The Sarakul stadium, built in 1959, is located in the city centre and seats 15,000 spectators, 3,000 of them under cover. The first BIMST-EC football competition (U-18 international tournament) was staged here recently, organised by the Thai Sports Authority. As well as the hosts, teams from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Bhutan took part.
