MTU 1 Port 0

A whole load of talking points which I'll cover in my report.  There was an incident after the game. Details very vague but it's **possible** a group of TP fans tried to rush the staff exit of the stadium. What I do know thanks to Matt is that there was a huge rush of people and then a stand off involving large numbers of police.

I thought it was funny seeing the people parked upon the expressway trying to watch the game for free. They weren't there for too long as I'm sure they were told to move on by the boys in brown.

Don't know what was going on.  SSTV was not availabe once more here. BUt when I saw that TPFC got a red card, I was pretty sure MTU will win the game by at least 1:0.

Maybe the fans were trying to get at Procureur after this provocative/obscene gesture? I expect better from Mr 'Holier than thou'. He could have caused another Heysel :Smiley.

If that is a genuine photo then it's completely uncalled for on Robert's part. However I and most of the small group of MTU fans in the North stand spent most of the game getting middle fingers, shouts of "gui" and "I-hear" from a group of Port fans as well as well as other forms of provocation and much of that abuse was directed at the players and the ref, too but we kept completely calm so it's still "six of one", etc. I stress it was only a group and not the majority of TP fans.

Also, Rob's bench is the further one from our stand so you'd need very good eyesight to even see Rob's finger going up! At the end of the game fans had their usual love-fest with each other so it's sad to hear of trouble and hopefully it was very minor.

I'm pretty confident no shots were fired!
Marco, I don't think your view is balanced concerning Robert but I won't delve into it for the risk of dragging up the old Kor Royal debate again. How do you know he was gesturing to fans? As I've said, I'd be very surprised if any of them could see the middle finger raised from the further dug out.

Thai Port fans made a tremendous noise, Thai Port played very well. The sending off may have been harsh but I think we just about edged the game and deserved the win.

Possibly a gesture to the Thai Port bench rather than the fans? He certainly seems to be looking in that direction.

That's a bit harsh. Wink However, it would be nice to hear a formal apology from M. Procuruer (sp). As Thai Port Fan says, he's always quick to criticise others so this is the least he could do.

I don't know who the recipients were intended to be. If it was the Port fans then some of them had already greeted him with the same gesture but of course two wrongs don't make a right. Rob doesn't hide his feelings towards Thai Port but from the translated article I read I think Rob does accept the penalty and did apologise so he may well have included the recipients in that apology.

I paid my first visit to Muangthong's stadium for the Thailand - Singapore the other day. Nice set up there, but I can't help feeling that I'm leaning more towards supporting Thai Port or Bangkok Glass. Living close to Central Ladprao/Major Ratchayothin the closest grounds are actually The Army and Bangkok United - both of whom are uninspiring. Therefore, there's not much in it for me when travelling between here and either Thai Port, Bangkok Glass or Muangthong.

Can't help feeling that Muangthong are becoming the Thai equivalent of Manchester United, so that is reason enough to cheer whoever they play against Smiley

Supporting Thai Port would certainly be an adventure. That lot are loud and in your face. You may have problems getting tickets for BG as their stadium isn't big enough to house all their fans.

I think you're being a little harsh on BKU. They may be playing struggling but they have a modern set up, big sponsors and when we played them, they at least tried to play attacking football.
If you go with Thai Port you can buy match tickets at the 7/11

Fair points Englishman, although I think BG will rarely sell out unless they have a big surge in support. Maybe in games against the teams with big travelling support - Chonburi, Muangthong, Thai Port and Buriram tickets more tickets would be snapped up, but hard to see many of their games selling out if the capacity is 9,000.

Having been in with the Thai Port fans at a home and away game, I'd echo your thoughts that they make plenty of noise. They're certainly up for the games and generate a great atmosphere, despite a lack of great football at times. Good fun being at their games.

As for Bangkok United ... a couple of recent wins, but basically still doomed.

Have you thought about supporting PEA? There are plenty of "incentives" on offer. Allegedly. Wink

PEA? Well, there's plenty of money being pumped in there and with Leicester City being bought out by a Thai consortium linked to King Power there is an outside chance we'll see Leicester City playing against PEA or a Thai League XI next pre-season.

Not sure that I fancy the 'home' games up in Buriram, but away games in Bangkok would be doable!

He must have left after the second goal. MT scored it in about the 88th minute. The 3rd goal was scored in injury time.

You'd expect a professional journalist to be a bit more cautious about their reporting though.

I just read the article in the Bangkok Post. It's bad journalism especially when the article was published 4 hours after the game.

In addition, I can't believe that there was no mention of Datsakorn smashing the ball into the top corner from 30 yards out to break the deadlock. That has to be a serious contender for goal of the month.

I didn't use to like the state teams either but I've developed a soft spot for the Army. This season they've come across as the plucky little underdogs trying to hold their own against the marketing machines of some of the bigger clubs. Army staying up would be a much bigger achievement than Bangkok United staying up.
If I lived in Bangkok and had to choose a team it would be Bangkok FC, Rajpracha or the Army.

He was very good tonight, apart from when his wooden legs collapsed under his straw frame. Very good first touch and good turn of pace. He was the standout player for me tonight ... but the bunnies should have got something out of the game.

As I wanted to know when MTU lost at home for the last time, I checked some stats.  And according to this, we may have to wait until next year to see MTU's nemesis beat them at home for the first time in 3 years.
