There are 6 new players in the squad

1. Ekkachai Preechakool (Midfileder who has come back after a long injury)
2. Ibrahim Khalil Doumbia (Forward from Ivory Coast)
3. Attapong Wongsunthorn (Forward)
4. Wisut Bunpeng (Midfielder)
5. Ulrich Munze (Goalkeeper from Cameroon, had been playing in Vietnam)
6. Wa-lop Saejiu (Goalkeeper from Krabi FC)

You've signed on our god damm goalkeeper from Krabi, is he first team material?

anybody know this guy Eduardo Goncalves

how has he been playing this season?

We have a player called 'Edvaldo Goncalves Perriera', it must be the same guy you are talking about.

He started off the season with a bang, scoring 3 goals in his first 4 games. Since then he hasn't found the net, and has regularly been missing games through suspension and injury. He's a striker, quite tall (6ft3), and I'd politely describe him as lumbering (to be fair, he is 35!). He does have a very good touch though, and he seems decent in the air.

I'm not sure what the future holds for him at Thai Port. Pipat and Pitipong started against Muang Thong Utd. Nirut, Teerawut and an Ivorian striker called Ibrahim Khalil Doumbia are waiting in the wings, so Edvaldo could find himself surplus to requirements.

thanks for that. a guy i know used to coach him in the past...must find out where...

FA Cup Round 3 result: Raj Navy Rayong 1 Thai Port FC 2: Goals from Jirawat & Teerawut Grin

Full match report to follow from: SriRacha Shark.
[/quote)

I've just got back from town so I'll post the report later tonight. I will say, as a teaser, that it was a rollicking good cup tie. About 3,500 including 100/150 from Thai Port.

he played in china for a few years as wel before a short spell in malaysia with my team where he scored nine goals in 15 games

Thanks Shark!

I'm glad it was a good match. I only know who the goalscorers were, so it'll be interesting to read your thoughts on the match. I reckon 100/150 is a decent turn out for a Wednesday afternoon match 200kms away from Bangkok. I know some of the guys had arranged transport and were leaving Khlong Toei @ mid-day.

PS - I'm guessing that Jirawat's goal was a free kick? He has to be up there with Arthit as the best free kick taker in the TPL.

They were a friendly bunch. We met them again at the services on our way home.

A report (of sorts) is now up on the FA Cup thread.

Toopadamee Stadium.

Khalil didn't play on Wednesday but there was a huge bloke among the substitutes. I think he was wearing number 40 but I'm not 100% sure.

That could well have been him them, I know he very tall. I know nothing else about him though.

Do they not have an equivalent of the "Rothmans football Yearbook" in Thailand?  Smiley It's almost impossible to find out any player stats, or info about the clubs history.

lokokmotive and druryfire do a fantastic job updating the Wikipedia pages. However, you're right about the lack of information available. I've been sorting through loads of old stuff during the past couple of weeks (hence the photos) so I might be able to help if you have any specific enquiries.

Marco, i'll be quite happy to help upload anything you may have for Wikipedia if you need any help.

As you've previously said, theres not much for the club, so a bit of history will go a long way.

One thing that sticks out in my mind is when Melbourne Victory got drawn into Chonburi's ACL group. Every Ozzie was then drooling for information on Chonburi. At the time, it was dull, but has been brought up to speed since.

Just one word of warning, anything you write can just as easily disappear, so the more references you can supply the better. Not such a huge problem on club pages unless they are abused. But don't expect previous clubs and appearances to be correct or regulary updated.

I tried (along with a couple of Thai insiders) to keep on top of things like that, but its damm hard. And you will find many things in the past are too hard to get in fact, much easier if you start from this season on for statistics (although doesn't show the full picture)

If there is anything you want putting on then i will add it. Generally, i don't edit the club pages nowadays as i haven't got anything else to add really, but as always i'm happy to help and promote the Thai football scene.

Thinking about it, maybe there should be a whole article dedicated to Thai football stadiums and the circus of clubs moving about every year!

Well done Thai Port.

What a difference a year makes. Last year as Port Authority they just escaped the relegation mire with 30 points. This time round they are on 26 already

PAT hosted Bangkok Bank with two games remaining, ending in a 0-0 draw.

The week before PAT drew with Chonburi, practically taking the title out of Chonburis hands.

