I hope that you've ordered plenty of extra pies for tomorrow  Wink. Because, in spite of the ridiculous scheduling, there will be a sizeable away following.

We are all looking forward to the game. It should be very entertaining.

We have a good record at BEC's ground. We have won 1-0 and 2-1 on our TPL visits so I don't think we have anything to be afraid of.

It should be a close game tomorrow but I predict a 2-1 win for Chonburi. Off the field things won't be so close as Chonburi fans will easily outnumber the home support. Again!!! Smiley Wink

The FAT just don't learn, do they? The biggest game of the season so far, two well supported teams, particularly Chonburi, and the kick-off is 16:00 on a Wednesday! This should be a Saturday or Sunday game and if it has to be mid-week it should kick-off at 19:00 at the earliest.

Vinnie, in an ideal world that would be the case. However, this is FATWorld!!

There are no floodlights at BEC Tero's ground so that rules out an evening kick off. That said, you may be interested to know that the ridiculous k.o. time didn't deter the Chonburi fans from travelling. There were hundreds of us!! I don't think much work was done in the province today Wink

More of a report to follow on the Chonburi thread later.

And there isn't a roof on their one and only stand, either.

There's still a lot I don't know about Thai league football but I'm astonished that in this day and age there are football grounds hosting top fight professional football that don't have floodlights. Lack of a roof is very bad too. As the weather in Thailand is either incrdibly hot or incredibly rainy, cover must be provided for spectators. The more I hear the more I'm convinced that the AFC made the right decision when they stripped the TPL of an automatic Champions League place.
Can't Arsenal buy BEC some floodlights?  Wink

Yeah, I believe infrastructure is one main area for clubs to enter the ACL.  Let's hope FAT do something it.  But then again, these things require $$$.

I would be interested to learn just how much money Arsenal pump into their deal with BEC Tero. The facilities at Nong Jork are very basic and not really the state of the art things you would expect to see at a centre which has such a big reputation. One uncovered stand and no floodlights says it all really!!

Though they do have a very nice team bus Wink

Most provincial grounds have at least one covered stand and floodlights. It's really not acceptable for one of Thailand's leading clubs to not have these things; particlarly one that is affiliated with an English Premier League club.

Nice to see goalpostgate continue.

Tawan Sripan will not only be assistant coach of Peter Reid. He will also be assistant at BEC Tero.
Christophe will stay as head coach.
Now, we are looking for some news players to be a competitive team.
We are actually talking with Kanoeng Buransuk n°10 foward of Samut Songkhram FC and Suriya Domtaisong n°16 forward of Bangkok Univeristy and Thailand national team.
The biggest news is that Suree Sukha may join us!

NEW BEC TERO PLAYERS

PANAI KONGPRAPAN, MF/FW from Nakhon Pathom (TPL). He is a former BEC Tero player.

THANONGSAK PROMDAD, MR/FW from Rajvithi (Division 1). Top scorer in 2008 (18 goals), tall player (185cm).

SANTI CHAIYAPHUAK, DL/ML from Tampines Rovers (S-League).

About Suree Sukha, it will be between BEC Tero and Chonburi. Not sure.

I wonder what the future holds for BEC Tero? For so long they were considered a big club but now they seem to be getting left behind both on and off the field by a number of others.

In previous years I've considered them to be our biggest rivals but this is no longer the case. However, I do wish them well.

As our next fixture is against them I'll be able to judge pretty much where they're at. Interesting times ahead.

The stadium is certainly a problem. And not just its location. It only has one "stand", with no shade, and no floodlights.

I guess that they'll be asking themselves if they need to improve their facilities or relocate. If they do move, I hope that they stay in the same area. Maybe just a few kms closer to the city.

I also hope that they take their cd collection with them. Last season we were treated to the "Summer Holiday" (Cliff Richard and the Shadows) soundtrack in its entirety prior to kick off. A very strange experience.

I don't think that BEC will grow out of the league. But they will be one of a few "big clubs" in future. And not the only one, or the only one beside Chonburi.

BEC are very similiar to their big brothers Arsenal at the moment.

Always around the top, but just not got enough in them.

It will be interesting to see how Sripan does at the helm, but will he have long?

They seem to change coach every season.

Are BEC playing PEA this weekend or has it been moved to a later date?

I believe they are expected in Hong Kong this weekend to play TSW Pegasus for the TSW Pegasus Invitational Cup.

If they are, why do FAT let them go during the season?

Great credit should go to Tawan Sripan for getting BEC Tero's season back on track. In their last 8 league games they have taken 22 points from the last 24 available (won 7 drawn 1).

They look a very good bet for 3rd spot, and are still in the FA Cup.

I posted this in my match report after we played them a few weeks ago.

"Finally, on to Tero themselves. I've posted on another thread that they'll have to do some serious thinking if they're not to get left behind. Their home support doesn't seem to have grown and their ground falls far short of some of the other stadiums that are currently being used or being built.

On the playing front, there were certainly signs that Tawan can turn things round and lead them to a top four finish. Whether they can still attract the big names remains to be seen."

I posted something similar about Chula last season after Zico turned their fortunes around. I wonder what happened to him?

Hi all BEC fans,

How much does the BEC Tero Sasana jersey cost? Full original Nike kit plus prints & TPL badge. Where can I buy them?

Checking out the price, might be interested to purchase this on my trip to Bkk Tongue

BEC Tero Nike Original is not in sale officially. You have to ask P'Golf (Bubet Suppipat), the guy who works for BEC Tero merchandising for orders. I remember i buy mine less than 3000B for shirt+patch+name.

How does everyone see this club going?

Up until this year, they have always, in my eyes, been the kind of playboy club of Thai football, being able to splash a bit of cash around to bring in some fancy talent and always amongest the favorites for the title.

As other clubs seem to be getting more of a fan base, BEC seem to be going stale and can't get any more fans through the turnstiles, why is this?

Even their football kind of went stale earlier this season, but just lately it's turned around.

Do they have any plans off the field to reign in the fans of Nong Chok, all other clubs seem to be moving in a forward direction, but if anything, BEC are just sitting still.

Years ago, they were the forward thinkers, but now they seem stuck and clueless. Seem's they have no more goals to aim for??

Siam Sport is reporting on some possible price increase at BEC Tero that would make them more expensive than other clubs, but I can't make out if the increase is in ticket prices or replica shirt sales. I think it's the latter and would be the result of negotiations with Arsenal, as BEC are currently forbidden to sell replica shirts.
That ban strikes me as counterproductive for Tero, Emirates and Arsenal. Rajpracha have a similar deal with Everton and shirts were on sale at the last game for 100 baht each and sold very well. Everyone's a winner!

Promphong Kransamrung - Korat's goal machine - is apparently moving to Tero. Having scored 26 goals in 23 matches (including a double hat-trick, a four goal haul and two regular hat-tricks) it's not a big surprise. Good luck Prommers and I hope to see you in a national team jersey before too long.

Tero finally expanding their 'stadium' www.thaileaguefootball.com Now all they need are some fans!  Cheesy
How about dragging the ground into the 20th century by putting up some floodlights?
It's good news, though. This development presumably means that plans to move to Korat have been shelved.

It reminds me of the old music hall joke about Oldham increasing the capacity at Boundary Park. A new sofa is being installed. B'dum, tssch!

Good point about the floodlights. Surely this should be more of a priority for them?
