Vinnie - very sorry I thought it was you - you have your apology. Most deepest apology in fact. I get a bit upset about the Pattaya thing as you've probably realized.

Jakarta Casual - see you behind the bike sheds at lunch time.

No probs. You're proud of, and want to defend, your adopted town, I can empathise with that.

p.s Nakhon Nowhere send the Dolphins crashing out of the FA Cup Wink

So you were at that match? I talked with a travelling Pattaya fan before the match, pretty sure it wasn't you, though. It was a fairly hefty Scottish bloke that was just about to move to Chiang Mai.

Nope not me. I'm a short arse English guy and I navigate between Bangkok during the week (work) and Pattaya at the weekend. I actually lived in Korat back in the day - I spent a year in Soi Technic - so I'm a lover of Yar Mor and her people (apart from my ex-wife who was completely barking hat stand bitch). Cheers.

Glenn you mentioned a while back you were attending an MTU game with abunch of Belgians. I remember seeing a very mixed looking bunch of farangs and one Thai at that game. One of the farangs was a big guy with some scary tatoos on his elbows, was that your group?

Not sure mate - the group we had had about seven farangs and four Thais. The big guy could have been the good friend of Rene's (don't know his name) - he is gi-normous or it could be Pattaya fan Danny - Danny  isn't that big but sports the tattoos you describe. We were in a box behind the best behaved Ultras in the world of football. If the group were looking a bit out of place then it probably was us - we are used to Nong prue and feel out of our depth when faced with such opulence!!! We were popular with the MT fans though as we were passing out beers to the fans in the terraces.

Thrilling News from the Pattaya Utd website (http://www.pattayautd.com/)

No the coach hasn't resigned or read the riot act to the players after our dreadful run, nope there aren't any ideas on plans for next season.

The thrilling news is: someone has won a toaster and it makes headline news and a photograph on the website.

One of our fans once won a fridge freezer on an away trip in 2006. We had a right job getting it on to the bus. However, it was soon filled with cans of beer (even though it obviously wasn't plugged in) and we had a nice tour of the Chonburi back streets as the coach driver kindly delivered it to the lady's home on our return. At half time in BG's last match v BU, 10 fans were 'randomly' drawn to go to England on an all expenses paid trip to watch Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Dec...

I'd rather have the toaster !!!

but I have completely lost all interest in the whole Premiership nonsense and that includes Everton.

Of course that will probably change if they somehow win something Wink

We're Not Famous!! Just got contacted by a French journo who says he's from a football magazine over there doing an article on Pattaya United. He will be flying out for the game v BEC Tero next weekend. He  will interview a few of us farang Pattaya fans and the players over 3 days. Hope he focuses on the football angle and not just the usual sleaze in the city stuff that most journos do about Pattaya. Never mind its all about getting people interested in our league I suppose. He says he has already spoken to Jeremy Novero which is a positive sign.

Pattaya 1 Bangkok Utd 2 - Really can't be bothered to write a report about another disgraceful performance - they really have given up. Even with this half-hearted effort we still should have scored a hat-full but it wasn't to be and BU broke away and got a last minute goal. Fair play to you United you kept going.

After the match about seventy PTU fans blocked the exit from the field and the Pattaya players remained on the field to avoid running the gantlet. Some of them looked pretty nervous, or maybe it was embarrassment. It was all very polite really - the fans were asking the coach and players what the hell was going on - why the team aren't trying (unless it's Muang Thong), and why they don't seem bothered. The coach decided to completely ignore the protest - asshole. The team aren't fit and aren't motivated anymore. Get Out Tawatchai now.

I actually find that really heartening: fans actually holding the players and coach to account instead of constantly blaming the referee every time their side loses.

Arlindo extended his contract with PU for another year. Ricardhino will stay with the club, and most probably Ludo also extended his contract. But this is not officialy confirmed yet.

All good news - let's hope Arlindo and Ricardinho get a better time away from injury next season. It will be nice to see Ricardinho - I really rate him - he was injured early doors then only played a couple of games before getting the very serious injury. We never saw him fit. I'd heard Ludo was staying from another source however we need to get him some support up front - Pattipol doesn't cut it and Ludo is being man marked every game now. We need a target man to give Ludo the service he thrives on.

For me, get the No 39 from Bangkok Utd the French game - real player from what we saw of him last week. If we get him up front with Ludo hmmmm - don't think he'd be too expensive either.