The last game of the season, well, PAT got drilled 3-1 away to TOT, but Chonburi beat Bangkok Bank for you.,

Generally, the season was neck and neck between these teams, when one lost, both lost, when one looked to pick up a good point, the other one did.

Thanks for the flowers.  Grin

I just want to add a few comments regarding the wiki issues wihtout quoting the posts done before. Even it might be off topic in general.

I had went away from the en wiki more than one year ago, to build up everything related to Thai football, and asian football / leagues from scratch.

I am working very close with an admin from the german wiki, and he is rewarding my work. And even is protecting my articles from deleting. But in the meantime, as I do now have a name in the de Wiki, nobody is paying attention so close to my articles anymore. At the first stage I thought, oh my god, the german wiki is so typical german, high qualitiy articles, a lot of references, everythhing needs to be prooved and so on. But in the meantime I am really happy with that. Cause if I see what is going on in the en, its a mess. Mostly you only talk to BOT's not to people. I can understand this, cause the german wiki is only for Germany, Swiss and Austria, which is only a few million people, compared to the whole world, probaly able to edit in the english wiki. And this makes things very difficult.

Anyway, to catch up informations about thai clubs might be though, espacially if you are not able to read thai like myself. But you always can find informations about thai players in the web. Vietnamese Websites, do have alot of informations about the thai players and coaches. Even you are able to find interviews with valuable informations. Use google to translate, and it works if you are not stupid enough. Even thaifootball has a lot of informations, with the news archive, and all the national teams. The only problem is that the palyers, sometimes are written totally different. This makes it hard to find infos related to only one person.

Personally now, I have a lot of knowledge about Asian and Thaifootball, and turned my interest totally into that away from the rest of the world. The article about http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Chonburi is still my best so far for a this club. You always able to spin thinks around, and many thinks are molre easy, espacially if you had been there once. Or you are able to cought informations beside the web. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pattaya_United and http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Sriracha are also one of these samples.

DF is doing a hell of a job there. Beside that he also have to pay attantion to his private life.

@ Marco, I already saw that you had made some eddits. Cause Taruafc could be only you, I am right?
Could you do me a favour? I saw that you posted the kits there. It isn't what I want. Wink Could please make a picture of the Badge from the kit? I would need it in a good quality and at least 500x500px if not even more. If possible to make with a digital cam, not with a Handycam and upload somewhere? Would be very nice. Cause than I am able to vectorize the logo and exchange it with the small low quality PNG from there. At least for the German wiki. The PNG is to small for using it for vectorizing.

@ SRS, yes, there a lot wholes in the CFC history. Btw, as well as for Sriracha. Shall I send you a PM with my questions?

Edit: I have promised to help DF, after I done my work in the German Wiki. I'll than will transform content of my articles into the en wiki, as well as with my references. It should than makes things easier for DF.

@ marco, I did some edits in the Thai Port article. Means I did some restructure. Espacially the long reference list, would have need a break Wink But you should delete the refs to wiki articles. Cause it makes no sense. Furthermore, one of your pic had a missed license. I added it, and I also uploaded your pics on the wiki commons under the catagorie of Thaifootball, where all my other pics are already. So I will use your pics on my article as well, cause right at the moment I am on an update of the Thai Port article. When I finish my article, of course with the infos from you then, I will rewrite your article. Simply to give you an idea in english, how it could look like.  But don't blame me about my english Wink

It is a problem. Even on our official website, the only statistics you'll find are the league table and the goalscorer's chart. No appearance stats, no disciplinary stats etc. I do my best as far as this is concerned - I've recorded every starting line-up for this season - but I have plenty of gaps to fill in, yellow cards, substitutions etc. Someone once gave me Korat's league history, that is, their finishing position and division for every season since they were founded (1999). So this stuff is all written down somewhere but very difficult to get hold of. Last season's Division 2 website was excellent. It had full disciplinary stats, squad lists, starting line-ups and subs for every match. Unfortunately there isn't an equivalent site for the Regional League.

Unfortunately, I think that your run has come too late to seriously challenge for a top two spot but I'd love it (just love it) if you pipped BKK Gl*ss for third. : )

Third is well within your grasp. I might be getting ahead of myself but, if Chonburi win on Wednesday, we can effectively put an end to any serious chance BKK Gl*ss have of winning the title.

