I broadly agree. I think it's good that the FAT are casting a wide net to find talent (although developing talent here in Thailand is, of course, the priority) but, like you say, this was surely not task for Worawi. 'Junket' comes to mind.

Yes, developing local talent has to be the priority, but if you can bolster the national team by unearthing some halfling playing in a big league elsewhere (and there must be some doing something besides making sh*tty pop music/TV shows), by all means, do it. It gives the young Thai players a model to aspire to, and hopefully a national team getting results.

As we all know Worawi, more or less, I think it is an easy for us to guess, that this is simply politics. I agree with you all, that it shouldn't be Worawi's Job.

bon-nirnam, hell, where you have been all the time?
Hi There, Loko..... After a long football season + futsal season and watching strange WC, I decided to stay in the woods by the mountain in Norhtern California to listen to the sounds of birds singing and water rushing down the creek. Just rolled down the hills to civilization for another to kids football season a couple of weeks go. By the way, did you notice the Niners' first win of the season? Which win? I watched all games so far, except the MNF v Saints. However, welcome back in civilization

Regarding the plan for FAT to meet with a 17 years old player abroad, all I can say is, "They don't call him 'FAT's head' for nothing!"

China 1-1 Thailand Zibo: China finished top of Group A at the AFC U-19 Championship after Zhu Jianrong's second-half equaliser secured a 1-1 draw with Thailand at Zibo Sports Centre.
Pattana Sokjoho had put Thailand in front after 35 minutes with their first goal of the tournament but Zhu's header 13 minutes from the end ensured the spoils were shared.
Both sides found opportunities hard to come by during the opening 30 minutes with China restricted to long shots and Thailand looking to hit the hosts on the break.
Zhang Xihe saw a drive from the edge of the box denied by the legs of keeper Ukrit Wongmeema in the 26th minute before nine minutes later, Thailand took the lead.
Pattana's surging run into the box looked to have been ended by a crowd of Chinese defenders but the ball broke to the forward and he slotted past keeper Teng Shangkun from seven yards.
Li Zhilang and Peng Xinli both fired harmlessly over the top as Thailand went in at the break in the ascendency.
They had a good chance to level two minutes into the second period when Wu Lei met Li Lei's cross from the left but the substitute guided his side-foot volley over the bar.
Ponlachai Hongthong's curling free-kick was pushed around the post by Teng low to his left shortly afterwards before the midfielder fired a lay-off straight at the China keeper in the 64th minute when well placed.
Nine minutes later, Zhu cut inside but saw a left-footed effort from the edge of the box drift just over the bar before the forward equalised in the 77th minute.
Shi Ke embarked on a driving run and shaped to shoot before slipping in Peng down the right. He reached the byline, stood up a cross towards the far post and Zhu out-jumped a defender to head home from close range.
China continued to press Thailand back and only a desperate clearance prevented them from going in front following some trickery in the box from Liu Bin Bin that saw him wriggle past three defenders.
Apisit Khamwang saw a free-kick drift wide for the Thais and the defender then almost snatched a dramatic late winner in stoppage time but his 20-yard free-kick hit the underside of the bar and bounced out.

I am not sure if you have access to news development on this side as we did on Thai language side of the board.
Earlier this year, when head coach and team manager* *a team manager in Thai Football is a chap with tons of money who love football....... blindedly.
Early on this year, the team manager then issued his announcement at the press conference that he would seek the help of Bangkok Glass coaching expertise. Furthermore, he also announced that the team would hold training camp for a month in England around May so that players get familiarize with cold weather in England in which he described as being similar to that of Zibo, China during this competition.
Nobody knows what actually happen to those lavish plans up to a few days prior to the tournament.
At the end of last month as the team getting ready to leave the Kingdom for China, the team manager was quoted of expressing his concern that uniforms ordered from Singapore hasn't arrived. He, also, said the he has requested that the sponsor provides Jackets for players but he wasn't sure if they will receive them(at all). We all know jackets are 'required item. not just an 'also' for Thai players.
The coach meanwhile expresses his concern over lack of training time and most importantly for his players to miss an opportunity to practice on the actual pitch as they will still be in Thailand on the date their practice was scheduled.
If I run a an Interscholastic Football Team for a grade school this way, they're sure to fry my 'Oshiri'.
How is it then that Thailand U19 did what they did and expect any better reasult?

