Bahrain leave it late
A last-minute strike by Hussain Ali Ahmed
gave Bahrain a share of the points against Thailand in their re-arranged
World Cup qualifying match in Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium on Tuesday.
The pair met after the original match was
abandoned following an electrical fire at the stadium on Saturday, which
resulted in the stadium lights failing.
Thailand, who have yet to win a game in
the second phase of Asia's World Cup qualifying tournament, opened the
scoring through Worrawoot Srimaka in the 21st minute and Peter Withe's
side seemed to be one their way to their first three points of the
competition.
But Ahmed hit back for Wolfgang Sidka's
team right on the full-time whistle for them to draw level with Iraq on
points but remain in fourth place in group A.
Bahrain and Thailand play their final
matches of the qualifying round this weekend, when they play Iran and
Saudi Arabia respectively in the group's deciding ties.
