One question regarding the Chonburi group. Sinthana? Who this will be? I thought that they had merged with Chula a few years ago?

My understanding is that it is Chula Utd but they are using their traditional name for this tournament.

SRS, how is the rule this year for the QC? Will only the group winners advance to the Halffinal? Otherwise it wouldn't make sense, as you reported that the Halffinal will be held at Chonburi/Sriracha? And is the 2010 QC held up due to the initiateive of CFC? Cause the pics I saw from the draw shows "34. Queens Cup by Chonburi FC". So is it an official QC? Sorry to ask, but last season in Germany we had a Supercup which was not officialy backed by the Association.

There seem to be conflicting reports on how the knockout stages will be run. My understanding is that the top two from each group will go through and the quarter finals will be held at Srindhorn on two consecutive days in the week beginning Feb 15th.
The semi finals and the final will be held at Supachalasai on the 21st and 25th. However, from the dates I was given initially, it looked as if the group stages would be on Feb 6/7th and Feb 13/14th. Which is only two rounds of matches - there should be three. My guess is that the third round will take place during the week between those two weekends.
It has been organised by the Chonburi FC management, hence the headline in the pictures you saw.
More when I get it.

Those dates and times are not kind to me. Not sure how long I can go without my next football fix though. I'm getting cold sweats already!

You might have to settle for watching Southampton v Pompey on the box.

I just checked the FAT's wensite, and as there are reports about the draw, and the Cups itself was next to the table, I guess it is officialy backed by the FAT. Means, it will be the usual official Queen's Cup as the years before. I guess this Cup is the biggest I've ever seen. Amazing. Edit: I am not sure whether you saw this PDF already. http://www.fat.or.th/userfiles/QueenCup2010.pdf

Anyone keeping up with the Queens Cup?
Went to watch the two games in Saraburi yesterday and was suitably impressed with the standard not to mention 50 THB entry cost.
Chatted to a few of the players afterwards too, enjoy the open attitude to football here.

I'll be reporting on all Chonburi's group games and quarter final match, and then the semi finals and final on here : www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifcGlad you enjoyed yourself, JF. Are those floodlights working OK now?

Are those floodlights working OK now? Yeah seemed to be fine - wasn't a huge turnout, which was disappointing considering it was a Sunday and there were two games on. You been up to the stadium in Saraburi then?

SRS, there would be a few things I am interested in. And maybe not only me. Further I think you would be able to find that out, as you are probably in Sriracha.
FC Sinthana - where they do play normally? I thought they disappeared after the merger with Chula a few years ago?
Hakka - on Nigb's Site they named as Hakka Sriricha. A Hakka Association of Thailand was thai champ back in 1954. Is it the same or a different organisation?
KTB - BG - Why they are named like this? I though on here as well that KTB had disappeared after BG took them over?
Would appreciate to get a few infos on that.

My understanding Loko, is that KTB can't play pro football, thats wh ythey sold their stake in the TPL to Bangkok Glass last season, but Queen's Cup isn't pro football. Anyone can enter. Just like the FA Cup.
So KTB is like an amauter club, Bangkok Glass also have an amatuer side, or what we could call a works team.
Bangkok Glass and BG FC both come under the BG Sports club umbrella, one pro, one amatuer, but don't ask me what else the amtauer club play in. Bangkok Glass have probably been kind to KTB in letting them keep a sense of history and participate in the Queen's Cup, they did last year. So KTB-BG is really Bangkok Glass but under a different name.
Sinthana, i think this is Chula United as we know them now, but again there playing under the old Sinthana name. Why? Probably tradition. The same goes for Hakka-Sriracha i think.
It's all strange, but you must remember, it's not a tournament hosted by FAT themselves so it's probably also a tournament not recognised by the AFC, so no quarms from AFC dictating what must and what musn't be done.

Well, The cup is the same, and FAT is having it on their website. Further it is called the 34. QC. So in my oppinion it as an offcial QC. For last year, I can understand that there was a KTB-BG squad in the race. Of course their can be a new KTB as company club. But that's exactly wehre my question goes to SRS. Regarding Sinthana, I do have the same thinking. But let's see what SRS is able to report here

yes its an official queens cup, but its not a pro tournament, its an open tournament for anyone, hence ktb
As for ktb reforming, no, they are still representing the old ktb but banks cant play pro football no more.
If anything they are like the harlem globetrotters

This is the current Bangkok Glass team. However, for this tournament, they are trading under the name Krung Thai - BG FC. The shirts they are using, the Bangkok Glass ones with the KTB badge, might be worth something in a few years time.

To be fair, Loko, it's better than nothing. And it possibly means that they'll be televising the latter stages. The final is on Thursday.