We've missed a few results since Thailand crashed out, but here are the QF results:
China 0-2 DPR Korea Japan 2-3 Korea Rep. Australia 4-2 UAE (aet) Uzbekistan 1-2 Saudi Arabia (aet)
Semis will be on the 14th: DPR Korea v Korea Rep. Saudi Arabia v Australia
It appears that by making the semis, all 4 teams have qualified for the U-20 World Cup next year in Colombia.

North Korea is amazing considering their limited resources
Perhaps, limited access to rice, electricity, cell phone, karaoke bar, K-pop, K-Darma J-pop, J-AV, Som-Tum and Tomyum-koong help football development.

Actually, I suspect that if you're an elite athlete, you'd have a bit more access to most of that list than the average North Korean. Success at sports is great for stirring up nationalism and patriotism, and for providing escapism for the impoverished masses.

I see it as Korea, Japan and Thailand 1 2 and 3 in that order. Unless FAT seeing it a sure thing disappointment maybe in order here. Japan at this lelvel is a mile or two behinds Korea and we can definitely give them a run for there money. Managing the 'Mental Game' when facing away is our weakness. Showing a mere sign of weakness and either Korea and Japan will jump all over us. Jumping all over opponents or the lack there of is also our weekness.

You meaned Japanese young football is worse than Korea's Yes, the performance and the results have indicated so both at the continental youth championship and at the youth World Cup. However, japanese are having a better infrastructure for the future as Fukushima Academy grads are making to National team about 5 years ahead of JFA goal. The JFA-Fukushima Academy began in 2006 and projected that 3-4 players will make National team in 2016. Both girls and boys are already amount to 3-4 players each from 40 players of Jujior High School age selected. Also, Japan often did not allow top youth players from the club to participate in Youth competition during domestic league competition.

I suppose being optimistic is a given right for a fan and a supporter. This what sports in general have to offer and often at no cost(or was it at our own risks?) It provides hope and the thrill of victory as well as the agony of defeat. Either ways, there will always be hope before, during and after each game. Cheers!

Thitiphan on target as Thais edge opener Bangkok: Thitiphan Puanjang was Thailand's hero as the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship qualifying Group E hosts began their campaign with a 1-0 win over 11-time champions Korea Republic on Monday.
Thitiphan, who was on target in the penalty shootout win over Vietnam as Thailand warmed up nicely for the qualifiers with victory in the AFF U-19 Championship in September, scored the only goal of the game with the Suphanaburi midfielder settling the contest at the Debhatsadin Stadium in the 57th minute.

Two out of two for Thais Bangkok: Thailand recorded their second successive 1-0 victory on Wednesday when the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship Group E qualifying hosts edged Chinese Taipei.
The match at the Debhatsadin Stadium appeared to be heading towards a goalless draw until second-half substitute Pakorn Panrmpak a 65th minute replacement for Jaturong Pimkoon, settled the contest with ten minutes left to play.

Tie takes Thais through to finals Bangkok: Thailand ensured that they claimed one of two places at the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship from the Group G qualifiers when they held Japan to goalless draw in Monday's top-of-the-table clash.
The stalemate at the Debhatsadin Stadium, Thailand's last qualifying match of the campaign took the Group G hosts' points tally to ten following 1-0 wins over Korea Republic and Chinese Taipei and a 13-0 hammering of Guam while Japan are three points behind having played a game less than the Thais.
The Koreans kept in the hunt for a top-two finish with an emphatic 6-0 win over Chinese Taipei to sit one point behind the Japanese with the two East Asian giants meeting in the final round of qualifying matches on Thursday.
Needing all three points to stay within touching distance of Japan and Thailand in the three-horse race for a ticket to next year's tournament proper the Koreans went about their task with ruthless efficiency and had raced to a two-goal lead in the first five minutes, with Seong Bong-jae opening the scoring in the 2nd minute and Moon Chang-jin doubling the advantage three minutes later.
Chinese Taipei rallied after that and restricted the scoring to just the two goals going into the half-time break but just five minutes after the restart the Koreans took firm control of the match and found the net three times in a blistering six-minute spell.
Heo Yong-joon made it 3-0 in the 50th minute and after Seong got his second 60 seconds later Moon completed his double in the 56th minute with Korea Republic's fifth. Not to be outdone by his team-mates Heo also bagged his brace, rounding off the victory three minutes from full time.
