thank god it was good and we won .Pattaya need a result but so do bangkok glass i just hope brazil players play? for pattaya ?im happy watching the gooners destroy pompey sorry for last week : This is one of those games when I wish there was a way that both teams could lose! However, I think that I'd prefer a win for BKK GL*ss. I still don't really think that they are serious title contenders, whereas I'd love Plastic United to get relegated. (Nothing personal, alldo, I just don't like the way your club has entered the league - The same is true for the other lot but I think that they'll get their comeuppance someday : ) )

Yes, amazing finish. That was a routine catch for the Glass keeper but he got clattered by two of his own defenders...must be the referee's fault.

I think it's a case of trying to run before you can walk. If they'd started at the bottom blah, blah, blah. Maybe you should have stuck with Chonburi, alldo. Are you still on for tomorrow?

To read NigB's website in the late evening (European Time) is shocking What a decission by the FAT. Not to penalise Pattaya United, instead penalise Jadet. ..can't find words...

If on the last day of the season a team needs to win to stay up, and their star striker is suspended...They may as well play him, and take the two game touchline ban for the manager

I definitely wrote on here months ago, though I can't find it now, that 'one way or another' Pattaya will stay up. This is a ridiculous decision, even by the FAT's rock-bottom standards. Whenever there's a case where a banned or cup-tied player is used (something which happens relatively regularly in lower non-league divisions) then the offending side are always, always, always either docked points - if it was a league game - or thrown out of the competition if it was a cup game. I'll stick my head out and say that this decision is without precedent in world football. Another dark chapter for the FAT's book of shame.

This was the main topic of conversation pre-match yesterday evening. An awful lot of the Thai Chonburi fans weren't backwards in coming forwards with what their theories were. I still can't believe that this is the punishment handed out. If I was a coach of a TPL team, I'd pick my best 11 players every week, regardless of whether they were suspended or not. I'd be quite happy watching from the stands.

www.thaileaguefootball.com is reporting that the chairman of FIFA is visiting Thailand next month. It would be great if someone could ask him what FIFA considers to be an appropriate punishment for teams that field an ineligible player.

I've just had a quick look around on the internet and found these examples of punishments mentioned by various organisations. The Singapore Inter Church 11 a side League rules state : In the case of any team fielding an unregistered or suspended player in any match the TOC shall accept the opposing team as the Winner by default and award 3 goals and points. From UEFA.com regarding a Futsal tournament : The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has punished Poland for fielding an ineligible player in their UEFA European Futsal Championship qualifying round match against Finland last Thursday. Punishment Barlomie Nawrat took part in the 2-2 draw despite being under a suspension following a red card in a 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifier against Hungary. As a result, Finland have been awarded a 5-0 win by default and the Polish Football Association has been fined €2,000, with Barlomie now suspended for Friday's game against Azerbaijan. From the Superliga 2009 rule book : "Any team that is found guilty of fielding an ineligible player shall forfeit the match in question. Victory and the resultant three points will be awarded to the opposing team as well as the score of 3-0, or greater, depending on the score of the match." And finally from the AFC rule book : Art.72 Ineligibility 1. If a player takes part in an official match despite being ineligible, his team will be sanctioned by forfeiting the match (cf. Art. 32) and paying a minimum fine of USD$4,000. These examples raise the question - What does it say in the FAT rule book? Surely something must be written down to cover this happening. Or are they just making it up as they go along? (You don't need to answer that )

Thanks, Vinnie. I just wanted to illustrate that if such a small organisation can have rules in place to deal with such a problem then surely our glorious FA should be able to!

Old boys in the news Contrasting fortunes for a trio of former Magpie middlemen on Saturday, with Martin Brittain badly injured during Gateshead's game against Hayes and Yeading.
The 24 year-old sustained tibia and fibia fractures at the International Stadium and play was held up until he was taken to hospital by ambulance before the game was abandoned with the score 0-0.
Former Newcastle team mate Jamie McClen meanwhile has surfaced out in Thailand, agreeing a deal that will see him play for Thai Premier League newcomers Pattaya United when their season starts in January 2010.
Finally, the much-travelled Stuart Elliott added another club to his footballing CV, making his debut for Bedlington Terriers in their 4-2 FA Vase win at Esh Winning.
I've just been sent this by a friend. I don't know the source but it looks like it comes from a local paper based in the NE of England.

He made a few first team appearances when Ruud Gullit was manager of Newcastle. Since then he's fallen through the leagues at a rapid rate. According to Wikipedia he was last seen playing for Morpeth Town in the Northern League. I can't see him lasting long in the TPL.

you had forget one important thing, which was mentioned in this article. McClen's knack of earning a two long term contracts despite being a limited footballer led to calls of him being called "the luckiest bugger on tyneside" I guess it says all.

Pictures from my Visit at Pattaya United are now online. You will find pics of the Fanshop, the Nong Prue Pitch and pictures from the new stadium. Or at least from what is build so far. And it isn't much. And if you like to know how the old Bang Phra Stadium looks now, check it out. Pattaya United 2010 Gallery

Work has been clearly stopped since last year August!!
When we have been there, at least to guys did some work on the green, but don't ask me what they really did there. Oh yeah, and a dog watched them while laying on the track.
The last thing I've heard is that they are now wating for the money to be transfered from Chonburi. Not the Club of course.

A few questions on Pattaya:
Are Pattaya carrying on with their ground? If they are, it would be crazy. They only got 1,500 last matchday.
Are they still owned by the German company mentioned a couple of years back?

Pattaya will go on to build the stadium. I am pretty sure. Why? B'cause they will use it for other things as well. I think that the stadium is part Pattaya City's long term strategy. Yes, I saw the 1500, but I got reported 3.000. Whether all these att. figures are correct, I am not sure. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. On the other hand, Pattaya wont have a choice. The are now on school pitch, more or less (the school is just behind the main stand). And there is no other Stadium in Pattaya compared to the likes of Chonburi, Phuket and so on.
Regarding the 2nd question, good point, though. I will pass this question on and come back.

Difficult to say. Cause its Thailand. And don't forget that Khunploem 1 is the chairman of CFC, number 2 is the chairman of PU and no. 3 is the major of Pattaya City ;-) ... not to talk about the father of those 3. So I guess no matter where is giving the money, it will be a win win situation. For the City and the Club.
Regarding the German. It looks like that a German biz man is involved in the Oceans Tower 11 project. Which is the main sponsor of PU.
