Will this go the same way as the Oman friendly? I heard Zimbabwe were playing Malaysia on the 30th.

Zimbabwe played in the region earlier this year and were represented by a club side. Same may well happen again, it's actually possible for Zimbabwe to play twice in one day in two countries!!

FIFA are probably still in bed.

If not 'A' internationals, then they won't include them.

It is possible that the Malaysia match could be cancelled or postponed.

What kind of Zimbabwe team can go on less than a week notice to Asia ?

Zimbabwe news :

Rushwaya also said the national team would not be travelling to Thailand for a friendly match scheduled for Tuesday which the Asian country had requested as part of its preparations for the Asian Cup championship.

“We indicated to our Thai counterparts that we would not be able to put a team together for the tie due to the Christmas holidays. But we have a number of other friendly matches lined up and several teams have sent in requests to play us,” she said.

Its time for change and they FAT should realy bring in some pro people. But I believe that this can't happen,  unless there will be some changes in the Thai culture. Look at all those people at the FAT boards and councils. If you are not in an old-boy network (I hope this translation is correct) an politician, a Pol. Gen, or Army General, you wouldnt had any chance to get in there and make changes happen. Even all those Teammanagers swiring around, smelling like old-boy network. There is not any technical director I can see in the FAT.

Yes, it all needs a change right from the top.

The simple thing FAT does wrong is that it constantly makes announcments before anything is ever concrete. We have had England, Oman, Zimbabwe, all big mistakes. Yet FAT seem to think people don't look outside of the box for information.

Recently, Oman were coming, a quick google search in english or thai, would have brought you a result that they were schedule to play Singapore. They didn't cancel on FAT at the last minute, as they were never coming anyway. In fact they never cancelled,  because they never were invited.

Zimbabwe, as Jonny said, how can they get a team to Asia in a week? I know some rather poor nations scramble a team, but even if they do turn up, it will be a hell of a poor Zimbabwe team. Again, a quick search will tell us that Zimbabwe are represented by clubsides most of the time anyway. This is what will happen on 29.

But what thai football has to learn about the most is. Don't invite teams representing a nation just to get a quick fix victory. Invite the real thing, don't be afraid to get defeated. It's pointless inviting a team that will call themselves Zimbabwe, beat them soundly (if this happens) as the fickle fans will then believe we are world beaters.

It's time, and i've said this before, to get serious and get some Middle Eastern tours going. Scrap the pointless Super Cup and have a proper tour around the Mid East facing decent clubsides (Al Ain of UAE, Al Sadd of Qatar or whomever) and start to make some ground.

We have shown in the past, that we can mix it home, but we normally get undone in the desert. Time to start learning.

I think the point regarding the friendlies dont lay in the in the cancelations, or that they could never realy happen. The point on this for me is, that the FAT knows the, at least, one year ahead the AFC/FIFA calendar. This means, they should be able to fix friendlies already at least a half year ahead. and not just a few days, stumbling in from embarrassment to an another.

Germany recently made a contract with the Argentine FA about two friendlys. One will takle place next year in spring (even it's in Munich, I am not able to afford the tickets), and, watch out, fixed another one TWO YEARS LATER!!! Thats the point whre the FAT should be critcized on regarding the friendlies.

Yeah, but lets face it, who wants to arrange a friendly will in advance against such a strong nation as Thailand? No half decent nation would do that with Thailand.

Back onto the point of Zimbabwe, this is a nation thta hasn't even qualified for the African Nations Cup - so what test would this be? They're are 16 nations in it, all looking for friendlies, generally tournaments in the Mid East right now to get some practice in. If FAT had better contacts then we could be mixing it with half decent nations right now.

Syria reporting that they are going to Malaysia and will play Malaysia on 30 th and Zimbabwe on 1st . It seems that that a Zimbabwe "NT" will be going to Asia despite reports from Zimbabwe media about the opposite.

