It certainly looks very large. The stands are about forty rows deep, and, I must admit, it should be an impressive sight when it's full. It's easy to see how it's going up so quickly, though. In design, the stands are basically just giant 'bleachers': metal floor sections attached to a metal frame – very little concrete (see photos). I just hope thorough safety checks are carried out.

Not sure what to do on first day. PEA v Tero is the pick of the bunch but I had planned to see them later.
Was thinking of doing a tour up in Issan in March. Looked at the dates was thinking of this:
20th Pea v Chon Buri. 23rd Up to Khon Kaen v Navy. Then 26th Sisaket V Tero and then 27th Back to PEA Muang Thong.
Should all be good games and the times fit together nicely.
So I will probably miss the first day and wait until 19th Feb and go to Chon Buri v Thai Port.
I've only ever been to Buriram on the coach, there and back in a day. Has anybody ever been up to PEA and stayed over night? Any good hotels, watering holes? What about Sisaket. I've been to Khon Kaen before so should be OK.
All I would say is don't book any hotels too far in advance as kick off times and dates are chopped and changed routinely, sometimes just a few days before the match is due to take place.

Going back when Reid was hired, FAT had picked Assistant Coaches without tlaking consulting Reid who asking for Viv Anderson which obviously he didn't get what he really want resulting in him reaching out for Darby. A couple of weeks after Reid bagan to work with NT FAT's hand picked Assistant Coaches walked out citing they weren't engaaged in NT training process(as they had hope).
Rule of thumb in running a team at any levels is that the Head Coach and his assistant(s) must be in sync. Unless, of course, you coach for FAT.
Personally, if the headcoach is a foreigner then I think the main assistant should be Thai – preferably one who can speak good English and can relay the headcoach's instructions accurately to the team. Maybe it can work, but it just seems unsatisfactory to me to have two foreigners dishing out instructions, via an interpreter, to the squad. This is in no way a criticism of Darby (in fact, in an ideal world I'd like to see him as headcoach with 'Zico' as his number two) but I just like the balance of a Thai assistant complementing a foreign headcoach. Regarding the FAT's treatment of Reid in this matter, I think their attitude was basically "we're paying you xx million baht so we'll dictate to you, not vice-versa." Reid was taking the squad in the right direction and it was a pity that he left, but he had to put up with a lot of crap from the FAT so I don't blame him.

I will do it after the deadline . However , Even when I turn off this mode , No one can ensure there is no undercurrent here . It’s up to everyone’s awareness . It just causes more friction and arguments; things that I'm sure you want to avoid. Personally, I haven't smitten anyone, and the only person I've applauded is Maria.

Also forgot to ask, was the ref today the one that got battered by the Nakhon Pathom fans?
Yes he was the ref today. Well done to the FAT for backing the ref and letting him take a big game so soon after the Nakhon Pathom incident. He didn't get too much wrong – except for a couple of free kick decisions, but you see those every week in any match – and he saw through the usual Christian nonsense.

Sixty four days. Two trophies. I hope you were wearing your replica shirt and singing from first minute to last, you curmudgeonly old stick-in-the-mud. I was wearing a Buzzc_ocks t-shirt and I spent the vast majority of the ninety minutes catching up with a very old friend, who was regaling me with tales from his visit to watch the Ashes over Christmas, as we glugged illicitly smuggled beer. tut-tut. That just won't do.

As I had nothing to do today i ended up going to the game. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get a ticket but I shouldn't have been as the ground was only half full.
Chonburi fully deserved their win and I thought that Pibob and Ekaphan were lively throughout the game. Ekaphan was awarded man of the match and his winning goal was a fitting reward for his performance even though it looked like it went through Weera's body. I might be wrong as I haven't seen the replay on TV yet.
Muangthong looked lackluster and their big players like Datsakorn, Christian and Dagno didn't perform to their usual high standards.
I was surprised that Zesh Rehman started at left back. He didn't have the greatest debut but he showed signs that he could be a good acquisition. I'm sure he'll feel far more confident if he gets a run at the heart of defence.
It didn't quite go through Weera, but Kawin probably would have saved it. He possibly wasn't expecting Ekkaphan to take it first time.

