The local cable channel carried a story last night about SFC's proposed new stadium. It all looked very impressive. State of the art facilities, including a synthetic pitch similar to the one at Chulalongkorn University.

I believe an Australian company is heavily involved in the project.

I'll post more when I hear anything.

Yes. It will be their own stadium. So in the next 2/3 years Chonburi province will have three new stadia built for the purposes of playing Thai football league matches.

Chonburi province is certainly the hotbed of Thai league football. Three teams from three different towns in one province and they're all in the league. Most provinces have to make do with one team!

That was the plan the last time I heard anything mentioned about the forthcoming season. I'm also hoping that we'll be able to play our home AFC Cup games at Assumption. It meets the criteria - more or less.

I'm not sure what sort of crowds SriRacha will get. They only managed a couple of hundred for home games during their promotion season last year. Most of those were Chonburi fans (me included) who would go along for some Sunday evening entertainment.

If possible, I'd like them to play all their home games on Sundays again this season. They'd certainly get a few more through the turnstiles if they did.

I think that they now will attract some more people, from Si Racha, while playing in the TPL. At least, if they get notice of it. Means that the marketing plan should fit, if there is one.

Anyway, good news so far Shark, as I do need to make plans for my next holiday. Smiley I need to include AFC Cup, and at least 3 weekends for the TPL and Div 1 maybe.

As of yet there are no signs around the town promoting the football team. Apart from a couple which haven't been taken down from last season!

However, I expect that they will start to appear in the next couple of weeks. The locals need to be made aware that SriRacha FC exist!!

I've been to watch the squad training a few times. I think that they will need to sign some players otherwise they might struggle in their first season in the TPL. Winning promotion was a fantastic achievement but I think that they will find it tough going both on and off the pitch this time around.

Let me know when you've booked your holiday, lokomotive. It will be good to see you again Smiley (I think that your Chonburi/SriRacha/Bang Phra t-shirt may well be worth some money now Wink)

Of course I will let you know. The target is 17 or 18 May till 7 or 8 June. So I hope that they will have the suimmerbreak than. But at least according to the schedule of the AFC, the AFC Group game 6 and the first knockout round should taken place in that time. So I hope for two home games. I will be there with some friends that time, beside my GF of course, so I will bring some new supps to Thaifootball. Smiley

Regarding the shirt, yes I think so. Smiley

I went to watch SriRacha play Thai Port FC (as they now seem to be calling themselves) yesterday afternoon. The game was split into thirds and featured a different starting eleven for each period.

I didn't really learn much from the game other than the multitude of triallists were no better than what SriRacha already have. It will be interesting to see if any of them are signed up.

Thai Port had a couple of decent centre backs - one in the first third and one in the second. And provided most of the entertainment by employing a 'comedy' goalkeeper for 45 minutes Smiley

I left before the end but, for what it's worth, SriRacha were leading 1-0.

Both teams used about 40 players so it was difficult to say if any of the players were already members of the club or just on trial. SriRacha still had a lot of the same players from last season.

I expect that it will be easier to judge the new ones when they play a more formal match. ie two 45 minute halves with limited substitutions etc.

I expect that there'll be quite a few Chonburi fans going along to get behind the home team : )

Things have been VERY quiet on the SriRacha FC front just lately. The new ground doesn't have any stands, there was no pre-season party, there is nothing in the town to advertise the games etc. It's almost as if they've been forgotten.

However, I expect them to go straight back up.

hm, but I saw the pics from the game vs Chula. And it doesn't looked quiet. I even was surprised as the crowed looked very decent.

Anyway, it is really a pity to see clubs not holding their line, when they move down. Like Sriracha.

That may well be the case but there's absolutely no evidence (yet!) in the town to suggest that there is a football team here. They don't even have stands at the ground. Decent pitch though. Wink

It is a shame.

Siracha is trying to buy Hironori Saruta back from BGFC. The plan is to keep the actual squad mainly together, and just ad a few new ones. I think that is a good Idea. Stadium already under re-construction, will then hold up to 4.000 after it's done.

I think Hiro will go, he has been a bit of a disappointment although he hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip. He hardly starts and never gets 2 games in a row. If I was him I'd be very frustrated and he is a confidence player.
I'd be sad to see him go and still think he would have something to offer us if he were given a proper chance, but unless the new manager (who ever it may be) plays him regularly, I'm certain he will be off and I know he still has plenty of friends over in Sriracha.

If he gets a regular game he may well be a good acquisition for SriRacha. But from what I've seen of him at BG, I doubt he'd be a big loss especially if you want to win the league next season.

Sri Racha either retaining 70% of the squad for next season, or 70% done with contracts for the current squad for next season. They are getting/have got 10 Million baht from Chonburi Sports Authority (and Chonburi FC?!?), and another 10M from this year's sponsors. Manager Jeerasak Wanggusol reckons they'll need a further 30M to compete in the TPL.

Siracha players are actually on Koh Samui for vacation. While that it looks like the clubs wasn't sleeping. Valery Sanou will stay with the club and new contracts with Gaston and Diego will be signed when they are back from the island.
