In an ideal situation whereby football teams are treated as  franchise of the league, bringing a new team or building its own expansion team, the organiser/owner(s) would have to prove to local government that it has abilities to operate and have local support by submitting required number of residence/tax payers signatures. Local government or potential owner(s) would also have to guarranty qualified venue now or within time frame future. Clubs will have to show list of committed season tickets holder on its reservation list. These are a few of my favorate things.

What a strange topic name this is. I just hope my daughter doesn't bring home a whole football team! Just the star player will do.

haha... I would have used 'Landing A Football Frachise, The Way It Ought To Be' but with the set up of Thailand football leagues it really difficult even to find appropriate name for the topic. I was asked by someone representing a businessman with cash in hands on how to own a team in an area with existing team of special tie to people who can say 'Yes' or 'No'. Obviously, this young businessman is an outsider with the love of the game and certain degrees of affordability. But, in the real World it takes more than just plain cash. Even another Srisaket team, from what I understand, had a step ahead in that it has already received certification and support of local authority they have yet to appear on RL map. But, for the situation of the businessman of the forementioned, if it was me running his football operation, while launching those steps on my original post, I will run periodical introductory youth football clinics with T-Shirts handed out to spread club's name to every districts and it subdivisions.

Well yeah, at this moment of Thai football, i think it would be stupid to buy a team. I think if someone is serious about football then they should start in the RL, of which you could create a new team altogether. People who just want to make a quick fast buck i guess are the ones who jump straight into the TPL.

I'm wondering how hard it is to create a new club outside of Bangkok. It does appear if your in Bangkok you could create a new team but overheads would be much higher, amkes me wonder about the Thong Lor team mentioned previously and why JW Glass kind of sponsor the Rangsit Uni team rather than go at it on their own like Bangkok Glass.

Outside of Bangkok, it does seem that you have to take the province name to achieve anything, you need province backing or your already stumbled as you would need to rent the stadium from the province. I guess having everything in place yourself, so ownign yoru own ground, facilities makes it much easier, but then i guess thats the reason for buying TPL status.

This makes me wonder about that guy who appeared on this forum, asked questions on buying a club, promised to use our expertise and reward us with roles in the club, i'm still waiting my contract!

Regarding the gentleman who asked about buying a club, as you may noticed, I jab him with a hint that I probably know where he would like the team to eventually move to. As far as owning a Club goes, unless you have cash reserve other than initial purchasing price in order to be able to go after quality players, it would be a bad investment. Realistically, it's no different than buying any other businesses the seller will need to convince me that location, term of venue lease and expandable market are worth the investment. Look at TPL teams now, how many of them are on the firm ground to take steps towards making it on the balance sheets. They will soon face reserve teams and academy mandatory. How can they do that, how will they plan on having babies when they don't permanent home? Had the league started with, say, 10 teams with all the owner pitch in initial investment funds and setup the price for each team base on its market values then reassess against its business performance at the end of fiscal year.
