Maradona tipped for Thai match (February 27, 2007)
Argentina legend Diego Maradona is likely to come to Thailand with the 1986 World Cup winners to play a friendly match in May or June. Argentina Ambassador HE Felipe Frydman met Minister of the Tourism and Sports Mr Suvit Yodmani to talk about a celebratory event to commemorate more than 50 years of relations between the countries.
Maradona will now be asked to play in the match, which will also be to honour His Majesty the King's 80th birthday.
Also, former Argentina goalkeeper Ubaldo Fillol will coach students in Supanburi, Nakhon Sawan, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Chonburi next month.
Elsewhere, former Thai coach Chanvit Phalajivin appears to have run into a financial disagreement with Vietnamese side Dong Thap.
On top of his wage demands _ which were met _ Chanvit has now asked for four million baht extra as compensation for leaving his government job in Thailand.
He said if an agreement cannot be reached by March 1 then he may quit the club.
Meanwhile, Thailand's pre-Olympic team will meet North Korea in the qualifying group stage tomorrow at Supachalasai stadium.
Thailand U23 team defeated Turkmenistan in the first round to qualify for the group stage alongside North Korea, Iraq and India.