Agreed. You can't even see the stripes from a distance.
I like the way that Football Siam TV are concurrently showing a re-run of the FA Cup final. Maybe they hope to fool a few viewers and boost their ratings a little!

@ Vinnie, a report from TLO says that there will be a livestream on the Hat Yai website. Would be nice if so.
The Hat Yai webboard says that 'T-Sports 3' will be broadcasting the tournament. I didn't know there was a T-Sports 3. I thought there was only one T-Sports channel. The Korat match was indeed on T-Sports and streamed on the Hat Yai website. I like how the organisers are clinging onto the name 'Super Champ' Cup when of the eight competing teams none were champions in 2010, and only two promoted. Yesterday's results: Hat Yai 3-0 Korat; Bangkok F.C 2-2 Satun Edit: one was a champion: Bangkok F.C.

Given the occasion and given the time the goal came, it was an almost unbelieveably well-controlled finish (even if he was completely unmarked). Harry Kewell showed why he is no longer playing in the Premier League, and it was good to see the Asian team win the Asian Cup.

I get why not to wear team trikots, scarfs or paint your face.
But why seize to support, thats more a form of protest to me then anything else. And I dont think the club or the new kind of fan has done anything to deserve that. imho
Singing and dancing isn't for everyone. People can support their team however they see fit. The fans in question care enough to travel from Chonburi to Saraburi for a meaningless end-of-season match when they had a much more important FA Cup semi-final match coming up the very next weekend.

Well sure the atmostphere was great compared to games against army or TOT.
But those teams that brought 2 or 3k hfans which were BG , Chonburi and TP they actually had a very small fraction of active supporters.
And the thai port game was even until the last minutes of the game so you cant put it on them trailing. Sure theyre authentic and they get brutally loud at times but overall support wise its nothing that blows me away.
I think BG were the noisiest and had the best support of those 3 but sadly once they trailed it was the same picture. Only a few hundred at best active supporters.
Again atmosphere was good at those games compared to others but I rather speak about active support.
All those clubs have active supporters but the majority of the people dont get involved unless theres a corner a rouch fould or whatever .
At least thats how I saw it...
Buriram might not be as loud and look generic due that everyone has the same shirt... but again theyre in their first year and they bring 2 or 3k fans who almost all support actively for a full 90 minutes... they deserve credit for that wether they get their bis ride and ticket paid for or not! They come to support their team and represent their area like everyone else and do it pretty well.
Give them a few years and they will also get more raw and real.
I agree with what you are saying Toni. At the LEO, Buriram easily created the best atmosphere, next up was MTU and Sisaket. Chonburi weren't even close to those 3 on both occasions we played them at home last season. I can't really judge Thai Port at the LEO because a) there was nothing to play for and of course and b) they were planning to smash it up afterwards so their minds weren't really on the game. Whether people like or agree with it or not, PEA 'fans' do make for a great atmosphere. An interesting thing has happened with the Chonburi support over the last couple of seasons. A lot of the people who have been going for years, and who were responsible for introducing the fan culture into Thai league football, have either stopped going as often or have distanced themselves from the new breed of fan. They tend to stand away from the main body of supporters and don't get involved in the singing and chanting. I pointed this out to Vinnie at the last match of last season against Osotspa. The "old guard" were mainly standing at the back of the stand just drinking and watching the match. This is definitely a deliberate decision. And one I personally find quite refreshing. Chonburi's away support that day was an interesting study. Of the 1000 or so there, about half weren't in club colours nor were they joining in with the singing.

the 'consensus' as you described it usually came from nutty Scottish priests applying Latin grammar rules to a language that was essentially Anglo Saxon in origin
i know one guy who ruminates endlessly on grammar and its rules and he says to split an infinitive is absolutely wrong and nearly as bad as mass murder. as an individual he is totally lacking in imagination and couldn't infer the time of day without three watches
luckily i grew up with punk...rules is for fools!
I can't believe there's anyone left who clings onto that split infinitive nonsense! Even the following comes from a dusty, old grammar dictionary: But this view [that to split an infinitive is incorrect] is quite wrong: the infinitive is a single word; the particle 'to' is not part of the infinitive or part of the verb at all; and the sequence 'to touch' (for example) is not a grammatical unit of any kind, as shown by the fact that it can be readily interrupted by other material.Dangling participles are another matter, though. And don't get me started on 'was sat' and 'was stood'!

