I'll try FBT, I live a 10 minute walk away. I'll get 15 tickets, I'm sure we'll get a gathering for the day and I know of a few people who may be interested too.

Nigb, once I've confirmed my attendance, would it be possible for you to bring along a home shirt of each of the two Ayutthaya teams? There'll be a beer on top of the cost for your trouble.

BTW Roughly how much will the match tickets cost?

t_e.... what do you plan to do with all these shirts, are you making a studio? anyway be sure to get a picture of your collection.
I went to the FBT shop yesterday. They say I need to go to Ticketmaster, which is not too far away. I've got no idea how much they are.
You can get a PEA shirt from FBT next to the stadium on the day, unless you really want me to get one before. I am not sure about Ayutthaya fc shirts, but actually I'd like to get one for myself, I'll look into it. I will be making a trip to Ayutthaya next week so I'll see if they are on sale.

Got the tickets a little while ago. I have 10 tickets for people on the board here. They are 200 each in East level 2. I prefer level 2 to level 1, hope everyone ok with that.

Good work Nig. See you there with my 400 baht I owe you.

Are you going to do your "Now you see me, now I'm on the halfway line interviewing someone!" trick again? :-)

PS If there's any tickets left after the other forum members have made arrangements, I'll take one more for my nipper. If not, I'll get down to ThaiTicket Master and grab one.

NO YELLOW CARDS PLEASE: RADDY
Quote

SINGAPORE (13 Nov 2009) – Singapore head coach Radojko Avramovic has warned his players against picking up any yellow cards ahead of their home clash against Thailand in the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers this Saturday at the National Stadium.

Raddy gave this caution specifically to those players who are already on one yellow card offense and they are Mohd Noh Alam Shah, John Wilkinson, Mustafic Fahrudin and Isa Halim.

“It will make things a lot harder for us should they pick up a second yellow card in the match this Saturday,” said Avramovic.

But while Raddy sounds the warning, he also said that it does not mean that the players will play it defensive and not take any chances in a game which both teams could certainly do with the points.

With the return tie in Bangkok just a few days later, a win in Singapore for either team would put them in a good frame of mind.

And while yellow cards will be of concern, the Serbia-Montenegro native will also have to contend with the several injuries in his squad where for the moment, there are question marks on the availability of Agu Casmir, Shi Jiayi and Ismail Yunos.

“If you just look at the spirit and the determination of the players during training, there’s really nothing to be worried about. But as far as real preparation for such an important game like the Asian Cup qualifiers, then certainly we could have done better,“ added Raddy.

Raddy only had a few days to with all the players to prepare a team strong enough to take on the Thais in what will be a crucial tie at home.

Defender Precious Emuejeraye had just returned from Palembang to finalise his contract with his new club Sriwijaya FC in the Indonesian Super League while for another defender Isa Halim, he could only do light training after receiving an injury while on duty with the Under-23 team for the recent VFF-Smartdoor Cup in Hanoi.

Sengkang Punggol FC striker Indra Sahdan Daud is attending classes at the Singapore Polytechnic in the morning and could only train in the afternoon.

“These are some of the things which we have to contend with in preparation for international matches. But it is nothing new and we are already used to it,” quipped Raddy.

“But whatever the shortcoming, the players have to realise their duty when they are on the pitch. That is important.”

WE ARE CAPABLE OF AN IMPRESSIVE RESULT: ROBSON
Quote

BANGKOK (13 Nov 2009) – Going into his first official competitive match as the head coach of Thailand tomorrow night, Bryan Robson feels confident that they can get the right result against Singapore.

Thailand will take on the Lions in Group E of the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers at the National Stadium in Singapore with the Thais anxious to pick up their first full points after two drawn matches.

"I have studied tapes of Singapore. Although they are a strong side, I think we are capable of getting an impressive result," said Robson.

Prior to the team’s departure to Singapore, the former England captain led Thailand to the Phuket Kata Cup by winning two matches.

The Thais won the four-team friendly tournament in Phuket by beating Myanmar champions Yadanarbon FC 2-0 in the opening match before edging out Vietnam's Hoang Anh Gia Lai 7-6 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at the end of regulation.

And a few days ago, Robson's men drew 1-1 with Syria in a warm-up match at the Thunderdome in Muang Thong Thani.

But while the Thais are confident, they will also be without regular midfielder Phichitphong Cheuichiew - who has been suspended - with Robson now having to call up Sutthim Phukhom as added reinforcement.

