Why on earth did Bangpra let him go on loan for the rest of the season? Surely they need him to do a job for themselves?

Article from www.bangkokpost.com - big sponsorship boost.

Thailand Premier League champions Chonburi FC received a huge financial boost when they signed a sponsorship deal worth 18 million baht with Hemaraj Land and Development Plc yesterday. The property developer will be the club's main sponsor for three years starting next season.

Chonburi manager Vittaya Khunpluem said the money would help strengthen the team's bid in the Thai league and the AFC Champions League.

The club is constructing a new 15,000-seat stadium to be their home ground which is expected to be complete in the middle of next year, he said.

Vittaya said the club aimed to become the number one football team in Thailand in terms of both results and marketing.

Arguably the best organised football club in Thailand, Chonburi are looking for players from Brazil, Argentina, Ivory Coast and Cameroon, he said.

Hemaraj chairman Sawad Horrungruang said the firm, whose main business is in Chon Buri and Rayong, wanted to help encourage the young to play sports.

He hoped that the sponsorship would also help football development in Thailand in general

A private sponsor! Chonburi are certainly leading the way at the moment.

Yes. It's all very exciting. However, as much as I love my club my real concern is that we'll get too big for the league. I'd much rather see other clubs raise their profiles and start attracting some support, both in terms of fans and sponsors.

It's been noticeable that since our title win and our AFC exploits that we've been attracting fans from all over Thailand. Even though a lot of us travel from Chonburi there are now large numbers of BKK based fans at our away games.

Also our home support has been swelled by visitors. There's nothing wrong with this, in principal, but we are leaving the rest behind and it's difficult to see how they'll catch up. Last Saturday we played TOT at home. They were second in the league and brought less than 20 fans with them for a big match. The week before we played them away. There must have been 500+ Chonburi fans at the stadium. And it's the same at all our fixtures.

I'd love to see all Thai league grounds as full as ours on a weekly basis but at the moment it seems a long way off. This is why we need to encourage people to go out and support their "local" clubs. And, yes, I know all the counter arguments but I'm trying to be positive Smiley

It seems to add weight to the idea that many Thais associate support with success. Good to hear that Chonburi's new stadium is coming on. Will it have a running track or is it just purpose built for football?

I haven't seen any plans but I expect that it won't be that different from most sports stadia in Thailand. Though it would be great to be right up close to the pitch!!

Shark, I fully agree to your concerns. but on the other hand, as you mentioned, think positive, it might help the other clubs. Cause they should be able to see what is possible in Thailand Football. And than hopefully start to learn from CFC. And frankly speaking, it is the only chance they have anyway. If they want to catch up with CFC. But of course, they should learn asap. Otherwise you will have a situation like in Scotland with Celtic and Rangers. In case of Thailand I mean, CFC and BEC.

Thats true Sven and Shark, Chonburi could turn to be too big for the league. But lets hope a few of the other province teams up their game a little both on the pitch and off the pitch.

I'm thinking of the likes of Samut Songkhram, Suphanburi and Sriracha. Then we have the company teams, which could include BEC, but tese teams could always go to the wall in the current financial world we live in.

I wonder what would happen, when Chonburi's biggest rival at this stage, BEC Tero Sasana, stops getting financial support from BEC, surely they will pull the plug oneday and move onto something else?

I suppose that things may improve over the next couple of years.

When I first started going to Chonburi, 5 years ago, we were getting crowds of 200/300 the same as most clubs get now. The future is with "provincial" clubs. I posted on the BigSoccer site that I was encouraged by the home support at Samut Songkhram when we visited at the start of the season.

As for SriRacha, most of their fans are also Chonburi fans who watch the Sharks on Saturday and The Blue Marlin on a Sunday (I'm one of them!!). So it will be interesting to see what happens if they are promoted.

Bang Phra also share a lot of fans with us.

In terms of financial backing and being able to attract the best players, BEC Tero are realistically the only club who can compete with us. However, their fan base is very small. This is a worry as they have been one of the top clubs for a while and have enjoyed success in Asia. If they struggle to attract big crowds with their recent history (and they have Leesaw) then that is surely a cause for concern.

Anyway, I'm off to the match now. Hoping for an entertaining game (on the plastic!!) and three points Smiley

Shark, I think the times have changed a bit. When BEC had their Asian run, maybe coverage and interest in football have not been the same. So maybe I am wrong, but I think if BEC would make a run nowadays, they might benefit better than a few years ago. But for the Bangkok side, maybe it is the problem that they have too much teams from BKK, and all are company based teams. To have a team like FC Bangkok (fiction) or maybe take Bangkok Bravo, would be good for BKK. Cause might be something for local identification.

Those were such happy times but so much has changed . How distant those times of BEC Tero Sasana and Bangkok Farmer Bank seemed now . When Chonburi played well 2 first matches in AFC Champions League this year . I hoped ...
Never mind !  I always cheer Thailand and Thai clubs .
Ahh , I have a question : In AFC Champions League next year , Thai clubs could join or if they don't want to join in this league , they could compete in a lower league . Is this information true ?  Huh?

