Worawi keen to succeed Vijitr as boss (March 10, 2007)

Secretary general of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Worawi Makudi said yesterday he would be prepared to be the next president of the organisation following the sudden resignation of Vijitr Getkaew. Worawi returned to Thailand yesterday after attending the AFC annual meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

''If anyone proposes my name on election day I will be ready,'' he said.

''I have been working with Thai football for more than a decade and want to to see Thai football football develop in a healthy way.''

He said it was important a president was elected soon, as this year Thailand is hosting the Asian Cup, the World University Games and the Southeast Asian Games.

Worawi said he believed he had the credentials to be the next president.

''I have been a footballer and have held executive positions with the FAT, AFC and Fifa,'' he said.