Thailand are third in Group E of the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers after two scoreless draws - in Jordan and at home to three-time champions Iran.

The Thais are one point behind Singapore who have one win and one defeat.

Iran lead the group with one win and one draw, while Jordan are bottom with one point.

Only the top two teams from each of the five qualifying groups advance to the 2011 finals in Qatar.

Thailand have not yet found the net in the qualifying campaign and Robson said Teerathep Winothai and Teerasil Dangda will lead the attack against Singapore.

Assistant coach Steve Darby, who had coached Singapore’s Home United previously, said the game against the Lions was an important game and the Thais must try to avoid defeat.

"We must try to get at least a point in such an important game. The right result in Singapore will be crucial to Thailand's campaign," Darby said.

THAILAND

GOALKEEPERS: Kittisak Rawangpa, Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool

DEFENDERS: Suree Sukha, Nataporn Phanrit, Natthaphong Samana, Panupong Wongsa, Kiatprawut Saiwaew, Peter Lang, Rangsan Wiwatchaichoke

MIDFIELDERS: Datsakorn Thonglao, Suchao Nutnum, Sutthinun Pukhom, Therdsak Chaiman, Nirut Surasiang, Sutee Suksomkit, Surat Sukha

STRIKERS: Teerathep Winothai, Teerasil Dangda, Pipat Thonkanya, Anon Sangsanoi

Therdsak Chaiman and Nirut , who nearly ended in Thai team , were called this time ?
And where is Arthit Suthornphit ?
Dunno how can I trust this list ?! Hhmm ...   :Smiley

I know where Darby is coming from but a draw is only a good result if Thailand win on Wednesday. The Thais' travel sickness has been a big factor in their failure to regularly qualify for major competitions. An away win in a qualifying match against decent opposition is years overdue. Three points please.

totally deserved win.

Referee was pretty poor as didn't sent off a Singaporean player for a clear foul (would have been a second yellow) while their 1-3 penalty was absolutely an early Christmas gift.

It was a fantastic game from the thais. The second half had been a real good match up from both teams.

Even the penalty was a gift, I think before there was a handball in the box, and it was not given for singapore.

SIN 1-3 THA - Ex-S.League stars shine for Thais
Quote
SINGAPORE – Bryan Robson made the ideal start in his first competitive match in charge of Thailand as they secured a 3-1 win over Singapore for their first victory in Group E of qualifying for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.

A brace from Sutee Suksomkit and another from Therdsak Chaiman, both of whom spent a number of seasons in Singapore’s S.League with Tampines Rovers and Singapore Armed Forces respectively, handed the Thais the three points while Fahrudin Mustafic scored a penalty for a late consolation for the Lions.

The victory means Thailand leapfrog Singapore in the standings and Robson's side have the chance to put further daylight between the two sides in the return encounter in Bangkok on Wednesday

Robson could not have hoped for a better start when his new charges took the lead in just the 10th minute.

Singapore midfielder Isa Halim handled a shot inside the area following a corner and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. Sutee stepped up confidently to rifle the spot-kick into the back of the net (pictured).

But instead of the game sparking into life after that goal, chances for either side dried up and it was not until shortly after the half-hour mark when Singapore finally registered a shot as John Wilkinson hit an effort high and wide of the target.

Shaiful Esah floated a free kick beyond the left upright in the 42nd minute for the hosts before Surat Sukha fizzed a shot into the side netting just before the break when he had hoped to catch the keeper unawares.

Datsakorn Thonglao struck a sweet effort from 25 yards that goalkeeper Hassan Sunny did well to palm over the bar soon after restart as Thailand began the second half in a similar fashion to that they had the first.

Singapore should have done better soon after though when Wilkinson was sent clear on goal but the midfielder chose to square a pass for Aleksandar Duric when he was better placed to shoot.

The hosts again came close again just after the hour mark when Shahril Ishak played a fine defence-splitting pass to send Duric through but the veteran forward was ushered wide and his cut back into the box was cleared.

But Singapore were dealt a sucker-punch when Thailand scored a second on the counter-attack with 15 minutes remaining.

Suchao Nutnum whipped in a dangerous cross from the left and Therdsak timed his run to perfection to meet the ball with a vicious volley that gave Sunny no chance.
The victory was made certain in the 80th minute when Sutee was sent clear on goal and the striker made no mistake to fire a low shot beyond the goalkeeper.