Meanwhile Rushwaya confirmed the Warriors left the country on Sunday for a tour of the Far East which will take senior national soccer team to Malaysia and Thailand where they will feature in friendly matches against the local national sides.

The Warriors were promised the trip by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) after winning the regional COSAFA tournament.

Assistant coach, Joey Antipas is in charge of the squad which features most of the COSAFA Cup winning squad.

Suttinun double lifts Thailand
Robson demands improvement up front
Quote

Defender Suttinun Phukhom scored twice as Thailand beat Zimbabwe 3-0 in a friendly at the Thai-Japan stadium yesterday.

Substitute forward Kirati Keowsombat hit home the other goal but Thailand coach Bryan Robson was frustrated by his strikers' lack of sharpness.

"Zimbabwe tried to defend and we had to be patient and wait for scoring chances," said Robson.

"Our defence played well but our passing must be more accurate against Jordan."

The game was part of Thailand's preparations for their Asian Cup qualifier against Jordan at Rajamangala National Stadium on Jan 6.

Suttinan opened the scoring for the home side after 27 minutes but the Thais had to wait until the final nine minutes to get two more goals.

The match was lively in the opening stages with both sides carving out scoring chances.

Veteran midfielder Therdsak Chaiman saw his long-range shot go over the bar early on while Thailand's defence had to clear a Benjamin Marere shot from the line.

Although Zimbabwe arrived in Bangkok on Monday, they looked strong with five players from their World Cup qualifying squad included.

Suttinun broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when he connected a cross from Natthaphong Samana.

In the 34th minute, striker Teerathep Winothai intercepted a poor pass but failed to score.

After squandering numerous chances, the Thais got their second goal in the 81st minute thanks to a Suttinun's long-rage drive.

Kirati, who came on for Teerathep, found the back of the net after 84 minutes.

Robosn said his four strikers were good but he wants Teerasil Dangda, who is nursing an injury, to come back to help the team.

The former England skipper will leave for China today to watch Jordan play China in Beijing.

All part of RP's master plan, get Thailand an international game and then pull out all his Muang players deal. Afterall, they do run the national team don't they?

Seriously, very bemusing, can't see any reason why Thailand would need such a game like this unless it was an age related Thai team building up for the Asian Games or Olympic Qualifiers.

Whilst posting on this thread, if my memory serves me right, 2014 World Cup qualifiers start in October, time for Thailand to start preparing. Any one know other other friendlies other than the India match in September?

Thailand - Singapore friendly match
Quote
Thailand will play a friendly against Singapore in Bangkok on August 11, but an earlier match against Bahrain has been cancelled, president of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), Worawi Makudi said yesterday.

Worawi said the Bahrain match was cancelled because it clashed with the Thailand Premier League.

In the build up to the Guangzhao Asian Games in November, Thailand will also play two matches against India.

Worawi said Malaysia, Singapore and Qatar were likely to be invited for a pre-Asian Games tournament in Bangkok.

Thailand's head coach Bryan Robson is currently on vacation in England. He is scheduled to return to Bangkok next month.

Worawi said there are plans to send former Thailand international, Tawan Sripan to Barcelona to study the coaching methods and training of the Spanish giants

The match was pretty much unwatchable on the tele. There were ad breaks every minute or so. I thought those days were long gone. Sad

Thailand Edge Singapore 1-0
Quote

A single goal from Sarayoot Chaikamdee has given Bryan Robson's Thailand a 1-0 win over Singapore in their international friendly at Yamaha Stadium.

Robson was without the likes of Suree Sukha, Natthaphong Samana, Panupong Wongsa and Pipat Tonkanya, with the match being used to build up to the Asian Games and Suzuki Cup later this year after Thailand missed out on a place at the 2011 Asian Cup in Qatar.

Radojko Avramovic's Singapore suffered a similar fate in their bid to qualify for Qatar and were beaten by their opponents here by the same scoreline that they were at the King's Cup earlier this year.
