I understand your loyalty Svein and admire it, but IMHO if the club move back to the old ground after re-inventing themselves and clearly implying they will stay the the TJS then personally I would think you had every right to find a new team or at least a second team to support. For most of us loyalty is about locality.

I feel sorry for you guys. I went to the Bangkok University stadium today and it's no wonder you are not keen to go there. I know historically that's where the team originate from but I'd far rather go to the Thai Japanese any day of the week. I reckon the capacity must be less than 1000 and I don't know how they expect to accommodate the anticipated large traveling supports of Buriram, Muang Thong and BG etc. The stadium is tucked at the back of the leafy university campus and there was no chance of getting a taxi outside the stadium after the game. Personally I don't mind a 15 minute walk back to the main road but some people do. It's bad enough not being able to buy a beer outside the stadium but it's even worse when you can't even buy a bottle of water!! It might be better organized when Bkk Utd play there rather than North Central but I doubt I'll be back to find out.

It might be better organized when Bkk Utd play there rather than North Central but I doubt I'll be back to find out. I'm not sure what criteria, if any, the TPL use for ground stadia. Surely they realise it's an issue the AFC are pushing? But, BEC for instance moved out of there home ground due to renovation issues, presumably to upgrade the ground for next season to meet some kind of ground grading issue. The ground itself couldn't have been issued as unsafe as other teams at lower levels have used the stadia this year, including BEC for friendly matchups. They moved to Thephasadin Stadium because of issues, or so they said, when maybe Thephasadin Stadium is a better an easier stadium for the general public to get to. Maybe it was just an excuse to get away from Nong Jork without hurting the fans? Of course, the AFC have been in town recently to grade the league and it does seem the minute they left, Bangkok Utd moved back 'home' to the Uni. Will they use it next year? I don't think they would be allowed if they are in TPL. If Div 1 then yes. And why not. But there is a fair few teams using that field me thinks? Can they stay there forever? No, not if they want to corner the Bangkok market, and it is there for the taking. Next season, if the TPL wants to progress in the eyes of the AFC, they do need some clubs to find homes and stick to them. They are; TOT - Why don't they use there stadia? Seem's fine to me on the pics i've seen. There own website has a booklet that talks about going home. Maybe they will be back there next yera. Lets hope so. Bangkok Utd - If they survive, they need a stadium in Bangkok that won't be used for rallies. Thephasadin Stadium looks fine. You then have Chulalongkorn University Sports Stadium that would suit, and possibly even more. BEC - Why did they move? Was the ground under renovation? If so, why could Raj-Vithi play there? I understand BEC don't attract many fans so surely only a stand would have been renovated at once?

Dru, I am not sure I understand you right, because of my bad english. But the AFC has not been in town yet. They will come beginning next month.

i thought wolfman said they had been in a couple of weeks ago.
Either way, it doesn't look good if you need to explain to the rulemakers why clubs just play where they want when they feel like it.
Saying this, thai football has improved since the afc were last in town so this can only be a good thing

Suwat has denied he wants to move TOT to Korat so it looks like (fingers crossed) TOT will 'go home'. As for Tero, Nong Jork doesn't have floodlights. Isn't that why they moved?

Don't Udon Thani have a big 'TOT' logo on their shirts. If TOT were to move, wouldn't it make more sense (for them) to follow the PEA model and move there?

Well, BKK are certainly trying to fight to keep there TPL status alive.
It seems all change since i said they had no chance, since then, they've moved town, added a new kit and actually got some points.
I would like to see them stay up, but it does seem they have to have championship form to do this, can a team bottom of the league really turn from no hopers to championship style form in a matter of weeks, i simply don't think they can.

Southampton used to do that on a regular basis. West Brom managed it a couple of times, too. But that's all in the alternate reality of English football. Has the great escape ever happened out here?

