First Round
The First Round will be the system of round robin league, where each team will play the other team in each group.

Second Round
The top two teams of each group will qualify to make a total of 16 teams and these teams will be divided into 4 groups of 4 teams. The teams will play a round robin league.

Third Round
The top two teams of the 4 groups will qualify for the Quarter-Finals and the winner will go forward to the Semi-Finals.
Only the first round preliminary matches will be played in the venues outside Bangkok. Thereafter the 16 qualifying teams will be brought to Bangkok where all the remaining matches will be played.
All the teams will be accommodated at the Asian Games Village in Bangkok for the 2nd round matches and onwards.
Those teams that do not qualify will be required to return home in accordance with flight arrangements.
