Thailand coach Charnwit Phalajivin aims to get nine points from the first round of the Asean Football Championship, which starts Friday.

Thailand co-host the tournament with Singapore and are in Group A with Burma, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Charnwit said victory was the only option.

"Our only target in the tournament for the Thai team is to win the title," he said.

"I hope that our team will win all three matches and get the full nine points, but it will not be an easy for us, even though we are number one in the region."

He said Burma were the team to watch out for after their Merdeka Cup victory last year.

The victorious King's Cup squad will make up the backbone of the squad.

Thailand captain Kiatisak 'Zico' Senamuang added: "Every player in the team is looking forward for the tournament."

Thailand will open against Burma on Friday at 7pm.

Malaysia face the Philippines earlier in the day at 4.30pm. All matches will be played at Supachalasai stadium.