It will be interesting to see how they cope in the coming weeks.

Thai Port 2 Osotspa 1

A great win for Thai Port against 4th place Osotspa @ PAT Stadium. The visitors to the lead in the 6th minute. Thai Port hit back 5 minutes later, Jirawat Makarom scoring his sixth free kick goal of the season. Does anyone know what the TPL record is? Thai Port secured the 3 points in injury time when Pipat Tonkanya bagged his 9th goal of the campaign.

Thai Ports poor away record will come under scrutiny as they face away trips to Navy Rayong and TOT in the next few weeks.

Trouble after the game at the end where there's no stand. Saw the footage on Siam Gila TV this morning.

The number of such incidents does seem to be growing. Quite a worrying trend.

I don't just mean at Thai Port but throughout the leagues.

Compared to what I experienced growing up in the 60's,70's and 80's these incidents are small beer indeed. However, it is rather worrying. As we all know, once the crowd mentality takes over, anything can happen.

Previously, the crowds have been self policing but, as the numbers increase, it will become more and more difficult for people to control. I really hope that it doesn't become a big problem.

I don't think it will ever become a big problem but there is bound to be a slight increase in this sort of thing when there are thousands in the grounds instead of a few hundred as has been the case in the past.
The fact that such a minor incident makes it onto the TV news proves how rare this type of thing still is.

I’ve decided to join the ranks of webmasters/bloggers! My blog will be solely about Thai Port FC, and will have pretty basic style. So far I’ve just gone back through the season and added a little about each match + highlights from all the games. From now on I will try and add snippets of news and stuff like that.

I’ve added links to all the Thai Football websites that I know of. If I missed any out, then let me know and I’ll add a link.

Here is the website address: http://thaiportfc.blogspot.com/

Good luck, Marco. At least you've got plenty of time on your hands Wink

I'll send a load of TPA related stuff as soon as I get the chance. I've uncovered lots of things whilst digging out things for my site - www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifc/ - including a picture of our mate, Joe, signing autographs for eager young TPA fans Smiley

I think all new newbies to Thai football, and at the end of the day we all were, will find the Korat, Chonburi, BKK Glass and Thai Port english sites very informative.

I'm sure that if i was just getting into it now, i would follow one of them teams, simply because the information is there and makes you feel part of the club, rather than a farang trying to translate story to story.

If you just get one more guy interested in Thai Port, then lets face it, your blog was worth doing and if anything, at least its a kind of collection of your memories.

Hope to see plenty more, if i don't comment, don't worry, i'll always be a silent listener at least.

I'm hoping it won't take up too much of my precious time Grin. I don't think Thai Port have any foreign fans (bar me), and I'd estimate that only about 15-20% of the Thai fans can read English, so it's little more then a vanity project really! If it helps anyone find out about the Club then that's an added bonus.

That's what I thought when I started the Korat site. I only really did it to keep my eye in with a bit of writing but since then I've had messages and emails from people from Sweden, France, Italy, England and Germany who have links to Korat and found out about the site independently of this forum.

Cheers DF, you get a mention in my FA Cup 4th Round preview Wink
http://thaiportfc.blogspot.com/2009/09/fa-cup-4th-round-preview.html

When you see other people putting together websites it gives you the confidence to do the same. Like you said, we all know how difficult it was to discover Thai Football (especially SRS, occasionaly he couldnt even find out what day the match was being played  Grin) I know I would have struggled if I hadn't bumped into Nige at Suphachalasai, so like you say if we can guide others in the right direction, then job done!

BTW what Thai team do you support DF?

I don't really have one. If anything, i'm a South of Thailand guy, so i get my support behind Krabi, Surat Thani and Songkhla (and the 7 or so others, except Phuket)

When I 1st got into the thai footy scene though, i followed Chonburi, why? Because they had a website i could read, and some dude sent me the shirt, this was before they won the league, the year of Bkk Uni winning the TPL.

But then, i started to feel like a glory boy, there are so many teams, but i picked the team that won the championship, so i ran you could say (but not to PEA how won the league after!!).

I've flirted with Muang, but again feel like a bit of a glory boy, i've liked BEC, but they are too Arsenal for me to really really like. So at the moment, i aint got a fave in the TPL.

I also had a soft spot for Suphanburi, generally becasue again, when i first got into it, they were one of the few that was not Bangkok based.