How about Jeremy Novero our final crippled foreigner - I spoke to him at the MT game and he'd had his operation and though out for this season - I still think he could be an asset for us next year.

All we need now are two major exits; coach Tawatchai - clear off back to Chiang Rai please - however we don't want Jadet back when Chonburi inevitably sack him - another "friend of the ruling family". The other major exit - Santi - another who is close to the powers that be - you poisonous little worm - clear off. Maybe big brother Chonburi need your silky skills and brilliant captaincy.

Easy 3-1 win for Pattaya tonight against Tero - could/should have been 6 or 7. Two goals for Ludo surely confirm him as TPL top scorer. Great effort. He also missed one open goal that would have given him the hat trick. Maybe the action by the fans last week woke them up, maybe Tawatchai got them fired up to keep him his job who knows but they were certainly putting in a lot more effort tonight.

Just one more thing from Sunday's game - when our left back Anucha scored the first goal against Tero he sprinted back to the Loma Rangers stand and even climbed the stand to celebrate with the hardcore rangers - these were the very ones who staged the blockade last week and wouldn't let the players off the field. I find this significant - maybe the players have taken what was said to heart- it was definitely a much better performance. You can see the replay on the Pattaya website - go to the English language version. Smells Like Team Spirit!!

Toyota league Cup - Thai Honda 1 Pattaya United 4 - very comfortable win for the Dolphins who were able to rest a few players and still see off Honda with a minimum of effort. Pattaya scored at the beginning of each half,  Honda really tried to get back in the game in the second half and pulled it back to 2-1 at that stage put Pattaya under some pressure but the Dolphins stepped up a gear and got two more late goals to win 4-1.
I then drove to Chonburi to see Chonburi v Glass. A classy performance from the Glass Rabbits,  the sharks weren't able to handle the pace of Ajayi on the break and Glass thoroughly deserved their victory.

2 matches... good work. Thanks, we played very well but it just goes to show what a bad season we've had when you can see what we are capable of. Ajayi is almost unstoppable when he is on top form.... shame he can't hit the net more often, if only he was partnered up front with Ludo Wink Wink

Sorry my friend Ludo has signed a 2 year extension deal with Pattaya!! Although as always money talks - Rooney anyone!. Apparently he is mates with a  few of the Glass foreign players and there were a lot of rumours flying earlier in the season but it looks like we've now tied him up. It was a tremendous performance from Glass on Wednesday - it seems to me they enjoy a side to come at them like Chonburi did but maybe they find it tougher to break down sides playing a deep set 4-5-1. I am pushing for a big guy up fornt with Ludo next year and really liked the French striker from Bangkok Utd. Congrats on the win!

Maxime has done very well at BU! I don`t expect him to play for us next season. A few teams will propably try to get him, and all clubs have been told they can contact any of our players if they want. BU are cutting the squad from 33 players to 25 next seson.

Pattaya 2 SriSaket 1 - a decent game at Nong Prue in front of a lively crowd. Srisaket bought a large following which is really commendable considering they were already relegated. Pre-match rumours were around in the bar saying that coach Wang (Tawatchai) was going to get the boot and that Muang Thong had come in with crazy money for Anucha and that our left back was going to reluctantly take the money. Pattaya rested Arlindo and Ludo who had picked up a knock and Thana made a rare start up front. Pattaya started well and made several chances early on but the Srisaket goalie was in great form. Pattaya got over confident and started to showboat and Srisaket rocked them by first hitting a post and then scoring on 38 mins. Pattaya finished the half in disarray. At half time there were some large demonstrations in front of the Pattaya dressing room, the majority were protesting in support of Wang which I find incredible. At the start of the second half petitions were coming round to keep him - most farangs were ignored as they were in Thai - good job too as most farangs are incredulous at how poor we've been in the second half of the season. The buck must stop with the coach. Anyway back to the football and Pattaya came out meaning business - the movement off the ball was much better and we equalized on 58 minutes with a goal from Teerawekin who was brilliantly set up by Thana. It was getting murky by now and when they tried to turn on the floodlights they failed, which led to a 30 minute stoppage. cue much merriment, mexican waves and singing of Carabao sings - great fun. This is not the first time this has happened at Nong Prue and it is getting to be an embarrassment - god knows what would have happened had the game been televised.