Thai Premier League winner will take part in a pre-qualifying match to get to the Champions League. It think they play the winners of the Vietnam League. Whoever loses enters the AFC Cup

Thai Premier League runner up enters the AFC Cup, the same competition Osotspa played in a couple of years back.

So , Thai clubs will have more choices and more occasions .
I have just saw the match of Chonburi and Chula-Sinthana on Truevisions. A fast match , the audiences are not many but so exciting , they shouted a lot  Cheesy
Arthit Suthornphit is a David Beckham at the left side . He has a magic left leg !

Well, they not really have more choices, they get put where they are on merit.

But for example, if Thai clubs are really better than V-League clubs then we will go to the ball with the best of Asia, with Australian, Korean and Japanese clubs. If we are not good enough, then we will play with the likes of Maldives, Malaysia.

We don't have a guranteed spot in Champions League, but we can still be there, although don't expect to win it, but we have got a guranteed place in AFC Cup, something that we really could win or at least make the knockout stages and semi-finals. Also through that, we could make Champions League.

Basically AFC have seen our setup and thought, hey, Chonburi did well this year, but Krung Thai Bank, what was that all about, so we need a bit of practice, before we take on the world. But there's more to it than just football, its more about stadia and marketing, so to still be included in the future, Thailand need to promote more games, and more clubs need to take the role of Chonburi and start getting the fans in to watch.

Thai clubs can estimate their strength and choose the league . If they played in a lower league , they would succeed  Wink
All clubs in V-League are often afraid of AFC Champions League a lot . Why ? Because they know they will have no way to win ! Their forces are not strong enough to compete with some clubs of Japan , China , Korea ... even this year Nam Định also lost Krung Thai Bank 1-9 ! Moreover , Competing in AFC Champions League costs money and time . So , they often drop off AFC Champions League . On the other hand , I think Thai clubs are different . Chonburi draw Gamba Osaka and won Melbourne Victory ... Although finally these matches are nonsensical but they also showed off their spirit , not drop off !
Therefore , in this case Thai clubs want to play in AFC Champions League and meet Vietnamese clubs , I will vote for them   Smiley

Lokomotive, A good point about the timing but I would still expect them to be attracting more support. Maybe they should think about re-locating. Korat has a nice new stadium that needs filling  Wink Smiley Sorry, vinnie!!

The match yesterday was very entertaining. I thought we were the better side in the first half but Chula United (as we must now call them Wink) had the better of the second period. Zico has got them playing some good stuff. I think that their future is secured in the TPL and I expect them to be one of the challengers next season. Zico for Thailand boss? I would think that it's a real possibility.

Disappointed to have dropped two more points today but we're still up there. Another good turnout from the "Sharks". It's a shame that the TV cameras can't operate from the opposite side of the stadium. They would then be able to show the crowd and not have to focus on three empty sides!!

Agree about Arthit. On his day he is a very good player. He had one of his better games yesterday. But why did he switch sides? He was playing really well down the left in the first half but went over to the right in the second. It was noticeable that he didn't see as much of the ball during this time but Chula had more possession in the space he'd left.

Yes, he has left. He only made a couple of appearances and I don't think that he played a full match. Althoug he did manage to pick up a yellow card in his first game :Smiley

As for where he's gone......I have no idea. Sorry.

Our two players are back from the "Dark Side". The contracts with M*n C*ty have been cancelled and their loan spells in Europe have finished.

Suree is back in training and Car is due an operation on his leg.

I'm glad that they are back Grin Now they can actually concentrate on playing football.

I don't really think Chonburi FC needs Suree and Kiatprawut.
I think Jetsadakorn and Nataporn are doing well.

You may right, but as Suree and Kiatprawut are good players, you never can have neough of them. And they always can make your team better. Espacially if you look forward to possible next AFC Pro League or AFC Cup campaign. And also I guess that these two at least had learned a lot in oversea. Even if only in the practice.

If i were a Chonburi FC supporter, i will better wish a top forward because Kraisorn and Tana are not the same type of player as Ney Fabiano.
They should get Kassim Koné, Teerasin, Pipat or Sarayoot...

Suree , Kiatprawut and Teerasil Dangda too are sinking their talents in Europe and although they are good , if they don't appear regularly in the the main formation of their clubs , Nothing can guarantee their positions in the national team .

Square head had plenty to say when they were signed by City. Any comment from him following this very predictable conclusion?
p.s Shame on those who said at the time that the transfers were good for Thai football. Even his most ardent supporters must admit that this final chapter proves that the signings never had anything to do with the good of Thai football.

I would propose to the take the bus from Eka Mai Station into the direction of Sattahip. Normaly the bus should stop than in front of the Robinson Shopping Mall in Sri Racha. From there it should not be far to the stadium.