Thailand's defence was breached for the first time in the qualifiers, however, when a Singapore player was brought down inside the area and Mustafic sent the spot kick into the top corner of the goal with six minutes remaining.

Robson keeps result in perspective

Quote
SINGAPORE – Bryan Robson insists he will not be happy until Thailand have secured their place in Qatar despite winning his first competitive match in charge of the national team in a 3-1 AFC Asian Cup qualifier win over Singapore.

A Sutee Suksomkit brace and a strike from veteran Therdsak Chaiman – both of whom have extensive experience of playing in Singapore for S.League sides Tampines Rovers and Singapore Armed Forces respectively – secured the three points while Fahrudin Mustafic converted a late penalty for the hosts.

The win was Thailand's first in Group E and another victory over Singapore in the return game on Wednesday would leave them well placed to qualify for the Asian Cup.

“It is great to win my first competitive game but my job is to qualify and I need to succeed in that and only then will I be happy,” said former Manchester United and England midfielder Robson.

“This is a good result for us and we must now start preparing for Wednesday. It is important we recover for the next game. It is only half the job done and we need to complete the job.

“I'm only thinking about getting a positive result on Wednesday and I don't want to think further than that.”

Although Thailand scored twice in the second half, Singapore had been the better side for large portions and Robson admitted there is still room for improvement.

“We started the game very well and we kept our shape. It gave us the platform to create chances. That was very pleasing.

“In the second half, we got a little stretched and we were a little fortunate when the ball bounced kindly for us. The second goal was a great move and finish from Therdsak.

"What disappointed me was us losing concentration after playing really well. I do not want the team to lose concentration regardless of the score from now on.”

Singapore coach Radojko Avramovic, meanwhile, admitted he was shocked by the way his side played in the first half and although he was pleased with the improved display in the second period, he is keen for a much better overall performance on Wednesday.

“Next week is another game in Thailand and hopefully the ending will be different,” he said.

“Thailand beat a team that I did not recognise in the first half. How we played in the first half was totally unrecognisable from the team I see in training and in recent matches.

“In the second half we started to play and we had three 100% chances which we should have scored.

“We had some poor individual performances today and overall we found it difficult to break the Thais down. We will try to win over there for sure.”

Surely Singapore desperately need a victory now on Wednesday.

First half Singapore were a joke. They did get a little better in the second half but they were the home team trailing to one of their fiercest rivals, so I don't think Robson should be too concerned with the second half. Maybe the Singaporean fans knew what was coming, which would explain the empty stadium! Really surprised at that. Great support from the Thai fans. Maybe it was the position of the microphones but you could only hear the Thais singing for most of the match.

Your right Vinnie, they do need a win.

But your also right that they were a joke, so what can we expect to see happen in just 4 days?

Singapore aren't going to change from a joke team into a winning team.

A draw for them keeps them in it. A draw leaves them 2 points behind Thailand with 2 games remaining. Both teams play Iran, and i can't see us getting anything from Iran in Tehran. I also can't see Singapore getting anything against them.

This leaves us with Jordan. Singapore have already beaten them and will fancy their chances again (although i doubt they could beat them in Amman).

But if i was the Singapore coach, after getting beat 3-1 on home soil, then you got to shore it up and hope you get one chance to win it. Shore it up, and if you don't concede, you've always got that chance.

Having seen the Iran v Jordan match, I now think it's all still up in the air. Iran were crap for 70 minutes, as they were in Bangkok all the way back in January. They are a shadow of their former World-Cup-Qualifying selves.

I only saw the last twenty minutes (at Phuket airport) but I was really disappointed with the way the players reacted to the penalty decision. It was a blatant foul and certainly in the box. They should just have accepted it and got on with the game. They were three up and cruising at this point. Just think of how they'd have behaved if it had have been crucial.

Agree. I couldn't understand the reaction for what was only a consolation goal. Sinthaweetchai getting booked for time wasting when Thailand had a two-goal advantage was ridiculous (I mean his behaviour was ridiculous, not the booking).

Bad news guys - several family problems have popped up together and I'll not be able to make it.

I'm gutted about that and I' not the 'drop out' type, I assure you.

Nig, I'll PM you mate. Please send me your bank a/c number and I'll transfer the 400 baht to you.

Dale, if I send you my postal address can you send me a copy of the fanzine? I can transfer the money to you or sort you out next time I see you.

Was looking forward to meeting you guys but there's always next time.
