Just saw the article. The fines are 133.000 THB and 100.000 THB. A million would be quite a lot ... Smiley

Not to a 'Hi-so' club like BG  Grin

Thanks, I keep getting these Thai numbers mixed up. Fixed.

They certainly weren't in evidence at our first match in the TPL. In fact, they didn't have any fans there that day.

If Thai Port and Bangkok Glass both progress in the Toyota League Cup, will both legs of their meeting in the next round be played behind closed doors of a neutral venue? If so, it doesn't make sense to play 2 legs and might as well make it a one-off game.

Port haven't been banned from playing at home, only BG. Both sets of fans are locked out, though.

So if I go to Thai Port's stadium in a Sunderland shirt, will I be able to get in???

If last weekend is anything to go by you should ask for a half-price ticket as you'll only be there for 45 minutes.

I would speak up in defence of last weekend's abysmal showing at Sid James Park, but there was no defence to speak of ... quite literally.

I was planning to get to a Div 2 game this weekend, but the only games in Bkk are on Saturday while I'm working. I might try blagging my way into Port v BU. Perhaps if I meet you and wear my Wellington Phoenix shirt, we should be able to sneak past security while they p*ss themselves laughing at us. Alternatively, we could tell them we want to watch some decent football for once Wink

I wonder if we'll see a fleet of motorbikes parked on the expressway that overlooks the ground? You get a great view from there.

There's a chain link fence behind the seats on 3 sides of the ground, which I could climb and sit on, whilst peering through the seats. Also, there's an office/apartment building with open balconies, where there's usually a bunch folks watching. I may go join them.

He's been on a study break since the end of the league. His post-final post was his first in 3 weeks, and true to his word, he didn't attend the final. He's probably not checking in and approving comments (or temporarily blocked them) at present.

It would be difficult for him to attend the final as he lives in Liverpool :-)

Having meet and shared a few beers with Thai Port fans three times this year I have found them not to be any problem at all IMHO .I have not witnessed anything from the TP fans that I have not seen from any other TPL supporters.
The worst supporters that i have meet with this season past are Chonburi. The reason behind this is the plain fact that a few idiots who made the trip to the I-Mobile decided to start throwing flares in the crowd. Angry

Given the apparent resentment from a section of Thai Port fans of "Hi-so" clubs like BG and MTU, isn't ironic that their new sponsor is 'Super Rich'.

The sight of the Klong Toey army wearing shirts with 'Super Rich' emblazoned on the front will rank right up there with the Crystal Palace 'Virgin' shirt of 20 years ago.

(I'm not sure if Super Rich are shirt sponsors though)

I wonder what's going on at Thai Port. They've released several players and at this moment in time have only signed Valci Junior. It was the same during the last transfer window when several players exited and the only player coming in was Christian Ayew. Since his arrival I think Ayew's only played about 20 minutes.

Also as a reward for Thai Port's League cup success, they will play Japanese club, Shonan Bellmare at the Supasalasai Stadium on Sunday 13th February. Coincidently the match will take place on the same date as the proposed opening day fixtures of the TPL.

If the FAT calendar is to be believed, it looks like their opening league match will be played on the following Wednesday.

What bothers me about that calendar is the massive gap between the end of the league, and the two cup finals.

Surely things can be arranged so that the 3 competitions finish at approximately the same time?

Or is this a knee-jerk reaction to Bryan Robson's complaint about the FA Cup final being played just before the Suzuki Cup?

Thai Port have signed Scottish winger Steven Robb. The 28 year old has just been released by St Mirren and he had previously played for Dundee and Dundee Utd.
Apparently he was very injury prone in his time at St Mirren.

I'll certainly be interested to see how Steven Robb gets on at Thai Port. I may be mistaken here, but I believe that he is the first Scot to play in the TPL. He has plenty of Scottish Premier League experience so that would suggest that he'll have the skill and ability to cope in the league. However, according to the Scottish newspaper, the Daily Record, he's never been to Asia. After playing in Paisley and Dundee, he'll undoubtedly experience a culture shock when he arrives in Thailand. The heat and the language barrier will pose the biggest problems for him.

It's not really football related I know but it may be of interest anyway:
I went to visit the HDF Mercy Centre in Klong Toi today. It was a very interesting experience  (I recommend it to anyone with a little free time or money to donate) and I took some time to wander around the area a bit. Loads of people in TP shirts, it's obviously a big deal for the locals which probably explains why TP have the noisiest fans.

Was talking with nigb about this not long ago. One of the appealing things about Thai Port (when they're not rioting, of course) is that despite being a "Government" Club, they've got a real 'community' feel to them. Sort of like having a provincial club in the middle of Bangkok.

Let's set the rocord straight here Loko, Thai Port never regard itself as Government Agency. It through identity is government subsidary agency. Enjoy the benefit and bonus greater than goverment workers but if there is a lost in its business, government absorb but bonus continues. Believe me my uncle once the head of this agency. Thai Port however presents itself well and outsiders(fans) perceive it as a nice guy, they did a good job in that department. Great training facilities be cause unlimited funds and of course attractive recruitment packages including fine college prep education (Patum Kongka Wittayalai). PEA also having the same agency indentity status but not as affluence as it deals with rural customers merely above poverish as oppose to import goods clients at Port. I know it's football but different people different feelings.

Thai Port FC take Toyota Premier Cup
Quote
Thai Port FC captured the Toyota Premier Cup after beating the Japanese side, Shonan Bellmare 2-1 at Supachalasai stadium yesterday.

A good crowd was on hand to cheer the Port side and they put pressure on the Japanese team right from the start.

The local side were rewarded for their efforts when the Brazilian, Mario da Silva put them ahead after 15 minutes.

Port kept up the pressure throughout the half but were thwarted by some desperate defending and fine goalkeeping.

The second half got a bit rough with the Japanese side committing many fouls.

Port added to their lead in the 83rd minute when Jacob Aikhionbare scored.

Shonan Bellmare's Kaoru Takayama hit back with a fine late goal but it was not enough and Port were crowned champions of the Toyota Premier Cup.

Meanwhile, in the only Thailand Premier League match yesterday TTM FC Phichit defeated newcomers Chiang Rai United 3-1.