for me language is flexible and best practised with out the constraint of artificial and constricting rules
But language isn't organised into rules in a literal sense – with the sole exception of Esperanto. What we refer to as grammatical 'rules' or punctuation 'rules' or spelling 'rules' aren't unbreakable laws but a consensus developed over the centuries. And that consensus, of course, evolves and shifts. So Mr Satwiko is more than welcome to describe the state of refereeing in Indonesia as "subpar" just as I am welcome to start sentences with "but" and "and" as I have done in this post. I think all one can say about the rules is that one shouldn't drift too far from them so as to be misunderstood. Anyway, back to teaching eight-year-olds the days of the week!

Ok I understand Political guy owner from Bangkok FC has done everything to not share the stadium with Raj, unsuccessful
This. Siam Sport seem to have been sticking their oar in for some reason. They proposed the move to Bang Mod. The owners of the stadium, Bangkok FC refused on the grounds that they and Bangkok Sports College already use the ground. Siam Sport set up a meeting between reps of the clubs, and it looks as though they will ground-share. Raj have offered to help develop the stadium to meet TPL standards. It seems the guy from Bangkok has to have a talk to Bangkok's Dept of Sport & Tourism, and there will be a final decision made tomorrow. Unless they've puchased it from the BMA, then Bangkok F.C don't own the stadium.

Hi guys.I have just had a look at the early season fixtures and would like to know your suggestions on which games would be worth going to at the start of the season.I see on the forum some of you guys are maybe going to meet up i would be interested in that as i travel to games on my own. Was going to post something similar closer to time, but you've beaten me to it. Where are you going to be on opening day? * We know binnsy and rossi (and of course, PEA) have a date at Tero v PEA. * I plan to go to Bangkok FC vs Rajpracha - non- Nontaburi Thailand for what may or may not be a 'home' game for both teams, should anyone want to meet up. Others? Surin v Korat! (if the SAT cough up and the season kicks off on time) I'll also be at Thailand v Palestine olympic qualifier on Feb 23rd.

In case anyone doesn't know, Saraburi beat Rayong 1-0 to clinch promotion to Division 1 and finally bring the curtain down on the 2010 Regional League. Enjoy your seventeen-day close-season lads!
They'll be hauled in for "training" on each and every one of those seventeen days. So the 2010 season has finally concluded only 4 days before the 2011 season curtain raiser. Take a bow Oooh! So close! If only they had made it two-legged, then they could have got the seasons to overlap!

Massively over the top. There was 15,000 at the FA Cup final, so how many will there be at this match? 10,000 at the most? So that's one copper for every 20 fans! I don't think having 500 police at what is little more than a pre-season friendly portrays a "good image of Thai football".
And the suggestion that they would punish Thai Port if their fans cause trouble at a match not involving Thai Port is outrageous.
Vinnie I have to agree with you comments I will be in Bangkok this weekend and was thinking about popping along to this game(in my new 300 baht Buriram PEA shirt)but I guess if there is any trouble near me then Buriram PEA would be held responsible. Will you be sitting with the Muang Thong fans?

I must admit that my first post about Buriram PEA was negative. I do have reasons for being negative. My subsequent posts, the ones that you reacted to Binnsy, also contained questions that are yet to be answered.
I thought this was a discussion forum. Don't discussions involve questions AND answers?
It seems that Muang Chon/Rossi want answers but Vinnie does not ? Binnsy, that's exactly my point. Everyone has answered already, as you well know, in the thread that you started 'Why the Anti Buriram PEA?'

why this great hatred for the pea everyone is talking about fans being paid, hey so what sounds great to me going to a football game and getting paid yes please.the owners are no good, don't understand this ,from what i can see pea come from a very poor part of thailand with very little money in the province, and by the crowds they get must be doing something right, and on top of that building a new 24000 seated stadium.so they have money a great set of fans ,and looking for success, now please tell me what is wrong with that,is that not what every supporter in the world wants.maybe that is why so many people on here dislike them.because pea seem to be doing what everyone wants there own clubs to do,i think that what you call envy.the whole set up at buriram looks fantastic and i am truly looking forward to watching them good luck to all of them.
As I've said before, Rossi, we've already had this debate. Please don't stir things up.