Edit, the Bus may need about 1:30 Minutes. Time is the same as if you take a taxi.

The buses from Ekkamai are every 20 minutes. As Lokomotive says, get off at Robinsons and you will easily find a tuk-tuk to take you to Assumption College. This part of the journey should only take about two minutes.

I look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

An update from today's BKK Post.

FAT to help trio
TOR CHITTINAND

The Thai football boss will help the three Thai players on Manchester City's books to play in Thailand while still remaining under contract to City. It has been reported that Man City want to terminate the contracts with Suree Sukha, Kiatprawut Saiwaew and Teerasil Dangda.

Worawi Makudi, president of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), said yesterday he had discussed the matter with City executives who told him they did not want to terminate their contracts but wanted them to play for any club in Thailand.

''They said when the three players were on loan to clubs in Switzerland and Belgium, they failed to impress,'' Worawi said.

''At the moment they cannot play in England because they are not qualified to get work permit. So City want them to play for clubs in Thailand particularly their former clubs here.''

Suree is training with Thai league champions Chonburi FC, while Kiatprawut is injured. Teerasil played for Division One side Muang Thong-Nong Chok before signing with Man City.

''City executives want me to help bring the three players back to Thailand so they will get a chance to play football. This will be the best way for all concerned parties.''

He said Chonburi and Muang Thong-Nong Chok had to decide whether they wanted the players.

We have just signed two Brazilian players, Fabhino and Mario Da Santos. Hopefully they'll be eligible to play against BEC Tero on Wednesday.

A comfortable win against Customs on Saturday; we could even afford to miss a penalty!! Which sets it up rather nicely for mid-week. I can't wait!!!!

What a splendid afternoon Smiley

I knew that it was going to be our day as soon as I heard the "Summer Holiday" soundtrack blaring out of the BEC Tero pa system when we arrived. Most unexpected but welcome nevertheless!!

In truth it wasn't the greatest advert for Thai football and we were woeful at times but our defence proved yet again why we are the most miserly in the league.

The first half was pretty even and scrappy in places. The highlight being our goal. Although we could, and should, have added a couple more. The only other notable event was the double sending off. Pipob On-mo reacted stupidly to an off the ball elbow from a BEC defender and both players were quite rightly dismissed.

The second half belonged to the home side as we fended off wave after wave of attack. I was impressed by Tero's fitness and passing game which contrasted with our uncharacteristic long ball game and being unable to keep possession.

As Tero became more desperate some of their challenges were a little rustic and how Leesaw wasn't booked for a series of crude fouls I'll never know.

So, to sum up...........We were second best to a decent team today but WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!! Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

As for the fans. We were amazing. There were hundreds of us. And when you consider that this was a 4:00pm Wednesday fixture it makes it more praiseworthy. I'll post the link to the photos as soon as they are up.

A final note to FAT : Please schedule this game for a SATURDAY next season. Thank you.

Match report (in Thai) and a good photo taken after the final whistle. There were more fans to the left and right of the ones you can see in the picture. I'm somewhere above Kosin's left hand!!

Shark, this is something I cannot understand. If CFC is building this stadaium by his own, and will be the owner than, how they can get the idea to build such a stadium with running track? It makes no sense. Ot is it because Khunploem is a sponor and he can use the stadium politic wise, presenting the stadium for everybody in the area of Chonburi?

I guess that the stadium can, and probably will, be used for sports other than football. After all the Thai league season is quite short and it wouldn't make much sense to have the stadium standing idle for a long period.

Also, it's common in Thailand for football pitches to have running tracks around them.

I've no problem with a running track provided it's going to be used. A running track shouldn't be put in just because that's the way stadiums are built here. It's unnecessary expense if it's not going to be used. If it is; then fine.

Has the first spade been sunk yet SRS?

It's a  funny old game! We totally dominated the match yesterday but failed to score. A frustraing afternoon.

The referee was awful, for both teams : whistling for free kicks when no foul was committed and not giving free kicks when there were blatant fouls!! He also failed to give us a penalty when everyone in the stadium saw a serious infringement!!

I came away feeling very disappointed.

On a positive note - another big crowd and a decent turnout from Nakorn Pathom - 120/150. More proof that the way forward is provincial teams Smiley

It's the Chonburi derby tomorrow - Bang Phra v Chonburi.

We have already played our home match at Chonburi Municipal Stadium. This was an away game for Bang Phra even though it was played at their home ground.

Tomorrow we will be playing away at our new home stadium and Bang Phra will be playing at home even though it's an away match for them  Huh?

So this means that Chonburi have played home and away at two different home grounds during the same season.

Following Thai football is never dull  Smiley

Just checking out the fixtures, and maybe a couple of weeks too early, but Chonburi playing PEA on 30th August, should be a cracker!

Possible title decider?Huh?
