be extra time or will it go straight to penalties? |

As I had nothing to do today i ended up going to the game. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get a ticket but I shouldn't have been as the ground was only half full.
Chonburi fully deserved their win and I thought that Pibob and Ekaphan were lively throughout the game. Ekaphan was awarded man of the match and his winning goal was a fitting reward for his performance even though it looked like it went through Weera's body. I might be wrong as I haven't seen the replay on TV yet.
Muangthong looked lackluster and their big players like Datsakorn, Christian and Dagno didn't perform to their usual high standards.
I was surprised that Zesh Rehman started at left back. He didn't have the greatest debut but he showed signs that he could be a good acquisition. I'm sure he'll feel far more confident if he gets a run at the heart of defence.

About fifty Chonburi fans spent most of the second half protesting against Worawi. The security forces kept moving in to get them to take down their banners but every time they walked away, the placards came out again.
I'll post a couple of photos tomorrow.

I thought he was a bit hasty with a couple of yellow cards but overall he had a good match. It's good to see him back refereeing. |
