In my humble opinion, it's wrong on so many levels.

It's a new start for Ayutthaya football, now we have a club the fans can get behind. We know where Ayutthaya FC will play and who they will represent 10 years from now. My bet is that clubs like PEA, TTM and TOT will die a natural death within 5 years time

I think PEA now for sure. They turned the wrong way. They had the chance least year to really get behind the community. But now? But ok, this might now clearly the advantage of AFC. And I think that alot dissapointet PEA supps, will go behind the club now, and this may lead into an increase in their att next season.

PEA fans in Ayutthaya had a shirt burning get together... for closure. I think I was closed a while ago and just got fed up as it was required to be a half supporter, the club had no intention of being with Ayutthaya and no intention of developing.
But it's all good, the last couple of years have brought together a strong fan club who are now firmly behind Ayutthaya FC who seem to have good management and strong financial backing.

I know PEA didn't really take Ayutthaya to heart, making noises about moving in the alst 12 months. But wasn't this a case of basically being 'bought' and moved by force rather than because the previous management wanted to go at this moment.

Of course, the previous management could have turned down Newin's advances, but in my opinion they never so any future in Ayutthaya, why was that?

Great scenes in Ayutthaya, well done PEA fans. Overnight Ayutthaya FC become the biggest club in the RL.

Still baffled by PEA's long-standing desire to leave Ayutthaya. They became champions and one of the best supported clubs in the league during their time there. It seems that Ayutthaya was pretty good for PEA.

Let's not forget that they tried jumping on the Chonburi bandwagon when they relocated there in 2007. I didn't see any mass demonstrations or shirt burning then.

However, it does seem like an odd move. As you say, Vinnie, they are now a well supported club and the people of Ayutthya have come out in force over the last 18 months to get behind them. Money talks.

It's so good to have PEA and their little world of power games out of Ayutthaya. Hope 2010 cleans out the cobweb clubs.

***UPDATE***

I believe the coach is now staying on. TOT's new owner has had a change of heart and not re-hired the coach. So, basically we are back to as it was 2 days ago!!

Plans for PEA-Buriram's new stadium in the paper today. 25,000 capacity. It looks nice enough but then concept photos always do. The proposed name though sounds like a Disneyland ride: 'Thunder Castle'.  Grin Grin Grin :Smiley

NEWIN’S BIG DREAM FOR BURIRAM PEA
Quote
BANGKOK (4 Feb 2010) – Buriram PEA chairman Newin Chidchob has fostered big ambition for his club since taking over the 2008 Thai Premier League champions then known as Provincial Electricity Authority.

Newin said that he plans to have world class players in his club where he hopes that they will emulate the success of Liverpool and Manchester United in England.

Nicknamed the Thunder Castle, Buriram PEA have been tasked with becoming one of the top four teams in the Thai Premier League in three years.

And towards realising his dream, Newin has promised to give his Thai Premier League side 100,000 baht for each goal they score in the upcoming campaign.

"We are proud to unveil Buriram PEA as the team for Buri Ram people," said Newin.

"In England, there are strong teams outside the capital of London particularly Manchester United and Liverpool. I will try to make our team become like the two teams.

"Our ultimate goal is for the team to win the Thai league title and other Cup competitions."

Newin also unveiled plans to build the team's 500 million baht new stadium which can hold 24,000 people. There will also be a football academy and a training camp with top class facilities.

"I am doing this because I love football. I am not doing this for fun," he said.

Is it just me, or have Buriram suddenly just woken up this past week

In the media once again

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/sports/32470/newin-hopes-electric-side-can-deliver-a-shock

The website editor even says... Although we are in the Thai Premier League through a shortcut ... many things in this country are done through shortcuts,"

Is this really the way to promote your team? I can see now on the field, off sides that aren't offsides, red cards that are later overturned. And off the field, possible opponents getting richer with back handers

Well, the gap is getting smaller and smaller, for Clubs in the TPL I having or can have feelings  for. Good old poor Chonburi, TPFC or even BEC. Better to stay with a club, which is having is feet on the grounds instead in heaven.

Even I wish all those newly rich clubs to fail, I worry about the thai football if this would happen. It's like riding on the edge.  It is good for the football in one way, but I worry about what will happen if they fail, and the clubs go down. ANd thats maybe the bubble we already had been talking about.

And the chances for getting Terry are not so bad actually. Cause after he had layed down all the wifes from his teammates, he needs to loook for a new club.

Does anyone have a link to those pictures of PEA Ayutthaya fans burning their shirts? I want them for my MTU Vs PEA  match  preview.
I had a good search but could not find them. The old PEA site is down, understandably.

I don't. But neither do I have photos of PEA fans burning their shirts when they left Ayutthya to play in Chonburi for the 2007 season. No-one batted an eyelid then. Wink

Ok, I have given Buriram PEA the benefit on doubt on many occasions. Even after our away game there, I still didn't hate them.... In fact, I enjoyed my time there and was happy that they liked BG Man.

BUT THIS MEANS WAR !!!

If they can steal a whole club then nicking a mascot idea is simple stuff.

You can rest assured that I didn't pose for a photo with him. Mind you, I don't think I'd like to be photographed with BGB in that get up. Wink

OK I'm going to speak to a man who knows a man who might be able to at least try and speak with the big bods at BPEA and prevent MTU fans getting the same treatment other teams have got.
So putting personal rivalries aside, please can I have permission from Dale, Vinnie and Andy to forward your reports of treatment at BPEA to staff at MTU?
