defeated the hosts in the final in a penalty
shoot-out, in which goalkeeper Sathiti Pheangma
emerged as the hero, saving three of Qatar's five spot-kicks. The victory was the Thai's first ever win in an Asian
event, eclipsing the performances of the nation's
under 16 side two years ago in Ching Mai when they finished runners-up in the competition
to Oman