You tell 'em Svein! Let's talk about BKU's chances of survival. Do they have what it takes?
Today I went to my first game at our new home in Rangsit, and after attending 12 games without seeing Bangkok United win, I was hoping it would be 13 times lucky. It looked that way, but a freekick 3 minutes into injury time ruined the day. We played a good game, we were the overall better team, and we should have won the game, but sadly it ended 1-1. On wednesday we play away to Rayong, and we have to win that game. If we do, we are only 2 points away from safety. If we loose we are practicly relegated, 8 points behind and only 12 to play for. If we play like today in our last 5 games we will surely get a few more points, but only time will tell if it will be enough. Thai Port had 3-4 times more supporters than we had at today`s game, so it don`t look like we`re getting more support at Rangsit than Din Daeng. Bangkok University played in orange shirts before renamed United, and now we have a 3rd kit in that bright colour. It`s on sale now, and will be used in a couple of the remaning league and cupgames, after what I understand. Another sign of moving back to Rangsit for at least one more season? That is a massive game at Rayong. Lose and you're down; win and you've got a decent chance of pulling off the 'impossible'.

I actually fancy you to beat Pattaya at the moment and get 6 points at home.
Bad thing is, that they're other teams above you that will also fancy taking points and they simply don't need as many as you.
Would be amazing to see the side that have been bottom all year suddenlly pull it off.

If away yes - but the game is at Nong Prue so I don't think so somehow - the only side to win at Nong Prue all season has been Chonburi. However in football nothing is impossible. My team Leeds were 4-1 up at home on Wednesday and managed to lose 6-4!! I can see you getting a draw but a win - surely not.

Bangkok United has got 23 points this season. 17 of them comes from games vs the 8 top teams, and only 6 points vs the bottom 7 teams. All our 5 wins is against the top 8 teams. We play another top 8 team, Samut Songkhram, in the last game, so we can end up on a total of 20 points and 6 wins vs the top 8 teams.
18 of our 25 goals came against top 8 teams, only 7 against bottom 7 teams.
We didn`t win any of the 10 games at Thai-Japanese Stadium this season, and we didn`t win any of the 14 games vs the teams we should have beaten. Because of that we`re playing in Divison 1 next season.
Sorry for you guys. It seemed like you had it made: good sponsor, excellent location with potential for lots of farang fans and a good stadium. The team let themselves down.

with all the grounds there is in bkk, do they really need one location for everything?
They could play games at 1 place but training doesn't matter, they can train anywhere.
They have much bigger things to worry than this. They have tried being the team for the whole of bangkok, but its not working, they have to decide to continue this losing fight or go back to as they were, get an area and stick to it.
Saying this, as an outsider, the name Bangkok Utd would be appealing on a first glance, first feel for the TPL, so the name works, but the changing of location doesn't

I had a talk with someone working for the club today. He told me they wants to move back inside Bangkok next season, but the problem is they want a stadium they can use for both league and cupgames, and for training. They can use Thai-Japanese only for leaguegames and some cupgames, but no training. The same for the small stadium between MBK and National Stadium, where BEC has played this season. The stadium at the university can they use for whatever they wants.
Today nobody can say where they will be playing in 2011.
Any news on future plans?

I for one hope that Bangkok Utd make it through these play offs and find a stadium to call their own. I think the stadium Tero used this year would be ideal for them but they need some stability. (I have a soft spot for them though maybe it's between my ears)

Welcome back kerr17. Maybe you can become our regular BU contributor since the last one has apparently left (although I note he logged on just a couple of days ago and has deleted the comments where he stated his intention to never post again). BU have a decent chance of promotion – particularly if the TPL is being expanded again for 2012.

So maybe it was best just to overlook it Vinnie? It might look like nitpicking.

Our new 2011 jersey looks much better compared to last year in my opinion:
Apparently Maxime stood, with the Koreans twins, Romain Gasmi (I really hope he can make the difference as I'm sure Max will do in D1), and with the confirm of former BG players duo Boonsukco and Sawangsri I really hopes we can bounce back right away.........................as our officialwebsite says: A NEW ERA HAS BEGAN (hopefully!)