Once the lights came back on Pattaya continued to dominate and on 72 minutes they took the lead from a free kick on the edge of the box from Santi who played the ball low under the wall. Clever free kick. Pattaya went into cruise mode, took off Athanse and decided to bring on the hapless Premwut. Why didn't Wang bring on Arlindo to help close down the game - because he's clueless that's why. Our shape went and the now all Thai side (we only had one fit foreigner) went to pieces, Srisaket made several good chances including one absolute sitter for Kone who blasted over from 3 yards out, they had another disallowed for offside. Pattaya held on by the skin of their teeth. There were great celebrations as we finished in 6th level on points with the mighty Bangkok Glass. If only Port had nicked a goal! The players did a celebratory walk around to thank the fans - cue more support for Wang. Ludo received great acclaim as the league's top scorer and it all ended fairly positively.

My opinion is that the second half of the season was unacceptable and that Wang must go - he is not a TPL coach. With the Anucha thing - well that's football MT have the money and we don't -sad but true - we are one of the smaller clubs and therefore have to accept when our players move up a level.

glenn, i know your not to happy with the coach, but,  this has actually been a succesful season for them for what you yourself term as a small team. What were the expectations before the season began? They must have been mid table at the most?

With regards to a new coach, who would you want? Personnaly i think it could be up steve darby's street, or even a peter withe, i think this is the way pattaya should go and slighty change tact, but it could be onto a winner

Agree that we need an international coach - Darby/Withe would be ideal!!  I think we've finished where I expected us to finish - remember last year we had a very poor crop of of foreigners. But where honestly would we have been without Ludo this season- he has cropped up with some excellent goals and often turned games in our favour. The first half of the season was excellent but we fell to pieces in the second half of the season once we lost Langley and Novero - we went 12 without a win including cup games - ok we've won the last four but against relatively poor opposition (Chiang Rai/Tero/Honda/Sisaket) but even then only due to the fans giving the players incredible stick. What has shocked me has been the lack of effort in certain games. The foreign players regale us with horror stories of the way they are treated, the lack of discipline, the poor training and there is no smoke without fire. I think we have the nucleus of a good squad but we need a proper coach.

Shark - I don't want to go into this as I don't want to get people into trouble. Remember Langley got kicked out when he complained of the players drinking before a game at Sisaket, Athanase seems very unhappy -  though he is probably used to all this nonsense now - some of the stories I've heard involve passports being held by the club, wage agreements denied and wages/bonuses reduced, waiting ages to get paid. But the main concern as I've said all along is the training which several players have commented on as being way out of date, the Thai players being lazy and long talks by the coach in Thai which the foreigners just sit and ignore. Talk to some of the Pattaya fans who go and watch the training and listen to what they say if you don't believe me.

Expect Coach Tawatchai to join Police for next season and Muang Thong are signing both Santi and Anucha from Pattaya for next season - they've made offers that neither can refuse though insiders say Anucha is still wobbling. I'm sorry to lose Anucha who is a real prospect but delighted that lazy Santi is leaving. He was the one who punched Langley in the face at training and started Langley-gate - he is a poisonous little turd who thought he ran Pattaya. Good riddance to bad rubbish and MT are paying a lot for him as well. Roll on next season!!!

If I've understood the first paragraph of the article on TLO correctly, Anucha is moving.... to Chonburi! Apparently, this means he doesn't have to move house/family etc.

That's correct - apparently he got the same money as MT were offering - however I suppose there won't be a transfer fee as presumably its just between the family.

The season might be over, but don't worry, we now have the Pattaya Challenge Cup to look forward to:

Pattaya play Sriracha tomorrow along with TOT against Chanthaburi.

Anyone know any more on this friendly tournament?

The season never stops!

Spent a couple of nights at The HIlton in Pattaya. On the way back we drove past what looked the be the PU Stadium, however from the very brief glimpse I got it looked quite modern. All I can remember was a logo featuring a single letter (I forget which one) and some PU signs.

Is that a new stadium Glenn or the old one?
Or was I hallucinating?

the latter? If you drive back to BKK you might not see the new or and the old one. Because it is a bit far away from the sukhumvit. And the new one ist still a ruin.

Very true it was a bit of a job to find Pattaya Uniteds ground and if it was not for a group of Chonburi fans who were at the game giving us a lift back to Sukhumvit we would have been well and truly stumped.
I would have thought that Greg would have known that your ground is way off Sukhumvit?

Greg doesn't know Pattaya very well. But he does know Loko's ground is way off from Sukhumvit because Loko is a Sriracha fan. At least, Greg thinks he is.