But my league champion this year? I'd have to pluck for Muang, just to add something different again. Only a couple of years ago it looked like Chonburi would be the Man Utd of Thailand and win everythign all the time. It really didn't look like they would have any competition as they had plans on and off the field, everyone else never seemed to look long term

"especially SRS, occasionaly he couldnt even find out what day the match was being played"

The words, "They played yesterday" still haunt me. Sad

"BTW what Thai team do you support DF?"

You've opened a can of worms there, Marco. Wink

It all depends on who's topping the league at the right moment of time. This year i've been a Glass Rabbit, a Muang whatsoever and a Chonburi Code Red.

Looks like the love affair with PEA is long over??

I'm hoping it won't take up too much of my precious time Grin. I don't think Thai Port have any foreign fans (bar me), and I'd estimate that only about 15-20% of the Thai fans can read English, so it's little more then a vanity project really! If it helps anyone find out about the Club then that's an added bonus.

That's what I thought when I started the Korat site. I only really did it to keep my eye in with a bit of writing but since then I've had messages and emails from people from Sweden, France, Italy, England and Germany who have links to Korat and found out about the site independently of this forum.

I think you might be right Vinnie. I just got an email from a guy in Nepal, saying he wished that there were English language websites on Thai football when he was in Bkk. I've had quite a bit of interest from a few different places. I'm pleasantly surprised

Marco, you remeber my words a few days ago? it is exactly the same i had mentioned. Smiley
And frankly speaking, it might be exactly what the Thai football was missing over the years. A kind of "spread the word".....not only limited on and in a few thai language websites. We all had made the same expariance over the last years, in what it means to find informations about the league.

met a bunch of Aussie Thai Port fans today, I'm sure your site will come to good use. They have been to a few games and knew the players names and a bit about the league too.

I didn't see lots of the match, I was running around taking photos. It looked like an even match and Police were more then a match for them.
I hope it will be televised at this time or I am in trouble, my source was through a discussion on thailandsusu.com , he confirmed that it will be replayed at 1pm.

The match was on NBT 19 last night, coverage started at 1 am. I was watching it whilst waiting for the England game to come on. You're dead right, nigb; from what I saw Police were at least as good as Thai Port and had a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside. Based on last night's game they should have no trouble surviving in the TPL. Brought a few away fans with them, too.

Ha-ha! It was the first time in a long time. I didn't have to be at work till noon so I thought staying up wouldn't hurt this once. It was a football feast in the early hours, I was flicking between the England, Germany, Bahrain and Thai Port games!
Appalled to see a mexican wave at Wembley and that grown men still do that ridiculous 'EASY-EASY' exagerrated hand-clap. One Croatian fan runs onto the pitch and the cameras do a loving close-up of the arch. How wet is football in England these days?!

@ Marco, looks like your Blog is running well. Just saw your stats. My gongratz. But why I am not able to make any comments? I don't have a Google Account, and it looks like only with a google account I am able to make a comment.

But next year Chang as new sponsor? Again Chang? Do they want to sponsor any team soon?
And just because of Chang, I don't think TP will be shown more often on Siam Keela.

Btw, from where you did get this small kit of TTM in your blog? Are there some more outhere?

I'm not sure what he was like, but i do remember him coming back to the TPL last year, with TOT when the Vietnam league finished.

Now back playing for Dong Thap. Possibly he will join just until the end of the season?

The latest rumour doing the rounds is linking Thai Port with a move for Issawa Singtong "Thai Gattusso" who plays in Vietnam.

I've heard of him, but never seen him play. Is he any good?

http://thaiportfc.blogspot.com/2009/09/latest-rumour-issawa-singtong.html

Singthong is having a Hi5 account. But it's set to private.

Btw, he is still in the squad list of TOT on their website.

I only saw him during Asian Cup 2004 in China. At that time, he was in the starting eleven of Thai Team. Exactly same style of Gattuso. He runs all the time.
Not sure, but i read somewhere that he was at Đồng Tâm Long An F.C in the beginning of 2009. Last year in Thai League second leg, he was playing at TOT FC.

Yes , I also heard the news he played for Đồng Tâm Long An but haven't seen him in the main team . With Sakda Joemdee , he is one of two " Gattuso's " of Thailand U23 in 2003 .  Grin
